Is Canada ok? Inviting a man to speak at a memorial about women being massacred because they were women?

I wanted to post about this earlier but we were invaded by the trans inclusive lesbian.

What a fucking insult to these women. This is what happened:

On 6 December 1989, a man entered a mechanical engineering classroom at Montreal’s École Polytechnique armed with a semi-automatic weapon. After separating the women from the men, he opened fire on the women while screaming, “You are all feminists.” Fourteen young women were murdered, and 13 other people were wounded. The shooter then turned the gun on himself. In his suicide note, he blamed feminists for ruining his life.

14 women gunned down by a man who despised women, and to commemorate that we have a trans woman discussing violence against trans women, one example being groped in a bar? By all means have that discussion… elsewhere. Hold your own event and don’t piggyback onto this one. Shame on the people who’ve allowed this.

It seems the rape victim from the Daily Mail article contacted a local women's group asking if they knew anywhere local she could seek help. Transwomen in the group complained about her and she was sent this by the admin.

There's evidence now that removing a child from it's birth mother is traumatic.

I'm adopted. I was loved and brought up in a secure home and never felt unwanted, but it has definitely fucked me up. The fact that anyone would engineer that situation deliberately really upsets me. The baby never seems to be considered in debates about surrogacy either.

Got an email from my child's secondary school, saying they provide free period products for anyone who needs them. The email explained they've been given money to fund this and that students who need anything can pick them up at X location and any parent can also email if they need some for home and the child will be given a supply to take home.

Great initiative, glad it exists.

The email was addressed to me (the parent) and throughout referred to 'your child' and 'students'. Great, makes sense.

At the end, and added line saying 'girls, non-binary people and trans people may need access to period products'. Ok, what? It's so irrelevant. You've just sent me an email saying that if my child needs tampons or pads they can get them for free through the school. I'm the mum. I know whether my child needs this or not. Why do I need to be lectured about who may or may not need period products? Are you also going to tell me that people who are tall may need access to period products? Or people who wear glasses?

I've read this too. I'm also adopted.

Since having my daughter, I've come to understand that it absolutely IS traumatic for a baby to be removed from its birth mother. Their home for nine months, the beat of the mother's heart, the sound of her voice. My baby knew me immediately - turned her head to my voice as the midwives were washing her.

I absolutely hate that trans is lumped in with LGB. There's a prominent Irish TiM who was all over Irish news for 'coming out' at work. He said that he had discussed it with HR and they decided they needn't tell anyone he was now trans as "If I came out as gay an announcement wouldn't be made". That's totally different. If you come out as gay it's no ones business but if you were one day a man and the next wanted to use the womens toilets and be called by a different name surely people should know?

That last paragraph is just lovely. I don't want kids but goddamnit I'm absolutely sick of society trying to undermine the role of motherhood both physically and mentally. They want to make out that women are just incubators. I'm so tired of it all

She's posting on one of the Mumsnet threads about the case, she's said she's going to try and take legal action to force rape counselling services to provide single sex services - I shall be cheering her on every step of the way.

Good on her! Nothing about rape counselling ever needs to be inclusive. It needs to be all about the needs of the victim. This should just be obvious. If some bloke in a dress has been upset then too fucking bad.

Sounds about right for Freddy. It's nothing to do with the child, it's about him and what makes him feel validated.

The thing is, it's the child's birth certificate. Not Freddy's. He might not like the fact that he's considered the mother, but erm, he also chose to get pregnant and give birth. Women give birth. So I don't know what he expected.

Exactly. She’s so triggered by being referred to using correct pronouns and can’t possibly cope with being called a mother… yet getting pregnant and carrying a baby - THE most female thing you can do - was ok. She coped with that
