Good for Lewis. One hundred million a year and backing his inclusion and diversity initiatives at Ferrari.

Mercedes stopped fighting for him after AD21. Something happened, and I’m glad he gets a chance to try something different.

Him winning an 8th in a Ferrari would surely be the greatest f1 story of all time. If anyone can do it, Lewis can. 🏁

Rumours that Lewis is getting 100 mil per year at Ferrari, plus backing in D+I. No brainer to move if so! Attached screenshot is exactly why I think he's left, Toto hasn't been fighting for him for a while.

Out of the options for Mercedes, I think it's down to Carlos, Pierre, Esteban, and Alex. I think Carlos will sign with Audi's project quickly, and I think the best remaining option is Pierre. Pierre's beaten Esteban (who was well established in Alpine) in qualifying and on points, and doing that is a far stronger showing than Alex's whitewashing of rookie Logan IMO.

I don't know how to feel but saw this Vettel quote "Every one's a ferrari fan(...)" and my dad's assured me that it's every drivers dream to drive for Ferrari so ... eh.
My guess is Carlos will go to Stake (then Audi in 2026) and Albon will go to Mercedes with either Mick or Vesti going to Willimas.

Ooh I didn't think about Alex Albon (sorry old boy) him and George fighting to be top dog at Mercs. Besties maybe no longer?
Still prefer Pierre there but who knows?

Lots of people rooting for Alex in the seat over on Twitter (though if he's smart he'll chat to Horner first).

I also think that Alpine might be able to offer a deal that Pierre won't refuse, which isn't really the case for Williams with Alex. They've taken on really good engineers for the 2026 regs (for example Eric Meignan is now overseeing the engine project, previous head of Ferrari engineering and Mercedes powertrains). If whatever is happening on their test benches is really good and they can show him that, Pierre may be willing to sit through a mediocre 2025 for what genuinely might be a top car in 2026.

Alonso could be a good shout. He's surely only got a year or two left and he'd love a shot in a better team before he retires. I don't think Mercedes are looking for a long term option right now - they've got Antonelli who'll be ready in a couple of years so I think they'll go for a stop gap to see them through and Alonso fits that perfectly. Plus, him and George get on really well. Certainly wouldn't rule him out!

I think it makes sense to take Alex and then bed Vesti into F1 in with Williams rather than put him straight in the top seat

My husband also thinks Alonso is a possibility. I said there's no doubt he'll be excited by the news of a big shift around, and I'm sure he's 'just happened to be passing' Brackley, with the finest chorizo and Rioja in the car. 🥰😂

Peter Windsor has said Alex has a 3 year contract with Red Bull, now there's reports that this is false and has been put out by Alex's team in an effort to bait Mercedes into calling him!

😂

Who is Peter Windsor anyway?
Former Williams team manager during their glory days, now turned journalist. He used to moderate the drivers press conferences back in Lewis' early days, but then he tried to set up a team and it all went bits up.

So it does sound like a plant then
It’s all chess from here until signatures are on contracts
