What I think is quite sad is surely the essence of ‘non binary’ is what feminists want in general? Freedom from gender norms and stereotypes. But for everyone, not just people who ‘identify’ as it. I dunno, I feel like sometimes with this we’re not as apart as we think. Obviously I’m very against anyone pretending sex doesn’t exist and men accessing women’s spaces etc etc but non binary I find weird and sad because it’s like we’re arguing for the same thing in different packaging
100% this! this is what I thought we all wanted, gender neutral clothing, toys for children, not viewing certain jobs as "male" or "female"... we were on the way to this and it has now ended because non binary actually seems to be focussing more on men and women being different imo. Side note, all of the non binary people I have met have always basically been women dressed in a stereotypical "male" style, when I was younger that was basically just how a lot of les or "tomboy" women dressed , I really don;t see the need for another defintion to create more barriers. We are just going back to really stark gender divisions it seems

I’m sure he’ll be receiving his diversity award any day now for being non-binary in a male dominated profession. Such a martyr!
I don't doubt it. There was a big hullabaloo not long ago about the first transgender judge (transwoman of course) as if the majority of them aren't male anyway. Nauseating tbh.

Surely we need to be asking why trans people have such a low life expectancy. Now I'm pretty sure it's not because TERFs are murdering them and as they are biologically the same as cis (🤢) people it isn't that they were born with a lower life expectancy. So this would surely point towards suicide and mental health issues or complications of decades fake hormones??

Which then begs the question of is gender dysphoria a mental health problem?

I bet its something to do with depth perception of their eyes? I imagine stripes like that cause confusion for them. Looks funny though! 😂

I read somewhere (but can't find it now) that suicide after reassignment surgery is common, so that could explain the lower age expectancy. I assume when reality hits that the surgery doesn't make them the opposite sex it can cause distress. I also assume complications of surgery could also cause distress. It's certainly not the result of women speaking up though, though they try to blame us.

I’m sure I read somewhere that trans life expectancy was skewed by cases from South America. Basically, John/Joanna from Leicester is nowhere near as much at risk as their SA comparable, but they like to say they are for the drama.

I would imagine that a lot of it is that people transition imaginging they will somehow feel better, in the way that people who are depressed, myself included, imagine that losing weight/moving countries etc will make them happier, rather than having therapy abd dealing with issues lead them to suicide

I have no words for how dumb this is

It's disgusting that Laurie Penny is saying women should find out if trans people are going to be allowed into the changing rooms and then 'make a decision' based on that info. How can she not see that this is literally hounding women out of public life? If you can't go somewhere without being forced to see a pen then women will just stop going there...how is this a good thing? I'm so sick of watching women kow tow to men, what is going to have to happen before it stops?

I assume/hope that this just means these businesses will just destory their revenue. Imagine a spa that advertisese "female only spaces" that allows people with penises? who would really go there? basically no women I would think

I suppose it depends - there are clearly lots of women who either don't mind being naked around transwomen, or at least think they don't mind it yet who will still go. Then there's women who maybe aren't so clued up on this stuff yet - it feels like I'm explaining to friends on a weekly basis at the moment that no, being transgender does not mean medically transitioned anymore - so won't double check. Then I imagine these places might become a hot bed for transwomen/dodgy men who find out they can easily access this space with no barriers. I wouldn't have thought they'll go out of business though.
What I actually wouldn't mind is if there were options for everyone, so for example I wouldn't be opposed to some spas who allow transwomen if it is clearly advertised and allows women who don't mind to also attend them. This means having some spas with spaces for just biological women though. Funnily enough, they're not asking for both options as always - just that all spas are like the first. But we're the unreasonable ones.

I think someone earlier in the thread said there wasn't much the spa could do due to California's equality laws - so the spa manager could choose to kick a man out for being in the women's changing room, but it would be at the risk of being sued as said man "identified" as a woman and kicking them out would be "discrimination". It's ridiculous.

If women stop going to these trans friendly establishments such as spas then it will be just the AGPs left and they can all get with each other and leave the rest of us alone. As someone else pointed out, they're women, right? So should be no issue getting with each other

This is why JK Rowling attracts so much venom. She refuses to be cowed, she carries on with her life, she hasn’t changed her views (which are not that extreme) and being named as queen of the terfs hasn’t altered her stance. She is very wealthy and can afford protection and therefore has more privilege to say these things and yet so many others do not. The RA thing was insane - 8 complaints and they were petrified. TRAs have too much perceived power and I think they have overreached. There will be a reckoning but I’m terribly afraid women and girls will have been attacked before people see the truth.
I honestly don't think it will even matter if women are attacked. This will keep escalating and people will still believe that a) the victims had it coming and b) if they didn't have it coming then the person was actually not really trans

Dana Rivers murdered Patricia Wright and Charlotte Reed, along with their adopted 19 year old son Benny back in 2016 and he hasn't stood trial yet. A white man kills three black people (including two lesbians) but you barely hear a word said about it in media or online because being trans puts you at the top of the sympathy ladder.

Tara Wolf was convicted of attacking Maria MacLachlan but everyone on their side still says it is because Maria attacked them first.

Julie Bindel was attacked at a university.

The multiple women that Karen White attacked and the other cases we've been told have happened (but haven't been told the name of the attacker) in prisons.

There was a transman and several 'allies' who beat up a les in America a few years ago at a gay bar for being a 'TERF'

We've seen multiple videos of lesbians being harassed and attacked in pride marches / dyke marches but every time the organisers side with the attackers.

Eva Amati attacked three complete strangers with an axe (one a woman) after a les match on tinder turned her down in Australia

Even sexually assaulting ten year old girls doesn't make people wake up to the need for single sex spaces

They need us as props to validate them, though.
And sadly there's all too many women willing to do it. Of course, it's easy to preach about being kind and progressive and tell us to ignore sexual violence related trauma when you haven't actually been in one of these situations yet...I wonder how many of these women has actually been presented with a pen when naked in the gym, or been alone at night in a public toilet when a 'transwoman' comes in? And how their views might change if and when it happens to them? We'll see I suppose.

Totally but the more they hang around our spaces, the more they'll find themselves alone. Even the most eager dickpandering handmaiden will surely get tired of being treated as tank fodder by AGP men

In answer to that man and his “naked dogs” comment:

(I’m not using this to say that transwomen are predators at all. Just that men often think threats to women aren’t a problem because they (men) have not been affected.)

Agreed, I go to a spa with my mum (I am female) and there are options for all female or mixed places . I personally am fine with mixed places, my mum is not so we go to female only ones. I thnk the issue is knowing what you are going to , like if you are going to a place that you might see male and female parts then you expect it. Not taking your 9 year old daughter and being horrified
