A women's FB group that I'm in has a man dressed as a woman as a very prominent member. He is always praised by the handmaidens for looking stunning and way better than they ever could even though he looks like he's just finished a shift at the docks and put on a dress and a wig.

Anyway, my point is, he's just posted about how 'one word' always triggers him which is then linked to a long blog post. The word is 'human'. Some women have commented on his post that he's a 'brave human' and he takes major offence at not being called a woman. THAT IS BECAUSE YOU ARE A BLOKE IN A DRESS.

Good Christ. Fancy being triggered by the word human?! Wasn't sure the right reaction on your post which was a mixture of WOW and LAUGH and shaking my head.

My work is going to be posting on their internal pages for IWD. So far there is one post, and it's an actual woman. I don't think there will be any trans women but I'll wait and see... so far so good.

"Today we're sharing profiles of inspiring women working on [REGION REMOVED] as a way of celebrating their achievements and to help raise awareness against bias. #BreaktheBias "

The women profiled are asked what their job involves, what inspired them to pursue a career in this industry, what do they love about their career, and what is it like being a woman in this industry. I'm impressed.

We’ve already had Marsha P Johnson celebrated for IWD at my workplace -which several people have also referred to as ‘women/womxn day’. I might have to skip out on any of the other talks going on, I don’t have much of a poker face.

International women’s day and ‘trans women are women’ is trending on Twitter. Stop the world, I want to get off.

Ahh International Women's Day. What fuckery will today bring?!

I work in a traditionally male-dominated industry but there are a lot more women in the industry now as opposed to 10 years ago. Good progress! One moderately well-known workplace posted a video for IWD, offering free coaching and advice sessions for any woman, provided by the women who work there - and that also includes trans women and "anyone who identifies as a woman" 🙃🙃

I could scream. This isn't about trans women or anyone who "identifies" as a woman. I've been very fortunate to have worked with some amazing women who have worked their arses off, dealing with the day-to-day tit that we all know so well and just got stuff done. How many trans women have supported and helped me during my career? Zero. And I don't expect them to.

And of course, WOMEN are yet again being expected to pick up the slack. It's not enough to give up our time to provide free advice and mentoring, it's also on us to make sure trans women are involved because god forbid they should be expected to figure things out by themselves, as we have all done for years. When are trans women going to support women when it comes to progressing with their careers?

Won't someone think of the AGP TIMs on International Women's Day, please. A lifetime of privilege, transitioning at age 45 with thinning hair and a massive forehead to boot. Please, everyone #BeKind. They've had such a hard time of it. So stunning and brave to put on a dress and call themselves Susan!

does anyone remember the document (perhaps dentons or a stonewall thing?) and it said events regarding women but especially on International Womens Day, trans women should be promoted?

Update - coincidentally had talk with line a manger straight after - I was so angry had been angry crying and she asked if I was ok so has a big rant about it and she thankfully understood. My comments will go to HR anonymously.

Already seen far too many IWD posts with comments from women about how we must include TW 🙄

My work is hosting a womens networking event today but I’m working from home. Nothing on the intranet about IWD 🙄

I'm working on a project with an NHS Trust at the moment, they've had stuff up about international trans visibility day at the end of March for weeks, but nothing on IWD.

Laurie is a classic example of a privileged (privately educated, went to Oxford) white "cis" woman, and in today's bastardisation of intersectional feminism, that puts her at the top of the hierarchy of oppressors (below men of her social class of course, but still a peddler of the much-maligned white feminism).

In a culture where the perceived most "oppressed" people are given the most legitimacy (irrespective of their actual experience), how can she escape accusations of "talking over more marginalised voices"? Declare herself "non-binary" of course! It's so bleeping blatant it's embarassing.

She's now saying that poor reviews of her latest book are some sort of co-ordinated attack on her. I've read a few reviews, all by women, mostly by feminists, who simply point out that her book isn't very well researched and lacks logical consistency. But of course because she's "non-binary" she's somehow being victimised. Or Laurie, maybe your book is just tit?
Just clicked - she wrote the book on feminism that the Guardian of all places eviscerated. It was brutal and glorious.

Not the tina musuem being anti women again?! Stupid museum, didn't they do this last year too.
I generally try and ignore them, but yes, the tina museum, talking about men (who don’t have vaginas, even the ones who have surgery) and ignoring women who have actual vaginas on International WOMEN’S Day, because *some* people want trans womens stories to be ‘erased’ (apparently). The bleeping irony 🙄 There are 364 other days to talk about trans women and yet still…here we are.

I just looked at their website and their Comms Manager is apparently an ardent feminist. Perhaps she needs to revisit that.

The absolute state of this

It's the timing for me. You have 364 other days in the year to talk about trans women. But to do it on International Women's Day is yet another reminder of how much TIMs have taken over the narrative. It has been done deliberately.

I don't want their stories to be erased or silenced as such but duck me. There's a time and a place for it and it isn't today.

Why are organisations so scared to talk about women? Why do they keep pandering to TIMs?

It's actually laughable to me at this point that trans people think they're 'silenced' or 'erased'. It seems to be all we ever hear about or see on social media timelines.

Absolutely beaten over the head with it when it was LGBT History month in Feb. And let’s face it every other day of the year. GIVE US A DAY FFS
