I saw this mentioned on Mumsnet yesterday, but I got the Disability Rights ebulletin today and the link to this news piece was included.

Absolutely no mention of disabled people having a right to same sex care it is all about the poor trans person and biology is oh so complicated. There is, of no suprise, a link to a blog by a trans disabled member of staff. I'm guessing with this gem it is a TiM.

The impact of transphobic violence is also disabling – being permanently paralysed, losing sight or having bones broken are all real-life consequences of violent street attacks on Trans people. Just like how many toilets throughout the country are not accessible for Disabled people, Trans people are developing debilitating conditions and bladder problems from being unable to use public bathrooms for fear of harassment.

Your bladder problems are generally of your own making though. Even without any surgery, cross sex hormones will do untold damage to the body.

Have we had clarification yet on how they're going to deal with people who fraudulently changed their legal documents (ID, passport and birth certificate) yet? Now that we have the clarification from the supreme court of what a woman is, I'm slightly worried about those who've changed those documents. Despite the fact you can tell a TIM from a woman, how will female only places deal with the issue if it states on their new birth certificate that the TIM was apparently born female? I'm hoping there's a simple answer, or that the updated birth certificate has the old sex on too.

This thought came in my head after remembering someone I previously had as a friend who transed their eldest son and then when he was 9 they changed his birth certificate and passport. This is after transing the son at 4, who had 2 younger male siblings. They kept moving and last I know lived in Scotland. Her, her husband and the 3 boys.

(ETA spelling transing as trancing, quite suited really.)

Oh god, my heart actually just sank because I believe I know this family if not, I know a family in an eerily similar situation who also moved to Scotland - I’d never made that connection before but I wonder if it was to directly linked to the self ID law change.

Disability Rights get back in your lane! You're supposed to represent all disabled people, not just a few of them. What about the rights of a disabled woman to be in a hospital ward without a man in the next bed to her?

"Around half of Trans people are also Disabled". Why would that be I wonder?

Recognising that trying to protect the characteristics of ‘sex’ and ‘gender reassignment’ are fundamentally incompatible goals would be a start.

I was wondering if that trans judge had anything to do with the Equal Treatment Bench Book (the book that advises judges on how individuals should be treated in court, and which was instrumental in getting judges to force grape victims to refer to their rapists as "she", and similar insults added to injuries).

I don't know, but it occurred to me that he might have had a lot of influence such an area.

I can't work out DRUK, on some subjects it feels very much that their opinion is the 'right opinion' for all disabled people. Another article today was about the "Right to die' bill and their opinion that it is inherently evil. I know it is a very diversive topic, but there will be disabled people who are and have been lobbying for years for this and they are just being ignored. I see this with the Trans issue, all eggs in one basket with no consideration of what the clarification means from a positive angle. Why aren't they fighting for the right to same sex care, surely that is a more important issue?

With the half of trans people being disabled, that was also touched upon on MN, possibly a very small self selecting study (no suprise there) came to that conclusion. It seems like anything it is just wildly accepted as a truth without anyone questioning why.

OJ would be very much of the women should "reframe their trauma" school of thought. He would claim that women have nothing to fear from TIMs and anyone who claims otherwise is being hysterical while also TIMs should have immense fear of men and that fear is completely justified.
