Hope it goes ok @Jay-cloth Cow
Spock raises an eyebrowThey ate their cats!
I did a similar thing with my son
Not sure if urban myth, but in the days before mobile phone we had pagers which used to vibratewtf!!!! i bet the technical term is just the latin translation of bumhole surgery![]()
Hugs mooey enjoy your maccys & hope it’s not too uncomfy xHope your daughter feels better @Flumps - there is a lot non covid related going round at the moment so fingers crossed she just has a bog standard cold.
I have been influenced and am going to get mcdonalds breakfast today! This is because
I have a coloscopy today and I am scared - my last smear was an awful experience, she was so rough to the point that I projectile vomited all over the surgery floor. Anyone got any tips for relaxing beforehand? One of my friends suggested taking painkillers beforehand, another said wine (don't think I'll go down that route!) But having never had one before I don't know if they give you anything that could be affected by painkillers?
What the!? Oh maaaaan!Had my McDonald's brekkie this morning, that was supposed to be the great recreation of the big breakfast. None of the extras were put on it, so I just had pancakes and sausage. Very disappointed![]()
Good luck today!! Ooh I had 2 hash browns the other day, it felt ridiculousThanks lovelies - i had a double sausage and egg mcmuffin, 2 hash browns and tropicana so nice and satisfied! I think I have some cocodamol in the cupboard so will take that before, great tip I didn't think of the codiene aspect! Thanks again and glad to hear they tend to be a bit nicer! X
Totally understand this. It can be really difficult to be inspired to cook for one. I like meal planning even if I'm just cooking for me or others through the week as I try to focus on saving money and less food waste. Cooking a chicken on a Monday can give you a meal for that day and then lunch and tea for Tuesday (maybe something like a paella?). If you've only got a small freezer then maybe try and fill it with things you can make a meal around, like frozen fish to have with fresh veg. I had a phase of batch cooking and ended up with loads of the same thing and got fed up of eating it. I also forget to take stuff out of the freezer so meal planning helps me with this and I feel a bit more inspired and organised. Also the Ice Kitchen by Shivi Ramoutar has some great recipes and advice about freezing and defrosting food safely which you could either batch cook or scale down to make 1 or 2 portions.I came back to Tattle yesterday afternoon after being BUSY! I was overly invested at the start of lockdown so spotted last nights intrusion which the regulars handled so well. I've spent today comfort watching The Food Network. I have posted before but I am recently separated (happily) and am struggling to be excited about food when its just me. I used to be a decent cook with a real interest in Spanish food. Now I love the Ottolengi books but its such a faff to make a meal for one. I have two boys under 10 so when they are here we do the usual classic dishes but they can be a bit fussy.
I just feel totally unorganised. Sometimes I cook for 3, other times the kids eat early and I am faced with making something for me later but dont feel inspired. This weekend they have been with their dad so its just me but somehow I have a fridge full of food. I have tried to batch cook and freeze in 'meals for one' today (I only have one freezer, poor frau). Any tips on meal planning? And thank you for all the lovely joy you bring.
Am on a mini grunka so someone has likely answered but our GP surgery has been sharing the following info pic - if the school are difficult it could be worth sharing with them?Morning fraus. Sorry to go on about my old boy and that, but he sometimes tells the most delightful tales about his long distance running that if he wasn't standing in front of you, you would imagine they were going to end rather like some of those more well-known stories. Amazing how quickly you can get yourself into trouble with weather and exposure and stuff even in merry old England. I figure my sloth-like nature is really a life preservation skill having heard them.
In more prosaic health news, my teen has woken up with a full blown cold. Am pretty sure it's a cold and nothing that requires us to paint a cross on the door, but am now worried that school will kick off about it. Am I supposed to try and get a test even though I'm convinced (and I am super paranoid) that it is a cold (sore throat/snotty/no cough really though she has got a bit of temperature) and isolate and stuff (not that we are going anywhere for several days - I have an online order coming today and am WFH)? Honestly, I like to think I am a sensible person and can maintain the semblance of a grown up, but I cannot follow what the rules are at all now.
Good luck Jay Cloth, hope it isn’t too uncomfortable.Hope your daughter feels better @Flumps - there is a lot non covid related going round at the moment so fingers crossed she just has a bog standard cold.

I'm not sure I have much to add from @Flump's suggestions except maybe to also check out Big Has on insta and for middle eastern food I recommend The Palestinian Table by Reem Kassis - its a really good book thats very informative of the history of Palestinian cooking and shows how its really all about the method of cooking rather than having loads of ingredients! Its a brilliant one for weekday home cooking. My apologies, dear hearts, but before this thread closes may I repeat my request for helpful information on Turkish cuisine (#628). Appreciate no one may want to respond, but the original did get a little buried in discussions of novelty Pringles tubes and alternative confectionery (no problem with this at all!) Promise not to ask again after this.
I thought it had been extended, though with different conditions, it was on the Martin Lewis showI'm not sure I have much to add from @Flump's suggestions except maybe to also check out Big Has on insta and for middle eastern food I recommend The Palestinian Table by Reem Kassis - its a really good book thats very informative of the history of Palestinian cooking and shows how its really all about the method of cooking rather than having loads of ingredients! @Jay-cloth Cow hope all goes okay today!
@Pocahontas Your story about the headteacher made me cry with laughter. Thank god you didnt curse him
Feeling pretty fed up...today's news has brought some pretty devastating repercussions for the industry I work in and I'm not feeling hopeful I'll have a job much longer if the furlough scheme isn't extended! Feels like one step forward then a million steps back.
I ordered some stuff online in June it hasn’t arrived, one item was via PayPal who were worse than useless, so I contacted the bank who refunded me, not a huge amount but stillHas anyone ever charged anything back to a credit card? I don’t know if I’ll even “be allowed to”? It’s a Barclaycard I’ve had for nearly a decade and never done this on before so surely they’ll say fair does and allow it?
It was a helicopter ride (husband’s birthday, he asked for it, I know it’s really not my thing and arguably quite naff). We tried to book in a few times and they’d always cancel due to bad weather, I had to pay to extend our terms and conditions despite having booked like 4 flight days with them that were always cancelled? I don’t think I got a receipt for that extension thoughLast night on the news there was this feature about how ducked the aviation industry is and how they’re getting rid of all these planes going to these plane graveyards and I’m like duck, this firm may not even exist now / in a few months?! It was a lot of money, the sort of thing JM gets gifted tbh, do you reckon they’ll help?! :/ Any tips gratefully taken! x
Call Barclaycard and speak to them. As you haven’t received what you paid for, you are entitled to your money back. I’ve had very good service from First Direct Visa card with things I’ve bought and not received. The company has quite a few weeks to challenge it but you should get the money back immediately. How long ago did you purchase the flight?Has anyone ever charged anything back to a credit card? I don’t know if I’ll even “be allowed to”? Thank you!! I wasn't being like our 5 bedded pal in mentioning the amount, just I'd imagine if it was a £40 train ticket they'd refund it in a heart beat as I'm an old customer and it's nothing to keep me in the Barclaycard universe, but if it's more they'll be less likely to? Especially as the aviation industry is ducked / they may not claim back from the firm if it's gone?I thought it had been extended, though with different conditions, it was on the Martin Lewis show

Yep it has, but for some industries the new conditions are just not enough to keep companies afloat! Going into winter things like cinema, theatre and hospitality need something closer to the original furlough scheme. We can't sell tickets if half the UK's cinemas are shut! There will be tons of redundancies. Bloody james bond.I thought it had been extended, though with different conditions, it was on the Martin Lewis show
I suspect you, like me, are probs a fan of Felicity Cloake and her perfect cornbread is my favourite. Plus, you get to read an article thoroughly discussing all the options for your enjoyment (I figure you enjoy this as much as me)......Yep it has, but for some industries the new conditions are just not enough to keep companies afloat! Sorry i'm being very moany and boring! On topic: lunch was a bagel with avocado and pickled onions and feta. Wanna make cornbread with veggie chilli for dinner, anyone care to share a cornbread recipe? @crystaleyesd ?!
