Like every media outlet then? I recall an article by The Guardian blaming women being mass grape by migrants in Germany on New Years Eve because “the German women had iPhones and the migrants might have been jealous by that”. When people rightly condemned them for the article they blamed it on right wing media frothing people up. The Daily Mail, The Guardian, The BBC, The Telegraph, The Metro…all doing the same stuff, just cut from different parts of cloth.
Do you have a link to that Guardian article? I've looked at their coverage of that coordinated mass assault in Germany on NYE 2015/16 and can only find measured reports, very concerned about the women, and about what the event might mean for public perception of Merkel's open door immigration policy at that time. There were 2 rapes reported as part of the multiple gropings and harassments experienced by women that night. Nothing about women having iPhones, though they do mention muggings as a possible motive for some of the perpetrators.

Nor nowhere, as far as I can see, has anyone on here said “Pride organisers forced Met Police to ditch badge in order to protect LGBT people at Pride.” The original post said the police were policing the police. You said the police should get the flak, as per so said the article. What is your point?
---

As disgusting as the photo was, it REALLY turned this saga and peoples opinions on the subject around and into public consciousness. I noticed that the BBC and The Guardian always used a cropped photo of just head and waist. Very telling. The photographer that took the photo really earned their chops that day.
Exactly! They showed him as what he really is, a man pretending to be a woman! The photos were gross and there was no way of hiding it!

No it wasn’t directed at you, I thought you might think that after I posted, and I thought of editing but didn’t - the caveat would have been that as this forum is IMO the most “grown up” forum I’ve ever been on, my comment wasn’t directed at anyone here because nobody I have encounter on here acts like that. Had it occurred on Reddit, Digital Spy, MN, Datalounge etc, there would have been several users it was made to be a spiky point about.

And your first point: yes and no, but mostly no.
“Smoking a fag” means shooting a gay guy in America and inhaling a cigarette in the UK. Should we ban the phrase “smoking a fag” or just the word “fag” in the UK because of connotations from America, a younger country with younger practices and language?
Oh I love Datalounge. We’ve probably argued on there without knowing it. 😂

I think comparing events/situations with words or phrases is a false equivalence. Though to answer your question, I’m not in favour of banning any words, though I wouldn’t use that word myself.

“Liberals shouldn’t be afraid to ask hard questions. Young German women thankfully enjoy historically unprecedented economic and sexual freedom, with their expensive smartphones and their right to celebrate New Year’s Eve however they want. The same isn’t always true of young male migrants exchanging life under repressive regimes, where they may at least have enjoyed superiority over women, for scraping by at the bottom of Europe’s social and economic food chain. It is not madness to ask if this has anything to do with attacks that render confident, seemingly lucky young women humiliated and powerless.”

I'm just looking at the reasons why the Met did it and that was because the thin blue line emblem is linked to far right groups in the US. Not all far right groups are influenced by the media, but they certainly don't help with their articles. That's why the DM acting all shocked is really galling to me. They're part of the same machine that stokes the right wing, then have the audacity to feign shock when the result of those actions play out.
Ok so the met removed a badge because of its similarity to a symbol used by right wing groups in the US who may have been directly or indirectly influenced by the DM or other right wing media and you come to the conclusion that it's the fault of the right wing media whereas I see it as the met being too PC and fearful to the point of paranoia of a backlash from the left (which might not even have happened as nobody involved in Pride seems to have requested this). You seem to think it's right wing chickens coming home to roost as if it's a direct result of the DM editorial policy but I think it's yet another sign that some institutions have lost touch with reality and the people they serve.

This breastfeeding dude is peaking people; this is good.
Wonder what sort of cancer they had??? Cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, testicular cancer???

And please, someone who knows about stuff like this, please don't tell me that modern day parenting encourages adoptive mothers to breast feed their adopted babies???

This person is a total fruit loop and I would really like to know how they acquired this baby!!!

I know work with a few young lassies who all identify as queer. Even the ones who are in hetro relationships. Thankfully I wasn't in that office today or else I'd have had complaints made against me.

Honest to God, surely even they'd struggle to justify this nutjob!!!

When my daughter was a baby my husband helped to feed her by giving her formula milk in a bottle. Why on earth couldn't that TIM do that?
Because it’s not about the baby and its needs. It’s not about milk or giving the baby the right nutrition. It’s NEVER about the babies, it’s about their gross fetishes and validation and the baby is just a tool to achieve that.

Nah, it doesn’t happen.

Not least because the care system (in this country at least) doesn’t involve the immediate relinquishing of a newborn straight into the arms of adoptive parents, although this does happen sometimes in the States I think. Usually, the baby spends months in foster care before being put up for adoption. Foster mothers for sure aren’t wet nursing babies.

If any prospective adoptive mother really is taking drugs to promote milk production, I’d say it’s very rare and unlikely to last more than a short time.

Love to see it!

I mean what an egotist. Managed to use his work connections to get a prime segment on ITV News, pretending to be just an ordinary mum, doing ordinary laydee things. Smug as you like. And, apparently, thought it would pass without anyone going WTF? The screenshot of the public “breastfeeding” is just the icing on the cake.

Only a bloke could have so much confidence.
Lets not forget the not so subtly placed baby bottle in his ITV piece ...

I believe his wife/partner got pregnant via insemination from his sperm.

I think inducing lactation in relation to adopting is more common in the US but it does happen. Many women in a same sex relationship who don’t carry the baby can also do it.

There is a whole protocol; https://ibconline.ca/induction/

What's your thoughts on women becoming men? I have a colleague whose daughter was firstly les then wanted to be a man. This was since 14. She's 20 now and having top surgery, hormones etc. The talk on here seems to be about men becoming women. I feel like in my friends case, it's about some home life trauma she went through. She changed her mind so much throughout her teens I worry what will happen when she has full surgery if she changes her mind again. Thanks for having me, I'm new but love your posts here and I've learned a lot. I've just got my name badge pronouns removed. Lol.

I think it's very sad that anyone wants to mutilate their body under the illusion that they can change sex. If it was my daughter I'd be heartbroken and would be trying my best to stop her. What's wrong with just being a les?
20 is too young to ruin your life with invasive surgery that will have lasting consequences.

I think it’s bleeping tragic.

Girls destroying their bodies because they don’t want to be female. And I can think of lots of very compelling reasons why they don’t want to be female. But the solution isn’t to cut your breasts off and take testosterone. You can’t actually run away from yourself even if you try REALLY hard.

I saw these tweets the other day from a detransitioner which I thought were really powerful.

Ah glad to see you here too 🤗 you’re definitely my people 🤣
Your poor friend and this poor young woman 💔 detransitioner voices are so so powerful. If your friend could maybe say.. look I support you but I wondered if it might be helpful to hear some voices from those that have been through this and have regrets. I’ll link some of these young women’s Twitter accounts and they often can be found on podcasts or YouTube also.

Detransitioners are (nearly?) always women. It’s almost like women are realising they can’t become a man and it won’t solve their problems, while men have a fetish.

There are a few young men telling their stories now. I think young women are transing at an alarmingly high rate so that may be why there feels like there’s more. There is a young lad in the papers today telling his story. Just awful.

Great that the papers published it. They have such sad stories and they've all been let down by adults who should have known better.

The promotion of sex work to young people as a way to pay for surgery / treatments is alarming to me, here is everybody’s favourite The Mail reporting on a leaflet that was withdrawn

A clinic which receives NHS funding has been promoting prostitution as a way for transgender people to pay for their transition treatment, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

Being a sex worker ‘can be useful and sometimes empowering’, according to a guide produced by CliniQ, a sexual counselling service for transgender people at King’s College Hospital in London. It adds: ‘It can help us pay for parts of our transition.’

The booklet by CliniQ, which is part-funded by King’s College NHS Trust and three London local authorities, also suggests that transgender men – people born in female bodies but transitioning to male – can hide the fact that they are trans when visiting gay sex parties.

Despite being targeted at pre-operative trans men – many of whom are in their late teens and early 20s – the booklet makes only a fleeting reference to pregnancy.

LGB Alliance, an organisation that stands up for gay and women’s rights, last night demanded that NHS chief executive Amanda Pritchard and Health Secretary Sajid Javid order the booklet to be ‘immediately removed’. King’s College Hospital last night said it had been withdrawn.

In a letter to health chiefs, the alliance said: ‘We are writing to express our alarm that an NHS publication is encouraging the sexual assault of gay men through the criminal act of sex by deception and is promoting prostitution as a way to fund gender reassignment.

I think it's horrific butchering of the body and it doesn't fool anyone.
