I follow some IG gardening accounts and feel a bit inadequate when I see their seedlings. I can get seeds to germinate ok, but when it comes to growing things on mine always go leggy or don't grow any bigger. I know it's lack of light but there's not much I can do about it other than pray for sun on my window ledges.
Also, I was delaying sowing because people kept saying it's too early, then the end of March comes and somehow they have big seedlings with tons of roots - like they appear from nowhere so quick!

I got a grow light for my seedlings and it was really worth the money - I was struggling to get enough light even from my best windowsill and things were coming up leggy and leaning

Which one did you get? I've looked at them before but never settled on buying one. I struggle with available plug sockets in my house too. They're in really random inaccessible places 😞

As soon as the seeds germinate mine go into my unheated greenhouse, with a lid on the seed trays at night. If you don’t have a greenhouse a plastic storage box will do the job. again with the lid on at night or if the weather is bad. Doing this slows them down and encourages root growth instead of long spindly stems.
Also, sow thinly to give the seedlings space land water from the bottom up.

Hanging baskets work well. In a 12" diameter one you could have 4 plants if you use the water holding gel crystals and feed regularly. If it's particularly shallow you might be better off with just three though.

So I’ve got a part garden, part cat problem & I was wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks that have worked. Our house was empty for 2 years before we purchased & next doors cat made itself quite at home in the front garden which is quite open (we’re a corner plot) the previous owners of our house were keen gardeners and the garden had overgrown but had lots of bushes & shrubs.
Fast forward to now, we’ve been here two years and on a daily basis I’m chasing the cat out, it digs up my boarders to use as its toilet and I’m at my wits end. The world according to Google has suggested the following & I’ve tried them all:
1. Sonar - it sat in front of the sonar unfazed
2. Citrus peels - again sat on them 🙄
3. Vinegar - I soak the garden in the stuff, doesn’t deter him at all
4. Plant lavender & sharp bushes - he them up and sprays on them

I planted yesterday my autumn/ winter pansies etc yesterday & when I’ve looked at the garden this morning - they’ve been dug up 😢
I’m sick of wasting money trying to make my garden nice as next doors garden is fine & they get to have nice plants - cause their cats using my garden as the loo 😡😢

please if anyone has any tips, suggestions or advice - I’m only short of just leaving the garden to overgrow and pretend it doesn’t exist anymore, I’m that fed up!

I feel your pain. We ended up surrounding the garden with spikes, getting gorse clippings and leaving them in the beds where the cats jump down, putting high trellises with thick cover on the fences etc

The mole option is to put down chili powder in your garden. I did that in our old place as we were absolutely plagued by cats shitting multiple times every day.

Hi after some advice where do you all store your seating Cushions for your outdoor furniture? I Was going to purchase a keter storage container however I’m not sure if they should be stored outside in the winter? I Don’t want them to go mouldy? I did wonder if I vacuum packed them it would preserve them? Any tips or advice much appreciated Thankyou

I bought some of these from ikea and keep them in the garden shed. They’re sturdier than vacuum bags (which never seem to stay vacuumed anyway!) and are a really good size.

Japanese Maple? Need to be sheltered from the wind but they do well in dappled shade (or mine are still alive after a few years anyway - which is saying something as I'm not good with containers).
