'transphobic dog whistle'??

I'm slowly losing the will to live šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø
Donā€™t

whilst they make a lot of noise on Twitter this law was passed with the correct wording. A lot of the bam pots tweeting have failed in their bid to gain more power or even been kicked out of positions of power

A lot of them who tweeted their outrage really are just howling in their own echo chamber or have even left twitter altogether ( hopefully for good this time Rhiannon)

Whilst not Gender critical I would probably be called a Terf (which at this point is water off a ducks back) I'm on Twitter (fefeohfefe)
I support the amendment to the forensic Bill. Something I wondered though..if a trans woman has a GRC are they classed as of the female sex and if so will this mean the updated wording will be meaningless in terms of what we hope it does ?

Exactly. But if you compare it to anorexia, trans people often say that's a transphobic dogwhistle and that GD not a mental health condition, it's an orientation, it's feelings, it's "who I've always been inside". On the other hand though, they're complaining about trans healthcare being denied to kids since the Keira Bell court case. Which is it?
Yep, and if itā€™s not a health issue, why is the NHS being dragged into it?

I think itā€™s insane that a person is allowed to lie about their sex on legal documents. Gender, go nuts. Sex? No.

The UK census for 2021 will be interesting. I remember the fuss last time about religion, where people were pushing for Jedi to be recognised as a religion. I expect there will be similar fuss this year regarding gender and sex.

Imo, that census had better have gender and sex separated on the form...

I am still, days later, absolutely gobsmacked by the Tavistock data and the fact that TRAs/anyone pro PBs who is in their right mind isn't rapidly climbing down from it. It is extremely deceptive that they kept this data from the court in Bell, knowing it was coming. Maugham, who just days ago was saying the GLP will be appealing on the basis of 'scientific evidence', for example. The more I read about it the more horrified I become. I read a very interesting thread yesterday on the issue of bone density - Tavi have tried to spin it as a positive that bone density of children on PBs 'remains the same' i.e. there isn't a decrease, but for all other children their bone density would increase. So that's years and years without bone density progression, opening those children up to stuff like osteoporosis. All because..what? They wanted to wear a dress? Wanted to play football? Parents can't parent their children and say no, wait until you're older? It's child abuse. That conclusion seems inescapable to me. And I cannot BELIEVE the gall of TRAs saying detrans people don't matter, or they're 'wrong' for putting their side out there. It's just so scary and cult like to me.

what's scarier is the fact that this case isn't being covered by media outside the uk

The BBC woman's hour coverage of puberty blockers interviewed two parents, one who was happy with the decision and another who was very worried. Both had children who had been referred to GIDS.
It was very balanced and reflected the complexity of the situation. Listen to this and the previous episode: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000q3gx

That was a combination of a joke / meme (to see if enough people could do it that Jedi would have to be recognised as an official religion for statistical purposes) and a kind of protest vote against Christianity being treated as the "default" or "majority", partly because of people checking the box on census forms even though they don't believe or practice. Whereas the genderists are deadly serious

Everything's a "transphobic dog whistle" with TRAs. I've seen them encouraging people not to quote or RT gender-critical or trans-critical posts even to criticise them because they're supposedly loaded with secret, coded "TERF" language that turns non-trans people against trans people. Yes, they really believe this

Top parenting, and also illegal I think.

These stupid stupid well meaning parents. Who ever peddled the idea that blockers are nothing but a ā€˜pauseā€™ button can burn in hell. Such a dangerous narrative thatā€™s taken a life of its own.

Canā€™t wait till 30 years down the line when we inevitably start seeing the consequences of all these people using blockers and hormones not designed for their biological sex. No doubt the nhs will be left to pick up the pieces, if it even exists by then.

A parent forcing a kid that young to have blockers when they don't understand the medical implications is akin to taking a child to a doctor who would perform illegal FGM, imo. It's physically harmful, surely against the children's rights, and is highly likely done because of the ego of the parent. Horrific. If a well informed adult wants to take drugs to change their body, go ahead, but to gofundme for a kid this young.... I, have no words. I still believed in tooth fairies at that age for goodness sake... Certainly not of an age to make such a critical decision about my life!

Itā€™s bleeping nuts. Canā€™t get my head round it. Canā€™t see where these parents are coming from at all. All I see is a healthy child who is perfect as they are, itā€™s really quite disgusting that parents confirm the idea to kids that their bodies are wrong and need changing. I grew up being told we should learn to love and accept ourselves as we are otherwise we will never be truly happy in life, seems to make sense to me. What the duck went wrong since then?

In my experience children who end up transitioning almost always have unfiltered, unsupervised access to the internet. The parents probably think their kids are watching peppa pig when really theyā€™re being brainwashed by TRAā€™s on YouTube.

affluent white woman disease? my broke mixed race body must have missed the memo. I'm sorry but this comes off as a narc narrative.
I cannot put into words how much I loath the term ā€œwhite cis womanā€. As if we are in the same category and have the same privileges as a ā€œwhite rich manā€. Just another way of trying to shut women up and put us in our place. It doesnā€™t even make sense being used in this context. Endo isnā€™t a disease that primarily affects white women, at least not to my knowledge, and I donā€™t know why theyā€™ve made that assumption.

Itā€™s also exclusionary. Not all us ā€˜terfsā€™ are white (lipstick alley is full of women like us). But I guess these types donā€™t see woc as people so that makes sense that they would exclude them and only use them when comparing to transwomen.

Iā€™m angry today. Some woke bro on my socials keeps posting about ā€˜terfsā€™ and how awful we are. Nothing to see here, just another straight dude wading in on a debate that has nothing to do with him. He knows little about all this beyond ā€œtranswomen are womenā€ and fully supports mermaids. Worst thing is heā€™s in the public eye to an extent and has a fairly decent platform to spread this nonsense. I am just waiting for the day this whole thing implodes. There will be so much egg on so many faces. Whether that be tomorrow or 20 years from now. I know in my heart Iā€™m on the right side.

This is a fairly ridiculous story basis. It literally states in the article that it takes most patients 10 years to receive a diagnosis for endo - that in itself is absolutely mental.

The world has gone nuts. Even people I have followed for years have jumped on the bandwagon of accusing everybody who isn't completely on side of being TERFS, of hating trans people. It's insane. And a lot of trans people and their allies are so swept up in the culture of being oppressed, the constant victims. So many people want to be the righteous victim these days. They love to grandstand.

How dare anybody question what they want to do!! I pity the parents who need time to process it, learn about it and question it bc it seems to me that unless you offer immediate acceptance and support then you're a bad parent.

There's really no point in me even saying I support trans people bc I'm automatically a bigot for worrying if 13 year olds are capable of making these decisions. The fact that I would be uncomfortable if I walked into a ladies toilet on my own and a man wearing a dress (not transitioned) was standing there automatically makes me the scum of the earth.

Anyway, there are many well informed people here making their point much better than me but it blows my mind how nasty ppl can get when you don't completely bend to their will.

Also i hope JK Rowling is having a nice day

Well the 10 years part I can believe, I've had horrid periods since my teens = light headed, bloated stomach, staying home from school, hard to stand up, etc.. and it's only now mid twenties after seeing a new doctor and explaining to her that I kept vomiting and staying in the shower spraying hot water on myself in complete agony for hours (4-6?) on end, and that I was having a bloated stomach even outside of my period, not being able to clean myself, that she then thought I had endo and reccomended several tests including an endo specialist to verify it.

I found out my diagnosis through pure luck, up until then I was being fed drugstore pain that had no effect on me and being told to suck it up, while I dreamed about tearing out my uterus and ovaries because = absolute hell.
