Same with the restaurants or pretty much every public space where she yells as long as she has air. I get that she has diasabilities, but so do I. Does her needs cancel mine out? On which basis? She can't help it, but in that case it lies upon the caregiver to calm the person down or - should that fail - remove the person from the situation.
Let's be clear here, I am not advocating for stim suppression. But extremely disruptive stims (and in all honesty, her honking is disruptive as hell) need to be toned down or limited to certain situations where they are acceptable. And before someone goes all "ableism!" on me, think for a minute what those extremely disruptive and annoying (and often constant) things are going to do for disability/autism acceptance in the long run? What is the idea people get when this is their first encounter with autism?
I totally agree. I don't think its a stim all the time. She uses it for attention, for their reactions, to get them to stop talking, to annoy them so she gets more snacks. There is no reason she has to honk like an animal. Same as the severe ricking. Take it down a few notches, geez! I would love to see an ex-ray of her spine. Its hurting her, I am sure.

Hence dried beans, rice, peas, noodles etc. Edible.
Unfortunately those items will not satisfy someone with PICA.

I have had PICA my entire life, like Abbie. It is actually a bit more complicated than a lot (not saying you) of people think. It isnt about "texture" at all. It is a literal craving for a non-edible item. Texture can be a factor, some people seek out their item along with texture, but it is not the dominant issue.
The cause/effect of PICA has been discussed, studied and disputed for years. Some studies believe it is strictly a result of the body's inability to absorb certain nutrients (like Iron) which cause the odd cravings. Other studies show that it is actually PICA itself that cause the nutrient deficit, because the ingestion on non-food items are hindering digestion and the body's ability to absorb proper food items. Kind of a which came first? The chicken or the egg scenario.

Its also very very common in people with DD, ADHD, and certain mental illness like schizophrenia. Its considered a Eating Disorder but now studies are leaning toward PICA actually being an OCD, and treatments vary from medicinal to behavior modification. I had both. I mentioned before that I had severe ADHD as a child. Severe. This was in the mid-70's...treatment was new, meds were new, and ADHD was simply "Hyperactivity" then. I spent my elementary years in a windowless room one on one with an therapist because even though my IQ tested well above grade level, I was deemed behaviorally unteachable. I was the first child in my county to take Ritalin, and my mother had to challenge the school board to allow me to take a dose at school. By age 7, my behaviors caused my parents to divorce, my brothers hated me, my mother was in therapy, and I damaged our home and belongings at a relentless pace. And the PICA. I craved and ate chalk, ice, dirt, cigarette ashes, Play-Doh...you name it. Even though ABA eliminated my horrible and unsafe behavior by my early teens, and I began to thrive in school and socially....here I am, just turned 50, and the PICA remains. I have Iron infusions every 12 weeks and also take oral supplements daily. Yet I still crave chalk. I eat Tums like candy, or drink Milk of Mag, because they taste like chalk and will not harm me.

Sorry so long. Just wanted to point out how PICA can stand alone as a sole disorder, or be a comorbidity to many others. (There are also significant cultural and socioeconomic factors that are super interesting, but I digress. :)) I have always been truly bothered that they talk about her PICA, but I have never ONCE heard them address how they are working toward (or had in the past) treatment options. Its really unpleasant guys. I joke about it myself, that I have to stop myself from literally licking my own ashtray when I have an episode...but how can Abbie express, or even substitute an item for a need that she cannot communicate, and parents who shrug and giggle it off? I have never said this before (due to the length of all this) but as someone who has lived my life with PICA- I 100% believe that at least half of the time that she is signing for "food" she is trying to communicate that unmet craving and need. It makes me sad. Again, this isnt like craving a donut. It is overpowering and uncomfortable. :(

So interesting, thanks for posting this. I mentioned before I don't think Abbie constantly signs for food because she is hungry or for attention, it seemed to be something driving her. Now that you mention it's overpowering and uncomfortable, I wonder if that contributes to her anxiety and melt downs. It's not like she can do anything when she feels these cravings but request food. Then they tend to ignore her....how frustatring Abbie's life must be.

And no one sits behind her either while she rocks the whole flight. They are too good for that. Let some other poor sucker learn about “autism”. They could also ask her dr for a mild sedative or med for anxiety for the flight. But not the Maassives. Let Ab suffer so Ass can have Vlog content. SMH. 😢
I remember a couple flights that people were in front or behind. In both cases Abbie was reaching over the seats to pull the persons hair and Asa had to be Ninja quick and grab and hold her hands. And yes, honking.

I loved it! What a kick in the pants to those trying to shut down any gossip sites. I smiled as I read it and gleefully signed.
Oh yeah...LOL...Whatever happened to the wannabe YT star Hanna, who was going to take down Tattle on behalf of FA? By using someone elses EXPIRED petition no less?! 🤣🤣🤣
Now THAT was entertaining!

I somewhat agree. Sorry I have said this like 3 times but that day Summer’s friends were over, she did not do the yell stim, only when they were in Summer’s room she did for like 1 second and stopped herself. I don’t want to say its for attention because she could have been repressing them because they had company over. BUT it made me realize she is aware of the noise she is making.

Also Abbie does not have Pica IMO. Pica is when people eat things because they have a craving for it. Abbie just puts anything in her mouth because she doesn’t understand, not because of a craving.

If I would buy a blender, I would just buy the original by Beauty Blender for $2 less. Plus, I can get an additional discount for signing up for the email. 🤦🏼‍♀️
Dollar Tree blender blob and brushes work great 😹

Thank you for sharing that. I cannot imagine learning to navigate life at such a young age, with so many things thrown at you. Not only did you navigate thru it, but you also kept moving forward and became you a true success story!! You have overcome SO much in your life...it takes a strong person to live thru all you have experienced early on then later add in the fire and the COVID, and life in general, all while continuing to be the best version of you, to everyone in your life. As well as the cool person we have come to adore! 🥰 Laser eyes for you, always, my friend!!! 😎

The part about Abbie makes me sad as well. She is trying so hard to live in her world, and having those two buffoons plus Summer and Isiah taking charge of her, is such a slap in her face. 😪 No wonder the poor thing honks, I would too if I had to live in all of that chaos.😫😤😢

Thank you for sharing. What I like about your story was the way the people in your life worked with you early to get you to where you are now. Your parents, therapists, teachers. All of them deserve praise and thanks for sticking to it and helping you to be successful. How might your story have turned out if your parents had been too lazy or just didn’t care enough to help you. I know it must have been hard for them (and you) to go through this with you. And it cost them. But I think there always a price to pay when you work hard as a parent to raise your child successfully. The rewards are great too! I hope your Mom (and Dad) are proud of you now.

I can't imagine having to live life as Abbie does. She gets no choices about her life, where she wants to go or be or do. She is like a trained seal for these people.
The constant grabbing at her, hanging on her, in her face tit would be too much for anyone.

I believe the rocking soothes her. I believe most of the loud noises she makes are because she is frustrated that no one will listen to her. I don't think she really has any control over it. They may have been able to stop that a bit but not sure they care to even try at this point.

She is constantly sensory overloaded and to "fight" back she makes that honking sound, until she gets to the point of actual crying.

Watching her is heartbreaking to me.

I fear for Abbie. Her future is bleak. She is on a collision course with two morons at the helm. Priss is determined to feed everyone to death. She loves to see the world burn. Ass...I'd leave. Take Abbie. You can figure something out. Run. Run, and don't look back. You love her...get her away from her pretenda-mom.
I dont like Asss either though.....

I am grossed out by the appearance of her skin. It looks like prickly pork hide...it really does. She should get into the habit of heavily moisturizing those hooves of hers before pretending to be some sort of slimelife hoof model. Scaley, flakey looking🥴🤢

🐮They fit right in, don’t they? 🐮

Before I read what you printed, I had to enlarge the photo to tell if the two legged upright mammal in the gray t-shirt was Pigcilla or Asswipe. From a distance they look exactly alike even down to the size of their boobs/moobs.

Is no one going to talk about how the circus is heading to App State next weekend?

Add another Isiah surprised us post on Cilly's Stuff and Things on IG.
I like that, #mother and son, and I thought she also had a daughter!

This girl gets no autonomy. Just because she's non-verbal, it doesn't mean she can't make her own decisions. And I noticed a flask with the puzzle piece on it in the screenshot too-yuck. How about something with the infinity symbol on for a change?
Honestly, I think the puzzle piece is the least of her problems. Her school uses the infinity symbol for their little recitals.

🥰🥰 Thats so nice of you to say! And you know, I have never really felt or saw my childhood as a struggle. I mean, it was just who I was. I was a happy kid. It was everyone around me who had to struggle!

My mother deserves the credit. How she held it all together as a single parent, with a child such as myself in a time much different than today...she kicked ass! I actually felt a lot of guilt when I reached adulthood. I know I couldnt help it, but I still felt guilty and sad for my mother when I looked back on it.
