A huge relief. I live in the Borders and people were frantic.

Sturgeon will never escape this appalling attempt at legislation, it has emboldened all the lunatics who think this is a get out of jail free card. I doubt she'll still be SNP leader by the year's end. There will be more stories like this, sadly.

I know you’re not kidding, I’ve seen who you’re talking about before and can even picture the image of the dad and “daughter” together on the main page, it may have been discussed on one of these earlier threads, but I can’t remember the name of the company now
I didn’t know it had been discussed on here before. Really stomach churning stuff. All under the innocent guise of ‘love’. There is nothing loving about telling your CHILD to tuck their penis away. I also think putting pictures of kids in essentially their underwear is so so creepy. Trans or not. Makes you wonder about the world and how much folk have lost their actual minds 😞

On another note, what’s the bet that monster David Carrick will be identifying as Debbie Carrick any day now…

The clash of trans rights with religious rights is yet to be tested.
I’ve just seen a page on Instagram which is a Canadian comedian who is from an Iranian family and one of her skits was about a hairdresser who has a special room for women who wear hijab to have their hair done, no men allowed. (Wasn’t mocking it, was actually doing a little ad for her hairdresser) Is that the sort of place a man will try to get into to feel validated? Especially as in Canada.

Yes, exactly! Many Muslim women do not believe in physical contact with a man other than family/husband or being in certain environments with them, the same is true of some Jewish and Gypsy/Roma/Traveller women, other groups too. We forbid religious and ethnic discrimination so why do the "rights" of men to be in women's spaces take priority over the rights of these women?

It took me far far too long to go to my first smear test, because 1) I am at heart a private person and a bit of a prude when it comes to body stuff. 2) i was scared of the speculum 3) i didn’t want a male doing it

I eventually went, and I was made to feel like a nuisance for being nervous (i was unwittingly clenching, and making the test more difficult), it was difficult for me as a person with what I call lab coat syndrome at the best of times…. If someone rolled my eyes and said there was no female staff to do the test I would have got dressed and gone home without having the test. It’s just too intimate a procedure for me to fathom allowing a man to do (albeit qualified etc). I will happily see my male GP about ear infections, allergies, flu jab etc, but I just can’t when it comes to my bits, you know? I’m fortunate I’ve never been abused, but it’s just innately there, the fear of a strange man (however benevolent they may be), doing such procedures. It’s bad enough when it’s a matronly, impatient female nurse!

For such procedures, women should never be made to feel like a nuisance or ridiculous.

If I needed a life saving procedure or surgery down there then I suppose I would mostly likely have to accept a male surgeon, but imo, if desperate, I would probably get on with it. But for routine, female procedures, tests, etc, I want the choice.

There
Oh god I’ve just stumbled on a page on insta that had really shocked me. On first glance it looks innocent enough. But I read a bit closer and realised it’s a page set up by a ‘trans dad’ basically this dad with a son who is now his daughter. And he’s set up a company making trans and non binary swimwear!! Which on inspection appears to be padded bikini tops and bottoms that hide the penis. There are toddlers and little kids in there. I’m not kidding. This is a legit company and the dad and ‘daughter’ have been on the today show (as obviously they are American). Just…wow. It’s insane. It is so efffed up that little boys who want to wear unicorn swimwear feel they have to tuck their penis away and become girls to do so. I honestly despair for humanity.
There's a British family on SM who's little boy is supposidly trans, the father is a creepy f*uvker, the boys mum brought him one of these swimsuits and was so proud of the fact that her 7yr old little boy could wear a swimsuit with extra padding that hid his bits 😡 sick people who are exploiting their 4 kids 24/7, yet everyone turns a blind eye because they have so many followers. 😡 😡

Yes to alllllll of this. Also, I try to see female professionals wherever possible. My GP, dentist and other health specialists are all female. Even if it means a longer wait list (there are nowhere near enough female urologists!) A lot of this is for my own comfort but ALSO, I think of it as supporting these women who’ve had to work hard to rise up in male-dominated industries! If we support them, others will follow.

So apparently there is a trans character in Hogwarts Legacy and they still complain about it…

I've heard that David Carrick will be going, eventually, to the sex offenders unit in HMP Whitemoor, courtesy of an old friend of mine who is serving a life sentence there (long and complicated story of why we're still friends). Friend says that strange as it may sound, he'll get a lot of respect in there for the seriousness of his offences and a lot of the guys on the unit are looking forward to him arriving and want to make friends with him - so I don't think he'll try and transition, because if you're essentially the king of the unit containing some of the worst offenders in the UK, why would you want to give up that power? And David Carrick is all about power.

I was reading live updates from Carrick‘s trial and I had to stop as they were too upsetting. Those poor women

Just as a matter of interest on the subject of the ' older ' transsexuals. I live in a small and back in the 70s there was a young man who became a woman . I don't know whether he went through the full sex change as it was a very rare thing then and bring in my early 20s the first person I had known . Looking back and based on the current situation of safe places for women I now wonder which toilets ' she ' would have chosen ? I don't remember there being any talk about it but going off today's discussions I'm just curious .

I love this. They literally cannot win. The game developers threw in a trans character to appease the TRAs, and it’s still wrong because of the chosen name, and the voice. I mean, how else were they to signal this was a TW character? If they’d used a woman then no one would have realised it was a trans character 😅

Thanks to whoever it was who mentioned completing an M&S survey. I just had one through and would usually ignore, but I completed it this time. Made sure to say the reason I used click and collect was so that I could try clothes on in the comfort of my home and not mixed sex changing rooms.

It probably won’t make much difference, but at least I’ve made my views heard.

I hope I’m wrong but I find it very hard to believe that wee girl was found “safe and unharmed” as the police said in the home of a 53 year old man. I hope she and her family are being given the support they need.

I just came on to post this....so now God wants to be referred to as "they/them" 🙄
Sam Smith will be overjoyed to be in such exalted company! 🤣🤣🤣

Talking about God and all things religious, Sandi Toksvig has been commenting on the CofE decision to ban same-sex marriages in Christian churches (same as most religions, I guess?)
As a confirmed atheist, I don't really see the problem. Gay people don't have a choice about whether they're gay or not, but they do have a choice as to whether they want to go to church. I do feel sorry for the genuine believers who have been turned away from their places of worship because of their sexual orientation, but let's face it, the vast majority of people, gay or straight, who want a church wedding, never set foot in a church unless they're attending a wedding, funeral or christening. It's a bit hypocritical to whinge about being denied a religious ceremony if you're not a true believer. If the recent church attendance figures are anything to go by, hardly anyone is!

I feel the same way about people who get their kids baptised to get them into school but don’t go to church.

I couldn’t get married in my childhood church because my husband was divorced. He would have had to have applied to get his marriage annulled I think. I decided not to be a victim about it and get married anyway somewhere else.

This might be a totally totally stupid point.....but to be gendered or non gendered, surely God would have to be a man or woman?

I thought that God, if you believe in God, and thinking back to what I learnt as a child, God was/is a higher being, a higher entity. Something that could contain/include the blessed trinity of the father, the son and the holy ghost!

God is above mankind...not part of mankind!!!! And everything within stricture says this! The Church of England currently feel in a mess.... why on earth are they bothering with this kind of stuff?
