“These are not women’s clothes, these are my clothes.” I thought that was such a brave stance in tackling and dismantling gender stereotypes. I was the biggest Eddie fan for years.
And then all this tit, plus turning up on Question Time in a stupid pink beret and badly applied garish lipstick, making ‘incisive’ comments on Brexit such as ‘So we all just need to love each other, yeah?’

A genuine question here that I hope people won't mind giving their views on, but I was interested if anyone here thinks Kellie Jay Keen isn't the best person to have fronting those sorts of events. To me, a relative newcomer to it all, she comes across as harsh, divisive and smug. In short, I think she'd turn more people who are questioning this kind of thing away.I see the usual backlash has started around Kellie Jay Keen having another successful and well-attended event. Usual accusations of being right wing, racist etc. I don’t know who to believe any more
You’ve just reminded me that I need to listen to Helen Lewis’ series on wokeness being a new religion. It’s on BBC Sounds, for anyone else who might be interested. It came out about a month ago but I forgot about it!
There are so many, better representatives. In fact, pretty much any GC woman who puts her neck on the line - Julie Bindel, JK Rowling, Helen Joyce, Kathleen Stock, etc. I could go on and on. They come across far calmer and - to be frank - seem more intelligent and hence put their point of view forward much better.

A former friend of mine is the type who collects identities and is now trans and actually used to be in a cult. There’s definitely a sense of needing something to latch on to.

It takes a certain type of person to have the cojones to actually do what Kellie has been doing. Also at Brighton she was much more like the MC, allowing loads of other women their moment to talk.
I don’t agree with everything KJK says but she’s absolutely fearless and is totally the right person for the job. Many other prominent GC women have livelihoods that would eventually be negatively impacted by the backlash and also they do have those other jobs to be doing. Strident and outspoken women are always unpopular, but we haven’t got anywhere by being popular or speaking nicely, have we?
And this happened recently.
Is there a wrong type of feminist (or GC woman)? Are some more worthy than others? Helen Joyce has supported KJK and the event in Brighton. Really, we should be looking at what unites us, rather than what separates us - and some people need the wake-up call that is KJK.
Sorry I didn't mean she was the "wrong type". I just found the women I listed (and others) won me over much more than KJK, so I just wondered if I was alone.

I am torn. KJK does what she does very well. But like all things, more suited to some than others. I am definitely of the 'will not use pronouns' side, although I used to. But as I am fond of saying, it starts with pronouns and ends with a woman being grape in a hospital bed and being further traumatised by the hospital refusing to admit there was a male bodied person on the ward. For a bleeping year! So no pronouns for me now. I am livid about the ruination of young lesbians and girls on the spectrum. The more I type the more KJK I sound
. I just want us all to get along to be honest. We are all fighting for the same things and against the same things. But I am a feminist, always have been, always will be. I will always ally myself with other feminists and fight for women's rights. I am just an old hippy really who is furious about what is happening in the name of gender. Which feminists have always fought against.

I’ve always found her blunt and unapologetic talk quite refreshing tbh. One person’s harsh/smug/divisive will be mere plain speaking to others.
I think someone like KJK is more equipped to peak the general public than a great deal of academic feminists tbh.

An ex-friend of mine who came out as trans grew up in an abusive JW household. It did seem like they were a little lost in the real world and just wanted to feel part of something.
*Ex-friend because when I suggested they might want to get a few therapy sessions before spending their life savings (£20k or so) on facial feminisation surgery, I got swiftly defriended. Didn’t even advise against it. I just said that with their traumatic background, it would be good to talk things though first.
Most men hate women who are as ballsy and as unafraid as KJK, it’s plain and simple misogyny. She’s not ‘nice’ and men (and some women) don’t like that. It’s not behaving the way women are socialised to behave so it’s jarring for some people. Sorry Ensay I’m not accusing you of misogyny I’m just thinking this could be the way some people react to her. I love that she’s so unshakeable and fearless. I wish I was more like her.
The facial feminisation surgery….even that is pure sexist. I know plenty of women with a ‘strong jaw’, what, are they not feminine enough now? Why is the gold standard of being a woman a dainty wee face?
Oh it's OK, I didn't take it that way and I can see where you're coming from. I like hearing people's opinions regardless of which side of the fence they land.

Question, I don’t have experience with breastfeeding since I’m barely 20 yet (and never had a bf) but I got a older sister who had a baby and was recommended to avoid caffeine and alcoholic beverages when breastfeeding.
So a breastfeeding woman can’t consume certain drinks but a male who is injecting himself with artificial female hormones is just fine with feeding a infant??? Help me understand? Breastmilk has antibodies that help strengthen the babies immune system, can a male provide that??? Has there been any studies?? Does no one care about children anymore?????
