I am a huge Taylor fan and am SO disappointed she is supporting this extreme movement (The Equality Act that she is fighting for is dangerous and will allow all we have discussed in the USA).
This upsets me a lot as a bio woman.
I've been doing my research the past few days and much of this movement upsets me and it is disappointing that Taylor is supporting it. Has she even researched the erasure of women that is happening because of it?
- An Endometriosis charity announced they should no longer use "gendered language." No longer saying women in regards to endo. WTF. Notice this isn't happening to men?? They're not saying the prostate cancer community should drop gendered language. In fact, a cancer charity in the UK when talking about pap smears said it will not say "women" with a cervix, instead "everybody." Yet, for their prostate cancer campaigns, they still referred to it as a "male/men" cancer.
- At doctor's offices on posters for the "female reproductive system" they now blank out the word "female" so it just says "reproductive system." They are not doing this to men's posters.
- The Scottish government is trying to pass a self-id law. When someone currently wants to transition, they need a medical/psyc examination.
With this new bill, there would be no evaluation. They could just go online and fill in a form to change their gender/sex on their ID. They want to lower the age from 18-16.
- Civil service in the UK says they are now avoiding using the word "women" when referring to "menstruating." It is now acceptable to refer to women as "menstruaters" instead of gender. We are not referring to men as "ejaculators."
- Women are scared to speak out because we are labeled transphobic or a TERF. We are wanting to protect our laws and rights that we fought for. They are literally being erased to appease a group of people who want to be recognized as "women" but don't support our rights.... How does that make any sense? Now they also say it isn't just women that get pregnant, men can too. In fact, I read that now nurses are calling "breastfeeding" "chestfeeding" as breast is not inclusive. WTF.
I read this earlier (maybe a repeat for some): There is a word for a situation where women talking about female bodies is considered impermissibly antisocial, where describing the consequences of sexism for women is systematically impeded, where resources for women are redistributed to male users while resources for men are left in male hands, and where “male” and “female” are rigidly associated with masculinity and femininity. That word is not “progressive”, “liberal” or any of the other terms usually associated with trans activism. The word is misogyny. Trans rights should not come at the cost of women’s fragile gains.
I apologise for my rant but, I really struggle to accept Taylor supporting this extreme movement. Would she actually be OKAY with any of the above?? Why is she SO supportive of the radical trans movement? To gain new fans? To be "woke"? Much of what I listed above, I have said already on here but I want to group it all together to show how radical this movement is in the erasure of women.
