Has anyone else been keeping up with that Saccone Joly saga? It just gets worse and worse. 😭
I'm glued to it. I feel so sorry for Eduardo.

It never fails to astonish me how quickly this ideology has taken hold. So many people pandering, calling Eduardo "she" and speaking blithely about hormones and surgery in his future. Do they realise what they're endorsing? It's truly terrifying.

I saw some of your posts and really appreciated them. I don't know why anyone is using "she" when a) there is almost no reason to suspect Eduardo is genuinely trans and b) even if he is, it's not like he's ever going to see an obscure thread about him on a gossip site! It feels suspiciously like virtue signaling tbh.

Anyway, yes, horrified for the poor child and his siblings. That "saying goodbye" video made me want to crawl out of my skin.

what is this about?

Ok, just need to point out something I’ve just seen and it’s made me raging.

Adverts are on. The new Always advert comes on, featuring young girls talking aboutperiod shaming. The ad says ‘61% of YOUNG PEOPLE experience period shame’. YOUNG PEOPLE. Not girls. No. YOUNG PEOPLE.

Next advert on directly after it for Gillette men’s razors. Slogan? The best a MAN can get.

Tell me AGAIN that women are not being erased. It’s so insidious, but won’t be too long before it’ll be illegal to say women and girls 😣
But when you think about it, there are probably far more women who use Gillette razors, than there are men who use Always products. 🙄

At least there is some peaking happening in that thread. Though sadly most people seem to have no clue how all the external societal protections have been undone when it comes to these matters. So many think the gender therapists or school will save him which sadly isn't going to be the case.

(Poem by a transwoman, being circulated on Twitter)

We don't hate you or any other trans person
We don't want to touch you
We don't want to "dissect" or physically harm you
We are not trying to kill you or erase you from existence
If you have "been through hell" and "experienced horrors", you need psychological help not transition. And it still doesn't entitle you to be in women's spaces with women
We're not saying your body is "wrong" or weird. Just please keep it out of our spaces

what is this about?
If you search for "Saccone Joly" the threads will come up. It's the latest two where everything is unfolding. Basically, an influencer couple past their sell-by date are now exploiting their 7yo "transgender daughter" for clicks and cash. The dad seems to be the main driver (this, after his own "I'm non-binary" announcement) and the whole thing is cringe beyond cringe and literally quite upsetting.

I'm glad to have seen at least a few Americans put paid to that notion. I almost laughed out loud this morning when I saw a tweet calling JKR a murderer because her tweets are somehow killing trans kids in the US?? It was a reply to her IWD post?? From personal experience, it's incredibly difficult to find a therapist who takes a logical and dispassionate approach to this whole thing. I had a mercifully brief reason to look for one and I'm here to tell you, GAC is the go-to, not an exploration of the possible underlying issues or any sort of therapy that focuses on learning how to be with and in your body as it is.

I’m on the saccone joly thread, even though I haven’t watched them for years. So many innocent people in there insisting that there would need to be therapy and school involvement as well as doctors before a transgender diagnosis is reached. Poor naive fools

Was it yourself that lives in the US and was thinking about starting a family? Hope you don’t mind me asking, I just remember some posts from last year. I could have you mixed up with someone else though, if so, sorry.

I don’t follow this family and knew nothing until it was mentioned here. Had a look on their pages and oh wow. That poor boy. Would probably grow up to be a gay man, like so many little boys before him who is drawn to ‘feminine’ things. It is literally easier for idiot parents to accept their boy is a girl, than to just accept him as he is, an effeminate boy. I find it pretty sad and kind of scary the way homosexuality is being slowly erased.

Not that I’m saying sexuality should have anything to do with this kid, but a lot of kids you can tell what they’ll be when they are older. Adults can probably spot it before the kids know themselves. I know a young kid (boy) it’s quite obvious and I think his parents can see it too but like to push the ‘little ladies man’ angle, I think they don’t want it to be true.

JK Rowling has been absolutely on fire the past couple of days, but this has made me hoot.

JKR doesn’t tweet that often so must have to bite her tongue SO much. The past few days have been a torrent of pent up indignance. Queen.

No, but I do live in the US and I've posted before about how I ended up here! Oldest had a very brief foray into thinking they were trans. (Only using "they" to remain as anonymous as possible!) Our immediate reaction was to find out why, explore possible reasons for why they felt out of sorts with their body, talk to their current therapist about it, etc. We offered small things that could be done in the privacy of our home if they wished to explore different parts of being the other gender. I'd always been woker than woke about trans rights before this, but once I heard my child parroting other people's words to try and describe their own feelings, I started looking into this whole world more closely. I was horrified by what I found.

As to the therapy thing I mentioned, we looked into equine therapy as a way to help our child learn to be in their body and appreciate it for what it is (a healthy body to carry them around!) The therapist IMMEDIATELY, having NEVER met me or my child, got on my case about even QUESTIONING their feelings. Basically laid the whole suicidal trans kid thing on me. I was appalled. Thankfully, we share a regular therapist and she 100% agreed with me that there was more going on.

This was over a year ago and they haven't ever mentioned it again. They got into theater and found something to interest them once our Covid restrictions were lifted and they weren't stuck in the house/online so much. I think that helped more than anything! Now, they could come back to me at some point and start back up with this. But my husband and I made it clear there would be no puberty blockers (useless anyway as they were already well into puberty at that point), hormones, or (god forbid) surgery until after they turned 18. Time will tell, but I hope and pray every day that the way we handled it and our therapist backing us helped them see it was just normal teen anxiety and feeling uncomfortable in a changing body, plus not feeling like they were into the things their gender traditionally likes. We just reassured them anybody can like anything, dress how they want, etc and there's no need to say you're the opposite sex to do those things!

I agree. We've often thought our oldest may be gay, and that would help explain why they thought being trans would explain/fix all their problems. They told their therapist they were aromantic/asexual after the whole trans thing. I honestly think kids these days are just DESPERATE to put labels on themselves. My husband didn't date until he was in his late teens/early twenties! Anyway, Eduardo also strikes me as very "camp" and I hope that's not offensive. I know plenty of young boys who were like that and grew up well-adjusted and gay.

They are absolutely obsessed with reducing things down to a physical form, aren't they. After all, AGP males love bringing their genitals into the discussion.

Their AGP itch is scratched, their worship is cranked up by the hand maidens, served up with a side dish of affirmation that they are still superior to women because they have a rooster and big strong muscles. They are both an uber stunning and brave female and an alpha male. They've never had such validation. Why didn't they do this sooner!

I've been re-reading the Harry Potter series since Christmas, and it's been such a joy to rediscover how sharp-witted and funny they are. JKR is an absolute treasure.
She's really clever with her details and description.

Her Strike crime investigation novels are also fantastic, imo.
