I also am just sick of this whole obsession anyway like...why does it matter if I’m male, female, or anything in between when sitting on a Committee? It’s not a Committee related to male or female or whatever issues, I’m not there to give my lived experience as a woman, I’m actually there in a semi professional capacity. We don’t need to be thinking about our gender or sex 24/7, I’m tired of everything I do being forcibly linked in some tenuous way to gender ideology.

I’ve been wondering about this for a while, specifically in the science subjects. I did what would now be considered a very transphobic leaving cert biology exam in 2010 for which we learned both the male and female reproductive system and would be given one on the exam to draw and label. How are students going to do that now? Just learn one and draw it for whatever comes up or write an impassioned essay about how sex isn’t real and how your feelings are what is important?
Are we eventually going to have to take biology out of science?
I wouldn’t be surprised at this point.

Good point, I can imagine kids petitioning schools to change their curriculum before long.

I wanted to add that we had training on autism too... why haven't I been asked to state whether I am on the autistic spectrum after my name? What about my sexual orientation? Hidden disabilities? Religion? Political allegiance?!? Why am I being asked to state the one thing that is BLINDINGLY obvious?!?

Just catching up but also came to say I finally got pronouned too - asked to put them in my Zoom name on a committee I volunteer for. I said I didn’t want to as my pronouns aren’t my name, I don’t put my title or any other info about myself there that isn’t my name so why would I want pronouns there? Some clown said ‘so we know we’re not misgendering you’ !!! Anyway I just said I’m not doing it, when we are conversing I expect to be called ‘you’ anyway and what you use when speaking about me to others is none of my business/I don’t care. I noticed a couple of other ladies looked uncomfortable at being asked to put their pronouns up too, none of the men minded though

Yes because a lot of men love affirming that they are in fact, men. I bet they loved it!

Just wanted to say I'm proud of all the pronoun pushback. And also that I've started speaking up on this in real life and it feels good. Was so afraid to, but you know what? They can't cancel us all so let them try. And if I can "peak trans" anyone along the way so much the better

We also discussed how places could ‘help’ by having gender neutral bathrooms. I put on my brave face (I know it’s only Zoom but I’m shy) and said that in my teenage daughter’s school, where they ripped out the male/female loos to make cubicles in the corridors, she won’t go to the toilet all day. This is due to worry about noise: toilet and sanitary products. Someone else said their daughter has had UTIs due to the same thing in a similar set up and I was so happy to see others saying that we still need separate toilets. I said a third space is surely the best way forward that give everyone the option and that my daughter’s safe space has now been taken away. I hope that line made some of them think but I doubt it.

Those are excellent points. TRAs think that we think the biggest threat to shared spaces is violence (and they get offended as it feels like people are saying they're all monsters) but it's much more complex than that. That makes me sad that teenage girls can't use the toilets, we all remember what it was like to be a teenage girl and how self conscious you can be

Has anyone seen that new children’s book “Brenda is a Sheep?”

The book goes against everything we tell our children about stranger danger. And someone have drawn an interesting parallel between this book and the trans issue.

If any of these gender obsessed plonkers want to push this nonsense, a short, sharp shutting down is needed. To use a phrase, “nip that in the bud” ASAP!

It’s so irritatingly regressive the way they are disproportionately obsessed with gender. When I go into to work, all I ask is to be respected for what I do and for my profession. I don’t want attention drawn to my sex or “gender” thanks. It’s bad enough that I have to work extra hard at my job because some managers are total misogynists and discount what I say because I’m a woman. Why the duck would I want to draw extra attention to my perceived inferior status as female?!

But this "apologizing" is the thin end of the wedge because if someone says anything to do with gender, race, age, whatever, these days someone somewhere will be offended and head off to social media to make a big deal of it.

This football guy resigned because of semantics, but as we know we have to apologize over pronouns even though we think it is quite ridiculous.

People can't say "large", can't say "thin", can't say "housewife", can't say "immigrant" can't say blah blah. When will it all end one wonders?

I think the differences is that ones like = coloured people, the n word, f*g, d*ke etc have historical negative connotations and were used to oppress, and discriminate against others during violent times. So imo not using them is completely justified. Edit to add: ethnicity, sexual orientation, sex is something you can't change. large/thin, pronouns, are meaningless (zir? really) and you can change them.

Where I think we've gone overboard is the whole pronouns thing - since new ones keep being invented every second, large, thin, immigrant (this is a 50/50 one) and other terms that hold no historical weight of oppression.

If someone makes an honest mistake like that football player depending on the context, I don't think people should cancel him. But it shows someone is humble to recognize they did something wrong, made a mistake and are willing to learn.

Today I read on Reddit that some trans think women shouldn't wear dresses because it identifies as feminine, which they object too!

I wish feminist groups would rise up on social media and throw some tit at these people, and give them a taste of their own medicine

I find it weird how they want everyone to comply with their way of thinking/doing. the pronoun thing is inane in my book. I mean I thought the whole point of them changing their appearance was to naturally pass, have people assume m/f like they do to everyone else? a bit confusing. Don't get me started on that bathroom nonsense, does anyone relish the thought of removing a pad or tampon, or doing your business with a man nearby?

Yeah that's absurd and would turn countries into an authoritarian state, also don't they want to be feminine? confusing as hell right?

Thing with the trans cult is that they already had the same rights as everyone else, they don't just want to be called by a certain pronouns, they want things that directly come into conflict with other people's rights but they don't care. We've become so complacent and take things for granted we don't see it.

I looked in the mirror a short while ago, and said out loud "I am a woman!"

I just wanted a momentary sanity-check because the way things are going on I won't be able to say that without offending some delicate fuckwit

(Apologies for my appalling language btw! I used to be a delicate flower before finding Tattle, and this thread in particular )

I shall be off to bed shortly, but before I slip between the sheets I'll get undressed, stand in front of the full-length mirror, check myself and then say out loud "Yep, I still identify as a woman, for another day at least!"

Saw this on Twitter from a proud Mum "I love my son so much". It made me cringe so hard and my sympathies go out to the poor teacher. It's hard enough dealing with teenagers as it is without adding this nonsense into the mix

Also, just to go back on this, the kid is incorrect (even taking the nonsense gender argument out of it). The question is 29= a- b. If a is 17, what is b. It's a maths question and the answer can't be, well it depends on c as that's not part of the equation. This tit gives me the rage!

Honestly I think the best response is just - 'No.'
They can't make you do this. I can't see a way it is legal.
'I don't want to display my sex.' protected characteristic in equality legislation; personal data under GDPR.
'but it's not about your sex, it's about your gender.'
'Well I don't believe in gender ideology.' article 9 ECHR - freedom of thought and belief.

Dangerous game for employers to be playing, IMO.

I've actually never thought about it from this viewpoint. I started my period when I was in primary school (aged 8) and I remember being terrified and opening sanitary towels as quietly as I could in the toilet cubicle preying no other girls would hear me. I can only imagine how I would have felt if I thought boys could hear me too. I've had babies now and I still feel nervous opening sanitary pads in the toilet! Sorry to hear this has happened to your daughter. Your post has really made me think xx

What made me laugh (cry) was that in the morning we watched a funny video on ‘colourblindness’ and the woman on it (I am only assuming she is a woman, of course ) goes on to say she doesn’t even see people’s sex now, everyone is just a blob to her. The men she’s with say she’s being ridiculous and it’s human nature to see differences.
By the afternoon, we were having a talk by someone else where the terms ‘male person’ and ‘female person’ were being used! You mean man and woman? I even referenced the video when asked to give my pronouns and said- it’s obvious I’m a woman and everyone can see that, REMEMBER THE VIDEO FROM 2 HOURS AGO?! The one where they said it’s a load of BS to not notice differences in race/sex/age etc?!?

I actually hate the whole concept of colourblindness and people being sexless etc. It isn't equality to treat all groups the same, this just allows people to ignore that some groups are oppressed or marginalised etc and do nothing about it. For example, saying 'I don't see colour' prevents us from putting much needed measures in place to even the playing field for POC. It's not progressive and I actually find it quite offensive in general. It's like someone saying 'ah yes we've always been racist and sexist and homophobic but TA DA! Can't see those things we used to discriminate against, so everything is equal and fine now' when that's just...not the case.

OMG is that not the equivalent of saying "I can't see race"
