Is this the same one as Heliogabalus? He was obsessed with one particular young man, married a horse and worshipped a giant rock (after having it dragged through the streets every year) as far as I can remember.

I’m surprised the trans community hasn’t claimed Nero as one of their patron saints. After all, following the death of one of his wives, he decided to castrate and marry a youth who resembled her, making sure there was a dowry and bridal veil. He was another one who was barking mad and cruel to boot.

Transing dead people reminds me of LDS (Mormons) baptising dead people by proxy. Not keen on the idea of any religion making decisions for me after my death, same as claiming historical figures are trans, it's not their story to tell.

Mae Martin isn’t a les. There is no issue with being bisexual of course, but she occupies cultural space / space in the perception of others as a les without being one (which annoys me).

What she has said about “microdosing” with testosterone is worrying misinformation for any young people who look up to her.

Incidentally, in my experience a lot of FtMs and female “non-binaries” are not lesbians and often date men (the biological kind).

Edit: has she had “top” surgery? Sigh.
Genuinely curious as to why you're purposefully misgendering Mae? Their pronouns are they/them. It's basic respect.

You say that they: "occupies cultural space / space in the perception of others as a les without being one (which annoys me)". Firstly, their sexuality has nothing to do with you. Secondly, Mae has no control over how others perceived them, nor should they care. Maybe get annoyed about things that actually concern you?

So an Emperor can't Emper adequately and the logical conclusion is: sounds like he might actually be a woman? And people can't see this 'movement' for the regressive, sexist claptrap it is?

Ha yes - that thought did occur to me too 🙄 the trans group can have him. I’d rather his insane actions weren’t associated with women in any way

She's a woman and nobody is obligated to alter their perfectly correct use of the terminology we use to refer to women.

Genuinely curious why you’ve bumped a post of mine from more than a week ago? Looking for a post to virtue signal at?

A les is allowed an opinion about someone who has to have it dragged out of them that they’re bisexual (which of course I said in my post is no issue with Mae being, so your “Firstly” is pointless anyhow — it’s the silly pretending otherwise / being obtuse I take issue with when les visibility is vital) after presenting as a les.

You have no control over which pronouns I use. Maybe get annoyed about things that actually concern you?

Probably didn't think there might actually be lesbians on this thread. 🤣

Oh if you're genuinely curious I'm happy to answer. Love Mae Martin and searched for them on here to see if they had a thread. Unfortunately it took me to your ignorant post.

You're a les? Even more baffling to me that someone in the queer community can't comprehend the concept of identifying as non-binary. Mae never identified as les as far as I know but even if they did, sexuality is fluid.

You're concerned with les visibility? Imagine how non-binary people feel.

Must be restrictive and miserable living such a black and white, unforgiving existence.

I'm not virtue signalling I just take issue with people being willfully ignorant.

Going by your previous posts about another woman's body shape and mental health I don't think this is the right thread for you.
We discuss issues concerning women and how our spaces, athletic wins and language in reference to our bodies is being erased amongst other important subjects that affect us all as women.

If someone using the wrong pronoun is going to upset you so much there's a button which allows you to block a whole thread.

And it is ignorant of you to assume that @SkippyDoo is ‘someone in the queer community.’ She is a les which means she is same-sex attracted, not part of the TQIA+ idealogues. Stop false teaming LGB people with people who believe you can ‘identify’ in and out of social constructs and sexualities. Sexual orientation is not something you ‘identify’ as.

Yes. Before he became emperor he was head of a religious cult of sun worshipers in Syria, one of their religious relics being a volcanic rock. So he tried to change the Official Religion of Rome to his own hence the yearly rock possession. It probably sounds crazy to modern audiences, until you realise that a current worldwide religion even today mandates a regular pilgrimage to another country to walk five times around another rock. Tell me again how society has developed since Roman times?

The horse thing I believe was Caligula.

Yep if the trans community want Elagabalus they can have. Doesn’t do a lot to dispel the theory of trans being a mental disorder.

A lot of examples of historical sexual fluidity. The trans lobby don’t seen quite a keen to claim them. I wonder why?

I see, so you jumped into a thread without any context, found a post and jumped on that.

We can safely say from your posts that you didn’t realise a les was writing about why Mae Martin basically posing as a les / failing to correct the assumption she was one, might be very annoying, so case closed there. Just for information, lesbians are allowed to talk about this and other things that affect them, without you policing this (whether you’re a les yourself or not).

As for the gender identity element, it isn’t “living a black and white existence” to recognise biological sex. If you think it is “boring” in some way to be aware that being female is real and quite meaningful and you can’t identify out of nor into it, this thread might not float your boat, though in my experience genuine exchanges of views here are welcome. We can all of course play look, look, I’ve found a post that’s wrong! — and engage in “I’m the most open-minded, the best observer of pronouns etc” if that’s our choice.

What I find boring is acting like coming up with or banging on about endless new identities is in some way edgy or modern or more intelligent or worthy than noting what biological reality means for all of us but especially girls and women, or that it’s somehow further forward than the idea Mae Martin can present and act as gender-non-conforming as she wants, or not, and still she is a woman. What’s truly tedious is acting like most people aren’t a little bit “non-binary” once it is clarified what “non-binary” actually means, to the point that it’s basically a pointless term. One concerning part being that that doesn’t stop top surgery for women being part of the expected look once this very freeing identity rolls around, whereas of course men don’t really have to do anything.

In the 80s, we all knew Boy George was a man. In the 90s, Eddie Izzard knew he was, and a transvestite too, and how honest of him. We seem to have gone backwards now. Gender ideology isn’t open-mindedness writ large but simple sexism. “Gender criticals” have very diverse and fluid ideas of gender in comparison to those who think it’s possible to “feel” like a woman or not (even if you are one), they (we, let me get the pronouns right!) just always recognise biological sex.

Non-binary is simply nonsense. Ultimately, people are either male or female and a small percentage are intersex, which is not the same thing.

Skip, I couldn’t love this post more ❤

And for what it’s worth, I quite enjoy Mae Martin’s comedy and she seems like a lovely person. No judgement on her from me. I don’t go along with they/them pronouns as it’s nonsense but that doesn’t mean I have any hate for Mae, or anyone who says they are non binary. People who go around correcting pronouns on behalf of others are the most virtue signalling and smug people, and are actually the ones who are intolerant. Because news flash, you’ll spend literally the rest of your life correcting people because as I said above, it’s nonsense and there will always be people who don’t go along with it but also, you cannot control another person’s words (or opinions). So just don’t even try.

Even the phrase ‘gender nonconforming’ baffles me. Who the duck decided there are rules? This is actually what angers me, the argument trans people make is WE are reducing people down to stereotypes or genitalia when the whole community is predicated on the idea that if you as a boy don’t love trucks football & climbing trees and prefer crafting or reading or dress up or whatever then you must be a girl. And if you’re a girl who hates those things but wants to play football and get covered in mud, and hate dresses? BOY!

It’s insanity. If we stopped forcing stereotypes on small kids it’d be a strong start!
