News alerts will be set for Friday, I imagine this won't be a multi day thing and they're probably hoping dropping the news on a Friday will allow it to be over with by Monday
Anyone else quietly wishing for a total implosion at RB this season?! That combined with contract silly season for so many drivers could make this year v exciting!

Perhaps Otmar, Gunther and Mattia are all aboard that train!

I would like it only because its a complete shake up of a system that hasn't changed for years. (Also I love the gossip 😂😬)

Honestly, I pray for a Red Bull implosion. I do think there is enough top talent at Red Bull to deal with Horner leaving. But I think the Austrian level internal politics that seems to be going on affecting Red Bull and Alpha Tauri could topple both teams in time if they aren't careful.

I'm praying for it, and for McLaren to have built a good car to take Red Bull's place on the top step of the podium.

Both of them do my head in! They are like dog tit, everywhere
I will also stand by my comment on an earlier thread that it’s always the celebs that get to do all this cool stuff, be in the pits etc when genuine fans would kill to be there!

This is what the new Alpine livery (and race suits) reminds me of… 😳

A bit interesting, the Alpine drivers were asked about contracts.

Pierre's said there's conversations ongoing with his team, but he's going to focus on the car while they do that.

“Obviously I started with Alpine last year. I know the project I’m working on. I have the end of my contract at the end of the year and obviously there are conversations ongoing.

“I think the situation is pretty clear, but at the moment I just want to see what this car is capable of. Ultimately my goal is to fight at the front. I believe it’s possible with Alpine. I’m 28, good experience, I’m in my prime and that’s what I’m working for.

“I want to fight for wins, for podiums and be up there.”

Gasly, who turned 28 on the day of the launch, also suggested that talks with the Alpine higher ups were ongoing with both he and team-mate Esteban Ocon out of contract at the end of this year.

“It’s an ongoing process and we have had conversations,” the Frenchman said.

“I think it’s going to start going crazy after a couple of races or maybe it did already.

“Obviously as a driver, I’ve got my team to do this type of job. I’m focusing on what I’ve got to do as a driver because ultimately that’s what I want to do. I want to perform, I want to give my absolute best, I want to do my absolute best for the team.

“500 people worked day and night to get that car as good as they can and then my job is to bring it to further up the grid as I can so it’s what I focus on.”
Esteban instead says he's still a Merc junior, still has a Merc contract (??) and no mention of conversations with Alpine.

Speaking during Wednesday’s launch of the Alpine A524 at Enstone, Ocon said: “I've always had strong links with Mercedes. I'm still a Merc junior driver."

“This has always been, even if I'm not that junior anymore. I'm still contracted with them at some stage.

“So, it is how it is. We will see.

“At the moment, I'm totally dedicated to Alpine. That's my focus.

“I need to do a good job on track as always. Every year is a crucial year in F1 because it doesn't matter if you have a contract or not. If you don't perform, you can be out. That's how it is.

“If you do a strong job there will be always talks, rumours and good things for you. As long as we talk about you, it means that what you do on track is good.”
Suggests to me that Pierre's the one they're interested in extending, he's waiting to see whether his car is dogshit or not before taking the plunge. Meanwhile Esteban's trying to get his name in the mix for that Mercedes seat and not negotiating with Alpine.
