I highly recommend Julie Bindel's new book, Feminism for Women.

It's amazing how many times she's been deplatformed and absolute rubbish said about her when she's done more for women and feminism and women than any of these screeching social media ghouls.

I remember a nice moment on twitter when Ash Sarkar asked what Julie Bindel had ever done for women. Many comments ensued detailing Julie’s decades of work with incarcerated women, victims of male violence, etc etc

"It's aggressive misogyny. You can feel the rage and hostility towards women screaming from this person's statements and they are being promoted and supported literally 'as a woman'. So we will keep saying NO." - Rosie Duffield

Imagine saying that about someone who has been actively (and publicly) working for women's rights since the 1970s. bleeping hell. The arrogance of it all, honestly.

A bunch of students have deplatformed Julie Bindel yet again. What are they so scared of? Why are they afraid of someone with a different opinion to theirs?

We know that she doesn't take any tit and will fight back - she's been accused of "supporting the mass homicide of sex workers" which is categorically untrue. bleeping idiots.

Transmisogyny is not a thing.

Cis is not a thing.

Transwomen are men. Transmen are women.

Paris Lees, Munroe Bergdorf, Blaire White, Lily Madigan, India Willoughby, Shon Fae. All blokes.

I’m sure these statements make me a massive bigoted TERFy transphobe in this brave new world, but at this stage I couldn’t give a flying feck.

Proof they've never read a single bleeping word of her work. These older feminists being cancelled and deplatformed have done immeasurably more got actual women than any of these bits who feel "unsafe" because a woman might think women are female and sex work is exploitative in a patriarchy.

I recently saw a video of Shon Faye after only seeing Instagram and photoshoot photos. Let's just say those filters and flattering angles are working bleeping overtime.

Where did this photo and quote come from? Is it real? Did he really say he will break your face? I’m struggling here.

Sorry @smellyfootballboots I’m not doubting you, I’m just in shock that this could be real.

My daughter now has 2 friends that I'm told have 'they' pronouns. The first has an androgynous look but is female and attracted to men, the second is a female who has up to now identified as gay.
I'm totally puzzled why either of these young women no longer wish to use female pronouns. What advantage is there in declaring you are 'they'?

The younger brother of one of her friends (who is high functioning autistic) and in his late teens told his parents he was gay last year. I know his parents would be totally accepting of that so it wouldn't be difficult for him and they probably guessed anyway. Now my daughter has told me that this boy is secretly trans! 😳 and I mustn't say anything to his parents.

I seriously doubt that this young man has had much time to really explore life as a gay man. Again am very puzzled that he is now apparently a she.🤯

[/QUOTE]

Had to look the first thing up and it was coined by "someone assigned male" at birth and yes its just a made up thing

Cis is used simply to try and nullify arguments rather than counter them with facts

Yip

Biological sex is real and gender critical beliefs are perfectly valid........just let the hysterical purple haired loonballs scream and shout terf they will eventually get a sore throat

Just had a really weird experience on an app called Olio where you can share things/give things away to people nearby. I've put up some interview clothes for people to borrow as I thought it'd be good for the environment and to help out people who don't have the money to buy interview clothes etc. Had a man (obviously masculine with a male name) whose profile picture was him in a skimpy bra ask to borrow a skirt to wear to an interview. Yeahhhh... I'm not participating in your female fetishism mate. The more I think about it the more I worry what he would've done with my skirt

I go to UoY and had heard about this event and the society who organised it. I was entirely expecting it to be cancelled. Just checked in the student media and I also vaguely know the 'bluefringe' 🤣 who wrote the letter to the Students' Union asking for Bindel to be deplatformed.

That's so gross and I'm sorry that happened. They really can't help themselves. I used to play a lot of online hames during my student days and a TiM was involved in the wider group. He would ask all sorts of questions about doing hair and makeup - some of was normal enough, like "is this a good mascara". I didn't think anything of it and thought he just needed a bit of help. It turned into him questioning me on the underwear he should wear, should he buy a thong/was that what women wore, and so on... it is such a violation that these nasty creeps involve us in their fantasies and clearly get off on it

I must admit I've tried (and failed) to understand the they/them thing.

I'm a gay man and liked playing netball when I was younger - which was deemed 'girly', even though it's not a million miles away from basketball, which I'd have played if I'd been offered it. But I never saw myself as a female in any way or as non-binary.

Born a bloke, fancy blokes, happy to stay as a bloke and a he/him thanks.

My views have changed over recent months. I used to think "be kind" but it does have an impact on us all. Someone asked me quite recently if I'd want to date a trans man and the honest answer is no.

My workplace hasn't yet asked us to add our pronouns in email signatures, but I suspect it's on the way. I was speaking to a friend about it (who works at a different place) and we both said we wouldn't bother adding it because we've both got obviously male names, plus we look and sound male, so it seems pointless?

Ugh, it always starts innocuous to build trust and quickly descends into tank fantasies… just like Mumsnet 🤢

Yes I agree. What's the point of the pronouns unless you have an ambiguous name?

I guess my daughters friends will probably grow out of the 'they' thing at some point in the future.

Surely a gay man has more chance of dating/being in a relationship than if they are trans. Gay women want to be with women and gay men want to be with men Despite everyone these days claiming acceptance, the dating pool has got to be smaller for trans people.

I've been reading an absolutely massive thread about Danny and Grace Lavery elsewhere....holy tit has it opened my eyes to so much. But I thought this quote summed up so much of *waves hand around* so well.

"Mallory stopped being a young woman and didn't know what to do with herself. Well, her answer was "become a young man". But that's part of why so many young women are becoming she/theys, they/theys, or trans men. It does feel like there's less room in the world to be a woman if you aren't blindingly beautiful and nobody cares whether you're smart. I get why radfems are so obsessed with unblinking societal acceptance of trans women even outside the sex pest stuff, because is really is the ultimate proof that society thinks women are makeup, sex objects, and stupid."

It is pointless. My work asked us but no one in my department has done it because having spoken to quite a few, they think it’s ridiculous and pointless. So it’s just the head of department that has, she is out there on her own, a married woman with kids and a female name, letting everyone know she goes by she/her. Idiotic. I’m embarrassed for her. She will go along with anything, no questions asked. Imagine we were asked to put our religion or political affiliation on our signatures? That’s what I equate it to. Why does my workplace assume I believe in gender identity?

Would you actually care even if you did get misgendered? I wouldn’t. I once had a takeaway delivered and had short hair at the time and didn’t bother putting the hall light on to answer the door. The guy handed it over and said ‘there you go, mate’ and I laughed, at which point he realised I wasn’t a man and went ‘oh er, sorry love’. I shut the door and went about my evening, rather than having an existentialist crisis about what gender norms I was presenting to the physical world 😑 Of course, I now realise I should have called the takeaway and asked them to educate their staff to do better and reported them all to Stonewall.
