I'm glad they didn't get sucked off.... I got a bit scared when the priest showed up. I thought them going back every year was nice, but TBH I dont think we would have been happy with any ending as we just didnt want it to stop.

I do love this troop of actors and I cant wait to see what they do next (I did see an advert for Mathew Baynton playing Bottom in A Midsummer Nights Dream recently)

Binge watched the lot yesterday, and not to objectify but I'm still and always will be head over heels for Ben Willbond❤❤❤
My crush aside, Ghosts, (as well as everything else this incredible collection of writers and actors produce) will always be on my telly, in my home forever I think.
It's all so familiar (HH, has been watched from the get go and all 5 of my children loved it)...I'm not ashamed to say I occasionally watch HH by myself sometimes ...I'm 50🙈🤣🤣🤣
Looking forward to the Christmas special and anything else that any of the cast do.

I also love Motherland, wish they would do more of that too xx

Ghosts is the best show the BBC have produced in ages! It's well written with some great characters. You can tell that most of them have had a hand in creating the characters and that's what makes a difference.

I loved the episode where we found out how Thomas died it was tragic and tragically funny 😁
Really hope it comes back for a 3rd series.

As sad as I am about this, I am a big fan of shows going out at their best rather than flogging it into mediocrity. Always leave the viewers wanting more.
Aww I'm sad about that but I agree with you, I don't feel like there's much further they can take it without spoiling it. As much as I enjoy the US version, they have bent the "rules" quite a bit to make the series stretch further, and I'd hate the UK series to do the same. I would much rather have fewer, good quality episodes than see it run forever and lose it's spirit (no pun intended)

Agreed.

I wonder if anymore ghosts will get sucked off (!!) in the final series?
Poor old Robin deserves it, he's been there for so long.

I watched with my daughter (she's obsessed, I'm only up to series 2). We both bawled and daughter refuses to accept it's finished. She loves Ben (The Captain) and I may have a slight crush on Matt 🤭

Lovely ending. I'm glad they didn't get "sucked off". I'm also glad they only showed "old" Alison from behind so not to ruin it 🤣

Got her this for Xmas for her room...

I really liked how they introduced a new ghost with that guy in the field. They could do something similar with someone who becomes a permanent character. Maybe not living in the house but someone they see regularly.
Which reminds me- what happened to the creepy little girl from series 1? I loved that scene with her singing ring a ring a roses 😅

Need to know!
Love the fact that everyone knows the Captain is gay but it's just him, nothing's ever said.
This is one of my least favourite things about the US version. I don’t mind that the characters are Americanised versions of the uk ones but the US military character is too stereotypically gay. With the Captain you can tell he’s from a time when being gay was unacceptable and has learnt to hide it and you can only tell through subtle hints, were as the American one is very out there and not how you’d expect someone who died during the civil war to behave.
(I know it’s only a tv show but this really annoyed me 😅).

I can't think of a better upbringing for a child than growing up in a massive stately home with a bunch of friendly ghosts that they could potentially interact with

It's coming up for the anniversary of losing my mother in law and I needed a cry so I put "Gone, Gone" on and I'm now a complete wreck. It's so well written and sums up the human experience so well...

I've just seen this review in The Guardian which I think, for me, sums it up. I especially like this line .... 'Ghosts, thoughtful and kind to the end, has quietly said goodbye.'

That upset me more than the episode 😭😅
I did enjoy the part where the "exorcism " takes place and Alison takes a deep breath when she realises they are still there. But I agree, the episode was a little rushed. Too much mother in law and not enough of the ghosts themselves.

Golly gosh. Earlier today I was searching to see if there was a release date for series 5. As far as I could see there's no release date as yet. 😐 Anyway, what I did read was that our loveable scout master Pat's full name is Pat Butcher. I did not know that but I did find it funny 😄💘

I was thinking exactly this! The UK Ghosts ensemble writing/acting team is incredible - so talented, so subtle, so laugh-out-loud funny. Robin's character is marvellous, at once hilarious and yet sofull of profound pathos and humanity. That episode just after the Queen had died and the ghosts were outside looking up at the stars and Robin was pointing up, naming them for each friend he'd lost... and then he said something like, 'That one is Elizabeth' - well, bloody hell I was in bits at that. American tv and film have many strong qualities but short-form, intelligent/pathos-soaked comedy (which they, alas, make long-form!) just isn't a format that translates.
American here- been watching UK shows for decades- you do it so much better. So much more intelligence behind the humor and the writing.
I adore Ghosts and won’t watch the US version- will just keep re-watching the “real” one
