Sorry for the off topic but struggling to sleep because it’s one of those nights you’re on the cusp of a panic attack? Has anyone got any podcast recommendations that aren’t about killers please but also are not annoying? The true crime ones tend to have the pace and tone that can get you to sleep but I can’t be listening to tit about Peter sutcliffe rn!!! But also can’t deal with an overly chirpy person discussing SATC. These are the only two interests I have clearly. any recs massively appreciated 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
The Food Chain and The Food Programme - bound to be an episode or two among them that pique your interest!

Omg thank you guys ❤ Food is such a brilliant idea as it’s easy listening, everyone knows about food?! Same with Louis Theroux he’s chill enough, it’s not a 10 part series on a war criminal you know?

Praying for more sleep out of the baby this morning as our 5 hours a night isn’t helping the PA situation 😬

How can anything be off topic, in off topic 🤪
sorry for the not sleeping, I often don’t, and for some reason my tinnitus has ramped up lately.

Hello sweet - how about Adam Buxton - he interviews slebs and whatnot, but it’s all quite gentle, funny chat. I also like How to Fail (Elizabeth Day) - with both you can do a little cherry picking.

Ok Fraus. Coming to the right thread for once!

I'm going to be in Edinburgh for 24 hours (as part of a Scottish trip with my fella) and haven't been in a while. We are staying close to the Old Town. What food must I not miss whilst I'm there? Best coffee nearby?

I am trying to avoid chain restaurants like Dishoom but all other recommendations gratefully received 😉
Loudens is great for breakfast https://loudons.co.uk/reservations/
The Dome is beautiful but £££ https://www.thedomeedinburgh.com/
The Outsider https://www.theoutsiderrestaurant.com/

There is also a small independent restaurant called Five Guys but its really exclusive.

This is good, if a little showbizzy.

Podcasts: I would echo Adam Buxton. A nice gentle listen. Can veer from silly to serious but who doesn't love a podcast that starts with a dog walk in the countryside?

If you like more off-the-wall silliness then I have binged through every single episode of Athletico Mince despite knowing next to nothing about football. I love it.

Third choice would be My Dad Wrote A Porno. I started listening to it on my travels a couple of years ago. Many giggles were stifled.

Afraid I'm no good for podcasts but you have my sympathy for the PA stuff. Hope you managed to stave it off, my anxiety symptoms always seem to get worse at night 🤷❤

Anything to do with food though is a good listen I find, it's such a neutral, non triggering subject to focus on.

Isn’t it wild you can go all day and be absolutely fine, then when you’re about to sleep you’re thinking about what happens to your brain when you die or weirdly the Renaissance pictures of hell that always freaked me out in textbooks at school (it’s ok to lol at that one) and bam PA!

Thank you guys for podcast recommendations, I’m going to go through and follow these all today! It’ll be better for when I walk to baby classes etc too rather than listening to the Allen vs farrow stuff which is absolutely disgusting.

It’s all due to lack of sleep due to a baby leap/regression, hopefully? 😬feel for you fraus suffering from
Insomnia because it is hard going in the days isn’t it. ❤

Off Menu with James Acaster and Ed Gamble? They have guests they ask about their dream 3 course meal. And they are comedians. So it’s quite funny and very not serious.
came here to say this, but it might not be relaxing as it is often quiet high energy. Out to lunch with JayRayner is good, very calm

Michelle Obama reading her autobiography is like a big cuddle and a bedtime story. Such a lovely soothing voice.

neither of these are podcats but on youtube, I listen to both to try and get to sleep . I don't know if anyone read the Millie Mollie Mandy books as a child, but I find this very soothing and these hungarian folk days are also good https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4IHjMTbstJlt5vO181UWEQ

For everyone with cats there has been another cat food recall https://www.naturalinstinct.com/pro...XSq5htb_RolCEcGOrqLuYhwQh7ZphB1BvwWiHgEIY8QQE
I used to read the Milly Molly Mandy books👍

Love/d MMM! The maps! The sweets in the paper twist, frying onions, bread and dripping, hedgehogs, Billy Blunt!
I loved the names of everyone “little friend Susan” and the repetition of everything is very relaxing IMO

I second My Dad Wrote A Porno, love it, but you'll never sleep, you'll be laughing too hard! Death In Ice Valley is a true crime BBC World Service podcast and is a really good one to fall asleep to, the music is gorgeous and there are some lovely sing-song Norwegian accents.

I've spent the last three days working at my friend's farm - rolling fleeces for the last of her 800 or so ewes to be clipped on Sunday, then yesterday and today helping vaccinate, dose for worms, give a mineral drench and treat for ticks about 1,100 lambs. I am KNACKERED and I was on the easiest of those jobs (tick treatment).

@heretoreaditall2019 hope today/tonight is better for you. Lack of sleep really amplifies things doesn’t it? Bloody sucks.

Walking the Dog with Emily Dean is an easy listen and I love Table Manners with Jessie Ware (biased as I adore her music). With both you can cherry pick episodes.

I would say ‘this to shall pass’ re sleep regression/leaps as it’s all I get told but not very helpful/practical when you’re in the midst of it. Maybe just dunk Bubba in a bath of lavender (which also emits white noise) in the hope it relaxes her into deep sleep?!
