Did anyone in Scotland see the party political broadcast tonight from the Scottish Greens? With a trans man/non binary person called Gray. Addressing the nation at peak time. No I will never fucken vote Scottish Greens! Bunch of LOONS.

Talking of loons, I stumbled across a Janey Godley tweet where she’s praising her ‘trans pals’. She thinks gender critical people hate trans people. The poor poor trans ☹ This is a narrative that she’s happy with, cos she can denounce us nasty terfs and she gets to feel all warm and fuzzy and supportive. And more importantly the TRAs are off her back. Last thing she would want is flack from TRAs, she’s already been ‘cancelled’ for old offensive tweets. She can’t understand it’s about women’s rights, not hatred of trans people. I used to be a fan of her comedy and my heart goes out to her with what she’s going through with her cancer but I have no respect for her deluded wee rants against pretty much her target audience. Regular wee Glesga wummin (like me and mum) don’t take any shit and wouldn’t be backwards in coming forwards about women’s rights to safety, privacy and dignity. We are no nonsense and can see right through it. Janey is just trying to protect herself in all this, she doesn’t actually care about trans people at all.
Couldn’t have said this better myself. I no longer read Janey’s tweets or posts on anything she’s on. I scroll past it all. I feel for her health wise and admire her courage throughout. She’s on no one’s side but her own here though and definitely looking out for herself.

Trigger warning - at the start it may seem they are making light of Adam Bryson and what he done but a few mins in shows its clear they are showing the absurd way this was handled.

Konstantin was on BBC newsnight on Thursday which he mentions at the end and he wanted to discuss this topic but the BBC vetoed it as there was no LGBT on the panel.

I wonder what his goal is and who it is he’s trying to attract with his wee fairy lights, animal handbag and mean girls poster? This creep should never be allowed within 100 feet of female only spaces or schools.
Crikey, he's the type you give a wide berth at the bus stop or supermarket 😬 All is not well with him.

Some of us have been aware of differences of opinion between various feminists and feminists groups - some of which have ended up as spats on Twitter. These two articles deal with the underlying issues (read MF first)

Jane Clare Jones has left Twitter but she seemed to be the ringleader of the hate mob, along with Jeni Harvey (and others) who love to pile in and haughtily denounce anyone whose ever stood within a 50m radius of KJK. I’m so sick of it but they keep bringing it back up.

Before all this I bought JCJ’s TERF Wars book because I wanted to support her work, but I feel like a mug, mainly because the writing is impenetrable wank.

Yep it was the brave and stunning Rachel McKinnon that peaked me. The trans issue wasn’t really on my radar but my interest in cycling meant he caught my interest, I think on MN thread in 2018.

10 years ago I actually interviewed for a job at British Cycling relating to a project on Women’s participation in cycling and had to do a presentation on barriers for women and ways to increase participation. All the research I did back then, the trans issue never came up. The irony now is BC have made decisions that have probably done far more harm to women’s cycling in the past ten years than there were to begin with.
And there's nothing wrong with trying a new angle with something to make improvements BUT when it's obvious from the start it would be a worse outcome but it goes ahead, bulldozing through decades of old rules and legitimate opposing opinions..... NO.

To answer your first question, you would still say "they are", not "they is".

While I think the they/them pronouns thing is silly, there are cases where it's acceptable to use they/them in a singular fashion in English.

For example, I often have a managers' meeting at work where I give feedback on what team members have told me, but I want to keep each person anonymous. So I might say: "One of my team members said they felt team morale was low". I deliberately don't give the gender of the team member to ensure it's harder to work out who I'm talking about.

I suppose I could say "One of my team members said he or she felt team morale was low", but to be honest it sounds more awkward, probably because it draws attention to the fact I'm trying to anonymise the feedback. In that context, "they" is more commonly used and sounds more natural.

To answer your second question, you don't really use "it" or "its" for a person in English because it comes across as rude, due to the dehumanising nature of the word. People who choose to use "it" or "its" in that way almost always mean it as an insult -- e.g. "tell it I'm not speaking to it!".

Here endeth the grammar lesson. 😂
Merci! ☺

'They/them' are 3rd person pronouns, that is how you refer to a person that is not being directly addressed ie they're not there.
So if you think about it, all this pronouns shite is about image control to others, not just how that person is referred to.
Yeah, we use they/she/he when the person is not here so why do they care so much about it?!

I’ve been telling my husband about India Willoughby and how vile he is and I think he thinks surely this person isn’t real…I’ll switch this on tonight for him to see the cretin with his own eyes. I’m sure he will show himself up for the massive delusional misogynist that he is (India, not my husband 😂).
Hopefully his appearance on QT will be as successful as Nick Griffin’s.
He’s not just a cretin, he’s a racist cretin. ( “India”, not your husband).

I think they must be very small studies and not at all correct.

15 year old boys can beat professional female athletes in races. Men are just built completely differently.

If they were comparing trans athletes with professional athletes of their biological sex then yes they won't have an advantage, because they are normally mediocre men who only stand a chance against women.
Your last paragraph is sorta what I was thinking the case must be. I have done a lot of unfollowing this week as anyone who shares these studies do not seem to want to look at them in depth and anyone who asks questions just have their heads bitten off.

Funnily enough I'm also finding it hard to find the link to the study they speak about and I do generally like to read these things and make my own mind up but as of now I have no idea of sample size, conditions etc.

Has anyone ran into men with my misogynistic or sexist views who say that they have done a lot of research and read a lot of studies and all support their point of view as part of their argument? It feels like an argument based on “this person won’t disagree with me because I’m so educated” which is awfully tiring to deal with and I’m wondering whether I’m just very unlucky with the guys I meet or whether this is a tactic that’s being fed down from some online culture

Possibly an unpopular opinion but the sexualisation of almost every aspect of our culture, including that disgusting Sam Smith video (how can anyone say objections to that are puritanical??) and songs like WAP, have opened the floodgates. It’s a huge part of the reason perverts feel emboldened to indulge their proclivities out in the open. The situation in which we find ourselves as a society didn’t happen in a vacuum.
And you get people going ‘it’s empowering!’ ‘They are just feeling themselves!’

Why do so many of these Nuevo women grow facial hair. Surely if you believe you are a woman inside you would be an obsessive shaver. Nothing is less feminine than a goatee beard surely?

And to return briefly to the debate about the increase or otherwise of pornography in society. This is grim reading.

Hopefully.
I attempted to watch Celebrity Big Brother the year he happened to be on it. Had to give up.

If I heard one more time 'I am a REAL woman' from him, I would probably have smashed my tv. 😡
He should have been removed from the show for flat out bullying. He's a vile piece of shit

Very good video, worth the watch

Womb transplants, in the very few cases where they’ve been successful, are meant to be temporary and after one or two pregnancies they have to be removed again to avoid the recipient having to take anti-rejection drugs for any longer than is strictly necessary.
The idea that they’ll ever be some kind of Frankensteinian vanity item that can be just shoved into some blokes body on a whim is absolutely ludicrous and biologically impossible. Although I dare say that won’t stop some unscrupulous plastic surgery butchers having a go at it in some country where medical ethics don’t exist.
If you ever pop over to the Jessica Alves thread, I’ve no doubt he’d have an unscrupulous enough surgeon going by the state of his face and body. His nose already looks as thought it’s going to fall off at any given moment
