Even if she does qualify for government based programs like that, you would figure that her family wouldn't take the help and would allow another family that is actually low income and is struggling to take their place, especially since it is such a long waiting list. Of course, we all know that they are selfish as it gets and love free shit even if it does mean that a less fortunate, more deserving family of a disabled child dosen't get services. These disgusting human beings make alot of money but, will NEVER do ANYTHING that could help another autism family. NEVER. This topic makes me so fucking angry bc, you see, my family is low income. (We don't discuss this with alot of ppl bc, we don't like ppl knowing that we struggle so much.) Eventhough they don't need any help affording things, they still continue to take up spaces in programs that real low income families need desperately. They are making all this money but, they still are more that happy to stand there with their hands stuck out waiting for free shit! They are sorry excuses for human beings and are a disgrace to the autism community as a whole. They need to stop being so selfish and think about other families that truly cant afford those services. So if I'm understanding this Medicaid waiver thing, she gets that automatically because she is disabled?
But the SSI check for being disabled is the one they look at parents assets on?
Seems like it should work the other way. Let people get their checks no matter the income and if you are high income, you pay for what the waiver pays for.
Of course its a government program so it makes no sense.

I think Summer gets paid for respite too. In addition to her personal assistant pay. She's there to serve at their pleasure.I dont think they are committing respite fraud. Becca is their only official repsite worker now that CN is gone. And I'm sure at this point if Becca is over her allotted hours they just pay her cash, like you would a sitter. Summer is there technically as Asa's assistant, but of course the real point of having her there is to be Abbies pet human and give them a break.
I am sort of trapped in my house like many other people so I thought I would share a fantasy that I have about this sick family. The family including Summer go on a trip to a noisy place with lots of people. Abbie grabs a big redneck's girl friend. The big redneck looks around and he sees fatty A holding a camera taking pictures of his girlfriend. He approaches fatty and before fatty can explain his daughter is autistic the redneck hits fatty over the head with the camera. Meanwhile Abbie is doing the backstroke stimming on the filthy floor while fat P is yelling my "sweet girl" is getting all dirty. The sweet girl has Summer in a headlock and is pulling out clumps of her hair. Someone else can finish this if they want to as I am going outside to put more seed potatoes in the ground.is registered as a Republican.

All true, but unfortunately we all saw first hand what scammers they are when the whole hiding Asa's income from baby mama for years came to light. They arent stupid enough to risk respite. If Becca uses all her hours, or they need Summer and Becca, they'll just pay them in cash, or count paying for their travel, meals, etc. as payment. Just because the state pays for so many hours doesnt mean they cant self pay for more....and Summer may be dumb, but Becca isnt. On nights like the prom, they both went as “respite” per them, which would be a no-no in Medicaid’s eyes... Of course, they could always just do fraudulent time sheets to both get paid...
This is the exact reason though that I believe CN is gone. She was probably really strict on placing her hours down and how many she was using and refusing to be paid under the table...

Ugh YES! I’m glad someone else pointed it out....I thought I was being too judgmental. We are a homeschool family, I have 4 kiddos and we started when my oldest son graduated 5th grade. The neighborhood school he was assigned to at the time had a HUGE physical violence problem and made the news every other day, our oldest daughter was in an all girls charter school and our two youngest were not “school age” yet. I spent the first year with just my son homeschooling and quickly noticed that, even though his younger siblings were 4 and 2, they were picking up what I was teaching their brother. My oldest finished that school year and asked if she could be homeschooled too. Year two I had one in 8th grade, one in 6th and one in Kindergarten ...plus my 3yr old that was convinced she was in high school lol. Year two was LOTS of trial and error, learning how to incorporate lessons into everyday life to keep them engaged versus making them sit at desk for 3-4hrs twice a day, learning what my teaching style was and how to give them the socialization they needed. While our school days don’t look like a typical classroom, our days are scheduled out several weeks in advance and our lessons build on previous lessons. For example, meal planning sounds pretty simple to most....in our house it’s a reading and math lesson for the tinies, life skills-planning-math lesson for my oldest two...every Friday they know that meal planning is part of the educational day. Watching them bust out a white board and schedule a break immediately after wake up, then pack merch for 10 minutes and then “porch time” had me fuming.....kids don’t always need to know they are learning to actually be learning, recess for example....I’ll take my kiddos geo-caching(math, reading, map reading AND physical excercise), heck even playing in the yard can be a lesson. My kids are always hunting for unusual critters/plants to google and learn about(reading, biology, writing), they each have a notebook with them and some of them will draw the critter/plant, some describe it with words and some bring it to Mom and say “close your eyes and hold out your hands”Typical exaggeration and half truths from the Maass family. THEY ARE NOT homeschooling. Their kid is out of school for a while, that is not even close to homeschooling. Even if they make a schedule and do a few things with her? Again, that is NOT homeschooling, it is parenting. I would think any real homeschooling mom and dads would find them absurd with those silly claims.

I agree. I have never agreed with spoiling a child too much. Abbie is the product of their parenting and the result is anything but a “ sweet girl “I agree with this, her behaviors are what she has been taught and gotten away with. They dont believe in discipline of any type because they say it makes her worse. Now she knows that if she doesnt get what she wants all she has got to do is have a tantrum. She could have been alot more advanced if they had of taught her more things earlier on that was acceptable and not acceptable. They were lazy and Asa just wants her to be his sweet girl/cash cow. If she learned not to put her hand on something hot, she could have learned others things as well. I know she has mental challenges but she is a spoiled brat as well.

I dealt with it myself with my own father....a man who became disabled at 61 after working his whole life was not entitled to life long care, and took over a yr to get approved for short term care because the investigation into his assets and income were so in depth. Not saying someone like Abbie, who has had a life long disability doesnt deserve services. But I can also my father couldnt get approved because his car was worth $2200. I had to PAY THE STATE $700...because his assets or profits from any assets couldnt exceed $1500.00....but Abbie can live in a mcmansion?? Yep. I know who you are referring to....she is only a bit older than me, so I was a kid at the time and unaware, but I read her memoir as an adult. So sad.I just got to thinking about a situation A reminds me of. There is a famous model/actress whose mother essentially sold them into what was essentially child pornography, sold her to do anything for anyone just to get a buck (won't say the name but easy enough to find out... it is very triggering for me and I get flashbacks so won't go further into it.) Her mother's excuse was she was making her daughter famous and giving her a future... of course she was pocketing all the money and getting rich.
I bring it up because every time A is call out for child exploitation and getting rich using his daughter he replies with "she is set for life." So justifying everything he does with securing his daughters future... though it is him and his wife who are profiting not his daughter. She would be happier and healthier with involved parents who care for her and spend time. Not money.
