I was thinking about that article, because it's a shining example of how to write about something traumatic in a way that is actually helpful for other people. It's behind a paywall, and in the Torygraph, but still (full disclosure, shamefaced lifelong socialist who reads the Telegraph for food, gardening and fashion for the old) (and because the sodding Guardian enables the likes of Sali Hughes and Jack M I don't even feel that bad about it)
I used to buy the Telegraph every Saturday for food and house things. Do you have a copy of the article you can post?

I loved season 1 of You, season 2 not so much so haven’t attempted 3.

Cruel Summer is easy to watch in that the plot is simple, it isn’t too fast paced and it keeps you guessing (not light hearted though- some v dark moments and themes). I am liking it. It isn’t going to be going on my top 5 laminated list though!!!

Watched Show Trial last week which was hiding on BBC- I thought that was good. Thread on here about it.
Season 3is actually better than 2 IMO. Albeit completely unrealistic but had some funny characters. I really liked bump on iPlayer, really easy watching

Hi everyone!

I’ve been one week without a fridge freezer and it looks like I won’t have one for maybe another two weeks.

Week one hasn’t been too bad as I’m a crap cook and a bad eater, and I’m only feeding myself. Been living off eggs, bread, pasta and those small stir in sauces, and a few takeaways/ready meals for one.

I’ve just had a bowl of instant mash and bistro gravy with onions for dinner.

I do eat meat but not a practical option right now. When this is over I plan to eat an entire roast chicken in one sitting. And also a jar of mayo. God, I miss mayonnaise.

Never thought I’d be asking this, but what’s the deal with sandwich pastes? Do you just spread it on bread straight out the little jar? Is it nice?

Next week I was going to try buying those
tinned curries to chuck onto a jacket potato.

(No fruit based ideas please, long list of allergies.)

Thank you in advance for any cheap and cheerful ideas.
Can you not pick up a little table top fridge from a charity shop to tide you over? 🥺

I got the info in an email, and I believe it finished yesterday. It was 50% off everything and then there was an additional 10%.

Baked bananas are good with added honey, cinnamon, chocolate pieces. They need to be reasonably ripe. I don’t like eating quite ripe bananas raw/cold, so I either bake them or use in a banana bread. I only like eating raw just past the green stage bananas.

Baking them in a bonfire or barbecue is also good.
I find the whole banana thing fascinating. I had a friend at school whose family only ate them when they were black.

Mrs T only eats then when the skin is green and you can barely get it off.

I love them best when they are all soft and bananery- the ones people would have left to put in banana bread. But hot- no way.
Banana gate!

I use this mix with chicken stock made from our Sunday roast carcass,so get lots of tasty chicken morsels in soup and also add leeks for extra colour/ taste....I cook it in my instant pot in under 20mins! ( best investment ever!)
Oh I have an instant pot (but still not fully to grips with it) - do you pressure cook for 20mins? Love the idea of adding chicken stock, might raid the freezer as I think I have some frozen from our last roast.

Babe, same. I’ve got a parcel being delivered today by Hermes, and no matter how often I check tracking etc I know they will dump it somewhere vaguely related to where I live and send a photo before I even know they’ve been, I’ve only got a 50% success rate of retrieving it from whichever public place they dump it in. And it’s the sloppies at 6!
Any sign of your parcel?

I’m making this soup from Morrisons - forgot to soak it yesterday so soaking it today to make it up for tomorrow’s lunch. First tried it at my parents and it was really good. I don’t usually do lumpy soup (I’m a bit funny with food textures) but this was really good. It says to soak for 8-12hrs but am soaking for 24hrs as my mum found the marrowfat peas and split peas had a bit too much bite. You can also make it in a slow cooker (with additional pre soaking/boiling instructions). It’s a really lovely hearty winter soup.

I also feel like I’ve said the words ‘soak’ and ‘soaking’ too much they no longer make sense 😂.

I’m off to get my flu jab later. Was meant to get (a paid) one through the pharmacy the other day but they didn’t have any (and didn’t ring to tell me before I trekked there with Little Beds). Then I got a text from my GP surgery inviting me in for one. Not sure what qualifies me but must remember to complain that my GP didn’t call me after prescribing some steroid cream and super strong antihistamines to try and calm my super crazy skin this week 🤪.
