No you didn’t. He’s become a poster boy for girls with eating disorders. They want a body like his, even though he’s a man and they will never look like that.

Yes that’s sort of the point, when a woman says “sorry, what exactly are these men doing in our supposedly women’s rights movement when they’re massively and proudly anti women’s rights?” the answer is more or less ‘oh just look over there instead, go away’. I’ve seen it on the mums site too. Women aren’t supposed to question the men or their real motives, we’re supposed to just keep quiet about their presence, even if we know they’re not acting in our interests. Some parallels with the TRAs there.

It was real, sadly. I had a look on the thread and it was chock full of young girls saying they desperately want to look like "her." Someone posted saying "hey your post is being widely shared among transphobes, please take it down." Ah cause the main concern is men's hurty feeliles, not the scores of kids on the thread glorifying self-mutilation and starvation? There were girls saying they wanted a mastectomy because they know it's the only way to achieve that level of thinness across their chest. It would be interesting to know the proportion of young girls "identifying" as male or non-binary with eating disorders and how accessible surgeries like elective breast amputation are to them.
I think I must have liked almost every post about Kellie-Jay Keen, Jordan Petersen, and Matt Walsh, with all the differences of opinion... It is a difficult one because there aren't many prominent left-leaning public figures standing for women's rights and so I see why KJK sides with conservatives on gender issues. I do think she needs to be careful as a public figure, to be a bit more cautious about her allyship and some of the things she says, but realistically she is a lay person, not a graduate of some Oxbridge debating society, so it's no surprise that she won't get it right all of the time. Unfortunately the TRAs will jump on any opportunity to discredit her, and the entire GC/radfem movement, so we need her to keep the heid. I wish she'd ditch the "I never lose" catchphrase

I'm a union member at work, mainly for cheap car insurance 
anyway the rep handed me a leaflet today about their seats and forthcoming elections. They have reserved seats for different minority groups which I didn't know before but at least a real woman is currently occupying the female seat 
On the back of the leaflet it says they are committed to trans equality. What exactly does that mean?
I work for a public body where all forms of discrimination are frowned on from a great height so I don't understand what they are actively campaigning for. We already have gender neutral toilets. They also want action on climate change and want us all to go out on strike due to price rises.
I can't afford to go on strike as I won't get paid at all then.
Am wondering if the cheap car insurance is worth it now.

I empathise. I am post menopausal and have same symptoms (and more) due to hormone suppression medication following breast cancer. Between a rock and a hard place....

When did it become a thing that to agree with someone on one thing by definition means you agree with them on everything? l’m sure we’ve all been in a situation where you can agree with person a on issue z, but can disagree fundamentally with them on issue y.

I went on a date probably 3 years ago with someone who said he voted Tory at the last election. He also said there are areas in some cities that have ended up with immigrants from different groups who don’t mix with any one else and don’t adhere to UK social norms. He asked me what I thought about ‘trans children’ and I came out with the usual handmaiden crap like, ‘Well if it makes them feel better and not depressed etc etc’
At the time I came away from the date thinking, what a shame, a racist, transphobic Tory voter, not for me! Little did I know that 3 years later I would be more aligned with him than ever (and no just on trans issues). I would hate to vote Tory but I honestly can’t vote Labour knowing the lead REFUSES to admit that women don’t have penises, FFS. I’ll have to spoil my vote as I can’t morally do it. And he’s right, there are some places that have no mixing between cultures and I probably wouldn’t fancy walking around on my own due to the male behaviour from certain cultures. As for trans kids… well. I would never have thought in a million years I would think the above, but here we are!
I don’t align with any political party and have never really understood politics as a concept really. I get that people have opinions on how best to run countries but how you can really feel you belong to a political party is beyond me.
I think we should look at those places with the best data (happiness, life expectancy, Pisa scores, gdp..etc etc) and try to copy what works well.

A big part of the mess that this country is in is precisely because people are too scared to say these things. If you can't speak about an issue then you can't find a resolution.
