I've a good job and can't afford to go on holiday this year cause I'm doing up my house. Yet these skangars expect us who live within our means and do everything by the rules should bail them out.
These are probably the same ones who complain about medical tourism, yet expect free healthcare in a country they have not contributed to.

An American family on holiday in Florida on 13th December. Mum, Dad 3 young kids. Dads been drinking and taken 2 different drugs then falls asleep while in the hot tub with his 1yo daughter at 3:30am he wakes up and finds his daughter drowned and is now in a Florida jail and mums started a GFM to cover transport/funeral expenses.

I don't know why everyone needs these huge funerals where it's like the Queen being laid to rest.

I find it tacky and when I die would be perfectly happy with something very small scale.

The awful deaths of the sisters on Brighton Beach is heartbreaking and tragic but there's a GoFundMe and it's already raised 18k for a "loving and dignified farewell"...

It's just automatic at this point, I suppose it's the new normal.

And look, fundraising for a nice funeral? Okay, I can grasp that. You do not need to gather so much money you could have a Kardashian worthy send off, though.

Why does it always have to be the most massive funeral ever? That's the bit I struggle with.

Ugh it just sounds like she is blaming the kitten for her mistake! Calling it crazy, it's a kitten. And if she wants to know what to tell her kids, maybe tell them she is an idiot cat murderer and teach her kids to be more responsible than herself like what is she actually expecting here?

Exactly.....why is she asking us what to tell her kids? Bizarre.
And guess what.....kittens jump around.......don't leave flames around, whether you are in the room or not. And a poor hamster died too.

Time to grow up, learn how to be an adult, and take responsibility and be a good role model to the kids. Shitty actions can have devastating consequences, time to look in the mirror.

And I'm guessing there was no insurance, not that it would bring back the lives of those poor pets but it's not for us to fund other people's negligence.

It should be a legal requirement to have insurance if you're travelling anywhere overseas.

The couple went on holiday to turkey and were both getting new teeth fitted. She gave birth 7 weeks ago but left the baby in the UK with her other 2 kids. He’s not fit to fly and may not be for a while. Didnt bother to take out travel insurance so have started a GFM.

This is like a parody or if you made a GFM bingo card. Not a brain cell between them.

It's not acceptable..... hence the gfm currently standing at a grand total of £0

This one has more holes in it than a sieve, but I guess at least it stands out a mile.... he just comes across as a bit .... erm..... not very bright....

It's the clever ones that annoy me more sometimes, as there is a lot of trickery and deception in how they are worded, and they aren't open and honest. They raise a shed load of cash by playing on words and being manipulative.....

I remember vaguely reading the story a while ago,but didn't realise a go fund me had been set up ! They didn't care as they get a cut of the profits,like Only Fans is basically criminal,pimping people out.

This thread has really opened my eyes up to GFM. From someone stating a heart was stolen to enable £260k be raised.....supposedly to fund a legal case that was meant to be in court in November.......no updates on that surprise surprise. To the Turkey Teeth couple. It just feels like people lie, elaborate, or commit crime and expect a huge payout

And those are just the high profile cases, it's happening on a much smaller scale too, so no-one notices, it's awful

One of my work colleagues has married a woman from the Philippines. He thought he was buying a live in cook/cleaner/dutiful wife and she's everything but (which I admire her for)! He admitted on a night out once that he spent well over £75k of life savings by the time he'd been out there a few times to meet, marry and bring her here. She sends all of her wages back to her family so they exist on his wages. Her English is still very poor even though she's been here for 10 years, so she's hard to understand and he has to attend the Doctors/Dentist/Hairdresser/school meetings with her. Drives us mad with his constant leave requests.

Good for her, tbh! Someone who essentially 'buys' a person deserves all they get.

This isn’t really scamming, and I feel so bad for even thinking negatively but someone I know lost their baby on the weekend, and a GFM was linked to the social media announcement, 2 days later. i don’t understand why this would be your first thought!
