What stood out to me is the lack of historical understanding Laurie Penny has of the Feminist movement. No awareness (or perhaps Penny is just dismissive?) of the women who fought and thought and campaigned before us.

What stood out to me is the lack of historical understanding Laurie Penny has of the Feminist movement. No awareness (or perhaps Penny is just dismissive?) of the women who fought and thought and campaigned before us.

Anyway, it’s those women who I celebrated on IWD.

Thkse second wave feminists are treated like dinosaurs and called bigoted for saying biological sex is real. Never mind that every single right we have now was fought for and won by them.

I'm disappointed but not surprised by how sexualised they've gone for their marketing. It just feels really objectified to me.

Her Strike crime investigation novels are also fantastic, imo.

One thing that struck me about the Strike novels is just how much feminism is crammed in there. I could have sat there with a highlighter finding all the arguments about VAWG and porn we all get into on Twitter etc

I meant to post this a while ago, but I forgot. There's only one school in London which has been awarded Stonewall Gold and the 'what is gender?' bit of their LGBT+ newsletter is just a bleeping bunch of lies and word salad and it made me very cross. I can't screenshot all of it because it's massive and it goes on and on but this bit is particularly terrible...

Maybe they are just kids. Maybe not conforming to gender stereotypes doesn't mean anything except you don't conform to gender stereotypes and people shouldn't bleeping generalise. Make it about gender when you could be making it about how can we help kids not go down the paths laid out for them by the patriarchy/capitalism. duck THIS tit.

I think JM and Laurie Penny are basically the same person. Middle class upbringing but wants to be seen as the radical leader of the revolution. Can't decide whether they are give no ducks, hard as nails and bad a or are delicate, sensitive creatures.

All these TRA types think they're amazingly progressive and radical but the majority of them are massively privileged e.g. middle class white women from private schools, or just white men full stop. There are sooo many of these types on Twitter at the moment telling Rowling to 'stop talking' etc because she's a billionaire - yeah she is NOW, but she's come from an actual disadvantaged background. I would rather hear from her any day over these mats who don't recognise their own privilege.

Never kind that JKR has suffered more hardship than the majority of them. People who have genuinely struggled don't have time for narcissistic navel gazing nonsense. The likes of Laurie Penny are far more privileged that JKR so have to declare themselves non-binary to invent a marginalised persona to add weight to their nonsense arguments.

I can’t bring myself to listen to Maya Forstater being interviewed on woman’s hour. I normally like Emma Barnett but the comments on Twitter about the way she spoke to Maya are terrible. I thought Emma was no nonsense and more on the GC side (esp after her interview with Nancy Kelley, head of Stonewall). But I sounds like she’s been told to be aggressive and rude. Disappointed in her. Apparently Maya held her own though.

I just noticed that it doesn't actually mention race, but like you my mind had just automatically assumed it did because it nearly always does. After all there are few groups more disgusting than white cishets!
