Uh, what?? My 17 yr old son with autism is on a 2-4 yr old level. He will never be intimate with anyone unless he is sexually abused-and God help the person if I ever find out that is happening. My 22yr old is in a committed relationship and just had a baby.
Thanks, but we've got it.
For a decade I worked with men who were aged 18 and up who had all varieties of developmental disabilities. There were some that didn't, but most of them displayed some pretty serious hormonal/sexual aggression.
One fellow would use anything he could to the point where (trying to be delicate here) certain parts were badly injured. A book. A model airplane. A door left ajar. The space between the toilet seats... you get the idea...
The others often couldn't keep their hands off themselves and they didn't care where they were.
The females were not much different. Hormones are awfully powerful. Add to that zero understanding of the possible consequences.
A person can have the mental age of a 9 year old but they can still have the hormonal level of a 19 year old.
In the ten years I worked there, and despite our best efforts, there were two pregnancies... that I knew about. The outcome of those pregnancies were not good.
It can and does happen.
