I had a huge row with my neighbour weeks ago - she strongly supports a political party that are ( surprisingly) all trans rights in their manifesto ( we had general election b4 xmas) I had seen this case in the paper- she was all “live & let live” of course I was raging at the idea of a full bodied male in a female space - she told me I’m transphobic🫣 I asked if her 6 year old granddaughter encountered him in a swimming pool changing room? would that be ok? she shifted in her chair uncomfortably but didn’t backtrack from the “doing no harm “ mantra - I have not discussed it being on currently -
not saying your hubby is like this - but my neighbour likes to give the impression she has her finger on the political pulse- then it turns out she has only a fraction of the story- God I love tattle can’t vent about the case without being called names
Luckily my husband agrees with me about men claiming to be women (although I have to keep the ranting to a minimum). I know more men IRL who agree with my terfy views than women unfortunately.

I've cut contact with a number of women I used to be friendly with over this issue because i now see them as blinkered idiots, all are typical liberal progressive middle class trans maidens who are firmly entrenched supporters of the Labour Party and all the be kind rit. I just don't want to associate with them anymore.

She’s got him on the ropes. If he believed she was a serious risk to patients, he should have reported it. So either he’s lying or he’s incompetent. Or both!

I've been re reading the excellent Hounded by Jenny Lindsay and she states three core beliefs.

Core Belief 1 : Women are materially definable as a class of human being. That means that the category definition 'woman' describes those humans who are adult and who are female. The only criterion for being a woman is to be a female girl who survives into adulthood. No other criterion are necessary. No personality traits, no interests, no adornment or style of dress, no mandatory life-style choices must flow from this definition. This is the realm of category definitions and not value judgements.

Core Belief 2 : Women ( as adult female humans) are culturally, legislatively, and politically important, with their own sets of needs, rights and concerns. On of the basis of being female, such women assert the need in particular for female only spaces, sports, other services in the basis of privacy, dignity and or safety.

Core Belief 3 : Where social, cultural or legislative trends are underway, ones that may diminish women's rights and or liberation, then Women have a right to meet and discuss freely what affects their lives profoundly. As such when, women's events are protested disproportionately via attempts to shut them down or to intimidate attendees, the women involved will respond with even more rigorous calls for debate and the reassertion of their right to freedom of speech and expression.

Lindsay states than whenever a woman has been 'hounded' in the gender wars, it is for expressing or acting upon one, two or all three of this trio of beliefs.

Obviously Dr Upton has a problem with Sandie asserting her rights under Core beliefs 1 and 2

And obviously he is still a pig headed MAN!

Just thinking, he's at a tribunal (?) giving terrible answers with a snippy attitude. If he's ill-mannered enough to do this in public what was he like in a changing room?
Ugh.

Correct!

Something else that occurred to me last night too. When he was questioned about why he’s able to answer NC’s questions with relative calm and certainly extensively, he said because ‘I’m expecting it’.

He didn’t *expect* a ‘lowly” (in his eyes), nurse to question him. That’s what this comes down to. He knows he’s over a barrel with NC, but SP? No, she shouldn’t have questioned anything!

Life in the Upton homestead must be a bundle of laughs.

Early on Xmas morning - when most of us would be considering an extra Baileys - they are fabricating a case against SP - she is as bad as he is - at one point he refers to her as 'they'.

The Crowdfunders are just glorious. Lots of people giving £5/10 and many in support of her.

I'm thinking some on DU's are teasing, especially the £1 ones with the donator being "biggirlpants"

Agree. I don’t care if someone is trutrans. I don’t care if they have a GRC. I don’t care if they’ve had all the surgeries. I don’t care if they’re quiet and unassuming. They still haven’t changed sex.
I agree. This is what got us here - legislating based on the feelings of a few, rather than the material reality of half of the population.

The reason I know TRAs are highly narcissistic is that they equate refusal to participate in their self-image as an attack on their very existence.

I have no desire to stop anyone living however they like. I think gender non-conforming people are the same as any other and should be treated in law like any other.

How someone dresses or feels about their identity is irrelevant to me (as it should be to anyone), but they hate that. They don't want to be irrelevant, because they're self-obsessed, as we see time and time again.

There is literally nothing about the way anyone feels, be they in genuine distress, or paraphilic, a predator or completely harmless that has any impact on their sex.

If you went to an appointment with a trans Dr, would you be offered a female chaperone or would they count him as female?
I queried this when I needed a womb inspection, and the hospital confirmed that there was a possibility that both the monographer and the chaperone could be biologically male, though it was unlikely. I said that I didn't mind a male (non-TW) sonographer if I had a biologically female chaperone, and that if the sonographer was female and the "chaperone" was male I'd rather do without one thank you, but under no circumstances would I be prepared to be alone for such an intimate examination with two male-bodied people, or even with a female-bodied person and a male-bodied chaperone, and I didn't care how they identified.* The hospital asked for a few moments to check, and rang me back after ten minutes or so, with an assurance that there would be at least one biological woman present and that would be the sonographer. I made up my mind to do without a chaperone if "she" turned out to be a bloke. As it happened I had a female sonographer and a female chaperone. When I continued to have problems and was re-examined a few months later I had a male sonographer (camp as Christmas, as it happens 😂 ) and a female chaperone.

In fairness, I think the hospital were in the position of having to warn women this (2 men) could happen, but they did make it clear on the appointments letter that if this wasn't acceptable to get in touch and they'd sort something out. I think that 99.99% medical staff are up to their back teeth with this shyte as well.

*Writing this down it seems complicated, but it was actually pretty straightforward.

He’s sad to think people may feel they can’t approach him? Is he for real?

Impossible to tell tone completely but my GOD, he seems to come out with a haughty remark every few minutes. Wanker.
Why do you need the GMC code memorised to know the timeframe in which you should report a patient safety concern?

As a doctor you are obligated to act within the guidelines set out by the GMC (and NICE etc.) and it's your responsibility to do so.
