E-begging has got so bad you can do stuff like filter out every possible related term to it on the likes of X and Tumblr and still feel bombarded.

Unless there is proof of the story like, say, someone raising funds because there's been a house fire or actual medical bills for something lifesaving, why countless people rush to donate to anyone with a begging bowl out mystifies me. One born every minute, I guess.
I feel like all influencers are just e-begging.

I’d like a free new car and a sun room extension please & thank you 🙏🏻 I’m sure the shame of the GFM would pass when I don’t need to use a penny of my own cash and there may even be left overs for a holiday 😊

It's bizarre to me because in one breath we are all struggling and can barely afford to feed ourselves but in the next people are donating money to any cause they can lay their hands on or paying to watch streamers scream on the internet.
I always say this. We are meant to be in a cost of living crisis, places closing down as nobody has any spare cash. Yet on Tiktok people are sending complete arseholes and druggies money,or buying off Amazon wish lists to get them on leaderboards and so they get a "top gifter" badge. It's actually insane

Leaves a candle unattended. The kitten knocks the candle over (and dies) and then the begging hand comes out.

The ones that get me are the ones I used to see on tumblr a lot that were like "Donate to a queer autistic girl" "Donate to a black transwoman".

Not for anything specific like medical bills or vet bills or homelessness, just because. Usually accompanied by a lot of guilt tripping.

Why should I? If I thought someone was genuinely in need of financial help I could give, their identity is irrelevant, but just existing as you are doesn't automatically make you entitled to other people's money.

Recently saw that someone was trying to raise £100 to pay a penalty fare they received for not buying a train ticket.

As far as I'm concerned that was their fault and their problem to pay. Rather than go on GFM and expect the gullible to pay it for them.

So why did GFM allow this request to be posted?

Does GFM not vet the ridiculous blagging that goes on?

No wonder the site has a rather poor reputation nowadays.

All the worthy causes are being swamped by those trying to take the piss!

A lot of people are just fundamentally too decent and generous and a bit naive in some cases too. Not in a million years would I give a red cent to a GoFundMe. Every sort of chancer has one these days. Go on holiday without travel insurance, not a problem, set up a begging fund and you'll be transported home. Get yourself in trouble and imprisoned abroad, hey let's set up a fund for you. 🙄

There was one mentioned earlier in the thread, a very sad case of a little girl drowning. A GoFundMe was set up, I'm not entirely sure why. And then the mother was on instagram having got hair extensions or highlights or something because that's what the child would have wanted...

I am not being heartless, it was a huge tragedy, obviously. But it's unclear to me why there was a fund set up. It's possibly somewhat understandable if it's a situation where say, the person who died was the breadwinner, and a family is left in debt or poor circumstances. Maybe.

These are probably the same ones who complain about medical tourism, yet expect free healthcare in a country they have not contributed to.
Without a doubt. Moan about people coming to the UK and getting everything for free, whilst expecting to get everything for free when they are abroad.

Mickey Rourke using GFM to beg for money shows what a mockery the platform is, imho.

They need to tighten it up and stop people abusing it via using it just for random shameless begging.

I decided some time ago I was never going to donate to anything on GFM because it seems so open to scams and chancers.

Over £16k raised to support someone who committed a crime 😲 GFM needs to clamp down on these, it's shocking....
I remember vaguely reading the story a while ago,but didn't realise a go fund me had been set up ! They didn't care as they get a cut of the profits, like Only Fans is basically criminal, pimping people out.

Young lad on his first ever boys trip abroad and has no travel insurance 🤦‍♀️ family giving no more details other than he was in a serious accident 🤷🏻‍♀️ but want the bills covered with a GFM.

No sympathy for these people at all. The sheer nerve of them expecting the rest of the world to fund their cheek. The rest of us have to do things like insurance properly, why are you so fucking special?

When a trip abroad goes wrong and they don’t have any insurance they don’t even try to minimise costs by being cremated abroad….NO No it’s a high set GFM with all the trimmings 🤷🏻‍♀️

How on earth have they amassed over $3k after that .... talk about fools and their money.
I assume because people feel so much sympathy for the mother as her child has died, but the cold reality is,it will not bring her back. And the Mother,as bad as this sounds must be just as bad to allow this to happen in the first place.

Why would you want to have a grave in your garden? It is a little creepy.

No one is going to want to buy that house in the future.

Family only managed to raise 140k of the required 215k so Bella will have to do 2 years behind bars minus what she’s already done so around 18 months. There was also mention of maybe going onto house arrest round about the time the baby is due but the judge will make a final decision on sentencing(next Monday 2pm).
No sympathy for her at all.
