I just automatically read it as “white cis-het”
It's really disappointing. She's trying to catch her out and missing the point completely.
Just a way of causing division where there is none so then it gives the “activists” more ammunition to claim they’re hard done to 24/7.
My husband read this headline to me five minutes ago and I said I BET they're all middle class they/thems.

I am straight and middle class but you would never catch me in the great outdoors!!
Simple fact is everyone there is privileged compared people from deprived areas as they have disposable income to afford the gear to do this type of activity.
Someone I'm working with at the moment recently 'came out' as non binary. He is a white male, has a male name, wears male clothes, has normal male hair and a beard. The only thing different since he's become 'non binary' is to constantly witter on about using they/them pronouns and to put them in his display name on vidoeconferencing platforms. On "queer hiking" - my white, cishet, middle-aged mother got into hiking about ten years ago and it gave her so much confidence. She met a group of like-minded women that she never had throughout her adult life and finally found a hobby she truly enjoyed. duck off with this crap about it not being ~welcoming~ and how macho it is, because it isn't. It's what you make of it.
