I think coming from money probably gave Fleur more chances to opt out than others felt they had. Also Fleur has always seemed mature for her age & seems to have a close group of non You Tube friends. I can’t imagine her friend Lissy & the Gleam crowd would have much in common.Oh they've been soooo much better off for not being with Gleam. I don't think Fleur ever really wanted the big YouTube fame the Gleam lot were chasing anyway, but I think both professionally and personally she's a lot better off than most of the Gleam crew.
Gleam is hell’s waiting roomI hate Gleam. I've been watching YT for about 12 years and I blame them for ruining it all. The same 6 or 7 promoting each other's makeup lines, books, clothing lines - and they expected people not to notice!
Definitely! She’s the one I actually believe when they say that they’re not in youtube for the money. Her and Mike obviously have a duck ton of money and could easily live the same lifestyle without her YouTube income, so I trust her recommendations more than others who I feel just take brand deals for the dollar.I think coming from money probably gave Fleur more chances to opt out than others felt they had. See, this is where I have to disagree (respectfully). Rich people don't stop wanting to become more rich or think they have enough money. Fleur had TONS of ad deals in her earlier days, she was working with so many brands and companies, just like the Gleam group, just for different products. She used to sell stuff that clearly was not in her make up or skincare routine. I do think she loves YouTube and is clearly not depending on it for financial reasons. But that doesnt make all her opinions immediately trustworthy. These days, she's changed because she stopped pretending being a girl next door kind of YTer who goes to Boots or Superdrug. We know now how they live (she used to hide that when they moved into their first "forever house") and what she spends on stuff so there is no reason for her to accept every cheap brand deal.Definitely! Yeah I'm also not into the hauls, and monthly favourites are ok to watch but still quite unrelatable. I think she had some interesting ideas in making videos on where to spend and save, and her brand videos tend to be quite good, but there is part of her that's definitely still stuck in 2013 YouTube that I just don't care for any more.I blow hot and cold with Fleur. The recent content focused around their home life has been charming, she seems capable and a devoted mum. I wish she'd ditch the haul/what I got vlogs though, we know they have a lot of money (the 'I saved up' thing she reels out from time to time is crazy) and is really out of step with most people's circumstance at the moment. It's creative to make something out of not not very much, any fool can drop a shed load of cash on a new bag.
Yeah! Weren’t Becky and Fleur friends?? What happened there? Her and Amelia definitely did spend quite a bit of time together in like 2012/13? I remember there was a few vlogs that Amelia was in, plus there was that thing that Fleur filmed with Amelia and Becky
I would love to know but honestly Becky seems to have had a lot of personal struggles that I think might have affected their friendship.Yeah! Weren’t Becky and Fleur friends?? What happened there?
She was engaged, then it was called off, and she went through a period where she lost a lot of weight and just didn't seem well. She now lives in Jersey and seems to be doing ok again, but yeah she doesn't seem to have anything to do with Fleur any more.Yeah I always wondered what happened there. They weren't just YouTube friends, they knew each other from uni and seemed genuinely close. Their videos together were really funny and sweet. I haven't followed Becky in years so I don't even know what's been going on with her.
I notice how she tried to almost distance herself from the perfume by saying she loved it when she was 15 - almost 20 years ago! Like she's waaaay too sophisticated and rich now to be wearing it. She's done this with some make up products before too by saying she loved it as a teenager.I just get bored of her shilling stuff you see once mentioned for a paid video and then never again in her favourites - the latest boots/champneys video was embarrassing, trying to make people believe that these are her regular products that she uses! And then with the perfume today, I don’t think I’ve ever once heard her talk about Mugler perfume (I’m not saying she hasn’t but I don’t recall it featuring in any of her favourites videos over the years) and yet chuck her some cash and she’ll be all over it like a rash.
I prefer her vlogs over any advertised/sponsored content, they’re much more laid back and natural. Just find all the false advertising naff.
de force is a pseudonym she took on when she created her YouTube and where most people have moved away from their pseudonym (sprinkle of glitter, zoella) she kept hers because it does sound like a name. Hers and Mike’s real surname is Bell.I also read somewhere that ‘De Force’ isn’t actually her surname and she wanted the ‘De’ in it to make the wedding brand sound French (this is since before she got married) I’m confused because her husband has this surname too? But it’s not actually her surname? Does anyone know the story behind the surname?![]()
