There’s a person on TikTok who said she’s in 75k debt and repaying it by Christmas. First few videos it was detailing how she’ll pay it back. Then turns out the debt is actually with her parents as they paid it off for her. Then she’s on a considerable wage and is able to pay it off then lo and behold a GFM has been created and she keeps increasing the target. It was at £1500 and today it’s £3.5k. The way she did breadcrumbs with her sob story and saying she’d never ask for help to this. It was all strategic

I thought it was dodgy too. After the GFM for the other family was nearing 100,000 I reckoned there'd be a few more petrol bombings of wrong addresses. Contents insurance should be mandatory for everyone. I pay mine every year, why should I contribute to eejits who don't bother. Why don't they ask for donations of clothes and household items instead of cash? How had they so many items in a one bedroom flat?

Something fishy about that. I've worked in a fraud team for a big retailer. If you can prove you've not committed the fraud, the debt is usually wiped from your name. Credit history cleared etc
Not true for benefit fraud, my sister committed it in my name (we don’t speak) and I’ve reported it, given an evidence etc. it’s not a criminal matter, benefits didn’t cancel it for five years after me reporting it and I’m currently repaying all the loans or advances she took as an attachment of earnings.

ETA: apologies I don’t know why I assumed this was benefit fraud too lol, agree with everyone else this should / would be wiped. I’ve just looked up the GFM.

I’m not being funny but if she has £2500 spare a month to be paying this back, while rearing 5 kids does she really need a GFM?

I'm not always convinced that it's someone who even knows the family that well. I remember a lady whose daughter went to school with my middle one, and she died of cancer aged 16. The family were amazing, carried on her blog for a while after and her Mum wrote so beautifully. Then someone set a fund raiser up "for" the family and they were horrified, it caused a real hoo ha on social media as the family didn't want handouts and wanted any donations to go for hospice/cancer charities. I felt so bad for them at the time because it was frankly the last thing that they needed.

British comedian Cerys Nelmes( never heard of her before) was arrested for shoplifting while in Turkey back in July. Cerys left a Zara store with £110 of unpaid for clothing in her backpack. Her gofundme states they were paid for but now the story being reported is that she got distracted by her mobile and left the store forgetting her backpack was full of unpaid items. Staff escorted her back into the store and was arrested for shoplifting, the court put a travel ban on her and she was finally allowed to the country yesterday. Does anyone else put items in their backpack/bag before paying for them?

What happened to him, is horrendous. I find it weird his ‘girlfriend’ set this up within 24 hours.
What do they plan to do with the rest?
Your right it was utterly horrendous what happened to him. But I don't get this mindset about setting up GFM pages within days of your loved one dying

Is he having a solid gold coffin for £55K??! It's horrific what happened to him but whatever happened to life insurance/funeral plans. Same with travel insurance and the idiots who think they won't need it. The moment we had kids we took out mortgage and life cover, and we've never travelled without decent insurance either. One thing you learn in life is to expect the unexpected.

Not a GFM but I’m intrigued to see the outcome here. Couple bought a 600k house in Buckinghamshire 7 years ago but 4 kids later they really struggled when interest rates went up. They decided to sell but was told it could take up to 18 months and the value had dropped. So they decided to raffle it off and Monday is the final day.

It’s £2 a ticket and for the house to be won they need to sell a minimum 450,000 tickets (£900k) or failing that they will give the winner half the ticket revenue. If all goes to plan the should off load their home and have around 250k profit left to themselves. Failing that half the ticket sales 🤷🏻‍♀️
There were a lot of these a few years ago....
House never sold.....so owners got a payout and kept house. The ticket winners (who got half the cash, often less a management and admin cost that had been deducted) were loosely known to the owners.....and various house owners who had put homes up for raffle with the same company, then sold up and moved to Oz......it was all very murky.....

There was a recent one in Notts too, it turned out the house owner was in a relationship with the woman who ran the raffle company. The raffle company had only been set up less than a year prior. House tickets didn't sell, owner took a chunk of money, raffle company dissolved.

I wouldn't touch house raffles .......

My partner went to Turkey for surgery last week, travel insurance to cover his surgery as well as everything else was only £100. Thankfully he didn't need it but these Muppets will drop a couple of thou on teeth but baulk at 100 for peace of mind

They say "He doesn't have a bank account".........So how does he get paid for movie roles?
Exactly my thoughts.......I wonder if he owes his manager money, so she was going to take a chunk of the GFM before giving him the remainder. It's very shady. From what i can gather from various articles, he did know about it imo (that part may be debatable though, and I know hes denying it).....I'm not sure he fully knew what GFM was though, I wonder if he thought he was signing up to a Patreon style account. His manager seems shady imo, and probably gave him vague details to get some funds coming in. Shady.

I’m pretty sure I’ll get shit for this but that woman who raised over 1.5 million for her son’s heart surgery in America is now on the beg for a buggy because her son is being discharged and she broke theirs. Not sure why she can’t take an uber to a shop and get one, or order one?! There’s something fishy with that story I’m sure
