Unpopular opinion but I think this season is going to be a bit of a let down compared to 2021, they hyped up the new regs so much and I bet nothings gonna change
I hope I’m back here on March 20th being just wrong 😂
As much as I don’t want that to be the case I think you could be right. 2021 was a one in the million season it feels like - especially considering it legit came down to the last lap of the last race. The fact that the new regulations are coming into place and are supposed to make the cars closer together supposedly makes me think that 90% of the things will stay the same as it was except that Haas just might be a bit closer to everyone else. Realistically Red Bull and Merc will be up the top and then McLaren and Ferrari and probably a few others will just be fighting it out the whole season as per. I think that the fight between Max and Lewis will be hunted up massively but will ultimately come down to driver confidence in a sense - like Lewis thinking if he will be able to get 8 and Max thinking if he can go through what he went through in 2022 again

I share your unpopular opinion. Hope I’m going to be eating my words but I doubt the order will change that much.
I’m worried for McLaren.
Ferrari - so so much hype around them so either they’ve got it very right like they are trying to signal or it’s going to be a disaster.
It’s not that I’m worried for McLaren, I think they’re being smart by not pulling a Ferrari and bigging themselves up in every other sentence. But I think everyone will have caught up to each other by race 3 and it’s gonna be the same old by then. I don’t believe they’ll be able to follow better either. It’s just a lot of hype for basically nothing in the end.

Exactly that! And I think Max had a huge weight lifted of his shoulders with the win so either he’ll be more relaxed and therefore a better driver or he’s gonna stick to the „everything else is just a bonus“ thing and not fight as hard for the championship.

Agreed. I really hope that Ferrari really aren’t going to be eating their words come the end of the season - they are appearing to be far too cocky right now.
And as for McLaren they started so well in 2021 and then it just kinda went down hill post Monza. Don’t get me wrong a lot of that was to do with things completely out of their control ie punctures but I think it really affected the confidence of the team as a whole, not just the drivers particularly Lando like it came across. I hope that the severe lack of Jon, I mean driver training, content is just them trying to do the opposite to Ferrari and not reveal too much so that they can’t be criticised at any point if that makes any sense.

Yep he is on this Morning! Not on yet but I imagine it’s within the hour. Don’t think he will be bringing the car with him this time!

yeah I get what you mean. From what I remember McLaren don’t really go big in the whole training photos etc. Doesn’t mean it isn’t happening despite what some crazy sections of the internet would have you believe.

I like it too, it’s tacky but it suits (haha) him

I love the RedBull jokes because of his history with them but if this were to come true I’d absolutely hate it 😂
I agree😂 I’ve so many people suggest that once his current McLaren contract is up he will go there. But also seen things suggesting that Merc have made a mistake by signing George over Lando… At the moment I dont see Lando leaving McLaren but that could all change. I think we just need to wait and see how the next few seasons go. It’s not happening anytime soon I think. Also how many years is multi-year? It’s all a bit vague…

“rivalry” ffs it’s This Morning with Phil and Holly not bloody Drive to Survive

finally someone who agrees with ferrari being arrogant ❤ i think mclaren are really good at sandbagging (every fp1 session ever) and they don't want to give anything away. i read that they stopped developing the 2021 car in the summer which merc, redbull and ferrari didn't do so that obviously gave them a disadvantage. combined with the insane amount of punctures and tracks that were never meant to be suited to their car it made sense for them to lose performance. but whenever any mclaren team member gives interviews they seem genuinely proud of their evolution in these past few years and so happy with the progress so i'm gonna trust that 🥰

Yes yes yes. The proud family vibes that surround that whole team are so freaking wholesome I love it. And in terms of arrogant Ferrari it’s like we get it your drivers are hot but when it comes to the car that doesn’t make a difference. We will laugh at you if it all goes tits up.

Adds Sharl DNF in Monaco to my list of reasons to throw fists this season…
So far it includes:
-Sharl DNF in Monaco
-Monza not providing pornic after going to Hungary with DR
-Other reasons I can’t recall

Brilliant! Proper chuckling away to myself getting strange looks as I wait for an appointment. I also agree that Ferrari are coming. Across way too arrogantly. Is that an Italian thing?

It could be an Italian thing. But I just think it is a Ferrari thing. Listen to the Red Flags podcast. They don’t particularly like Ferrari to say the least but the way the describe it (and everything else tbh) is hilarious. I think I mentioned it in the previous thread but it got lost somewhere.
