I think the problem is that straight men just don't get what the issue is as it doesn't have any bearing on them. They're like "what's the problem, just live and let live, they're not hurting anyone". They don't get it
Haha, none thankfully. He doesn’t go quite as far as the TWAW stuff, but he does buy into the whole, ‘they’re so marginalised, discriminated against’ bull. He certainly would never entertain having a relationship with one though. He just thinks I need to be ‘kinder’ and more ‘empathetic’ when it comes to the trans issue.I wonder how many former girlfriends of his before you got together had penises if TWAW and all that..![]()
I hate this SO much!! Also it's so ironic that when people say they don't want to share bathrooms with bio men because we have periods and sanitary products to change these idiots will always pipe up like 'iTs JuSt PErIoDs nObODy cArEs!!!' yet obviously they think we need a silent wrapper? Why do we need a silent wrapper if nObOdY cArEs about periods? From the brand that brought you “people who bleed” and “not all people with periods are women” comes a tampon product designed to make you feel ashamed of using sanitary products and the “noise” they make.
“Silent Wrappers.” duck. OFF. TAMPAX.
I’m already seeing suggestions that the “silent wrapper” will be helpful to trans men.

In the past few hours since that woman made that tweet, there are now comments aplenty about the “safety” of transmen. Even the OP saying she “didn’t realise this” and a TRA saying she should probably delete her tweet then. Also plenty of handmaidens saying how great the “silent wrappers” are because they would have wanted them in school. But they don’t want better for girls now, got it.I hate this SO much!! We don't need silent wrappers if we are in toilets with other women. The end.
Ugh if they are that scared then they should buy washable cloth pads like I do (I get irritated by disposable ones). Yet again a product used by half the population having to be reformulated for the minority. From the brand that brought you “people who bleed” and “not all people with periods are women” comes a tampon product designed to make you feel ashamed of using sanitary products and the “noise” they make.

It’s stigmatising periods even more than they are. Reinforcing horrid shaming tactics that every young girl knows. Shame that carries on into womanhood. But hey, if it helps the other “people with periods” who gives a tit.

I’m personally not permanently politically tied to one party or leaning over another - in my years of voting I’ve pretty much floated and voted for most of the major parties at some stage, depending on the issues of the time. It does seem to me at the minute that on Twitter the Labour “left” seems to be tearing itself apart with lots of in-fighting, lots of name calling and such. I know it is more nuanced than that but the UK “left” doesn’t seem to be a stable force at the minute. I think there’s definitely some mileage in what you say, from what I’ve seen online. This is just simply a personal musing / observation that I have been thinking about so happy to be corrected.
There seems to be a certain amount of anti-semetism by left wing middle class men, exemplified by key elements of the Labour party and their ilk. Additionally, I feel like the quiet institutional capture by TRAs has been spearheaded largely by white middle class left-leaning men. There seems to be a lot of crossover from self-identified liberals shouting ”terf” and “zionist”.
I could be wrong but it feels like unless you are born Jewish, you can’t easily influence and control what is going on within their group. Likewise, it’s hard to take over feminist groups / women’s movements without being a woman. You are competing for the same resources / positions / influence against a distinct group. It’s not enough to have the “right” connection or attended the “right” school or university.
Therefore, how much of this bull (anti semetism / TRA etc) is really a subversive attempt to infiltrate and control groups that are at odds with your biology / culture / class / race / religion.
To me, there seems to be a power struggle with regards to the left on this issue if it counts as “left wing” at all anymore.
What do others think?
Adding to what others have said, I don't think you're wrong that a lot of these causes / groups have been captured and spearheaded by middle class white men, who quite frankly, have little business doing so.This is just simply a personal musing / observation that I have been thinking about so happy to be corrected.

My husband gets it but it took a while. I really had to explain how women are being erased everywhere, even in medical settings. I was on the verge of tears as women fought so hard for equal rights. There is no need to erase one minority (women) to make another feel welcome.I think the problem is that straight men just don't get what the issue is as it doesn't have any bearing on them. They're like "what's the problem, just live and let live, they're not hurting anyone". They don't get it
I’m getting so fed up with online forms asking for my ‘gender’ and the options being male or female. That’s sex, not gender. I don’t “identify” as female, I am female. Here's a Doctor (who is more concerned with being Insta famous) in Ireland celebrating this:
Is gender identity not meaningless in a medical setting. FFS
It will be interesting what appears on the Census next year.I’m getting so fed up with online forms asking for my ‘gender’ and the options being male or female. That’s sex, not gender. I don’t “identify” as female, I am female.
