I am a third year law student in the States. I thought the "legal" section of her video was extremely surface level, and most if not all of the information was stuff you can literally google and learn yourself. She didn't really provide any legal analysis. The cases really arent complicated either, and she doesn't have experience in the US legal system or in her career with criminal law or wrongful death suits. I also find it funny that she made a whole fuss about her leaving her career as a traditional attorney and then still makes videos like this that arent in her field or expertise. If she wanted to use her legal knowledge do it in the tech field where she actually knows things above the surface level google.

I never get why YouTubers think full videos themed around a sponsorship are a good idea, especially when she's only just returned the platform and wants to be more of her 'authentic' self.

Leave the poor woman of STEM alone, she has to make up the 50k wage deduction somehow.

I'm so tired of people using AD(H)D as a synonym for "having trouble staying focused at times". Eve, you're in a 1-year relationship, you have plenty of longtime friends, you graduated with excellent grades, received excellent feedback and training contract offers from all of your former employers, and secured a training contract at one of the most renowned law firms in a super fast-paced environment. I highly doubt that at least some of those things would have been possible with an undiagnosed (!) AD(H)D. People like Eve who missuse the name of such a serious mental illness are responsible for the fact that way too many people still don't take AD(H)D seriously, and think it's an excuse for lazy people that aren't trying hard enough.

Sorry for my English. I'm not a native speaker. I just had to talk to anyone since that retweet made me cry my eyes out ever since I've seen it.

Thank you for this post I personally struggled with this so much, barely being able to graduate uni, even though I was top student in high school and got admitted to top uni, suddenly it hit me like a bus. I seriously believed I just got lazy or dumb out of sudden and didn’t seek help for so long because of people like Eve talking dumb shit everywhere. I get so angry whenever I see bullshit like that and people not treating it seriously. Same with depression which is used on social media nearly all the time whenever you feel a bit down or sad.
Seriously Eve is becoming more and more out of touch and dumb unfortunately. She’s so fucking annoying recent times I stopped following her altogether. And I liked her so much when I first discovered her few years ago. Such a waste and disappointment.

i agree, but for someone whose entire personality has been constructed around the idea of being a solicitor and a “magic circle” trainee there is literally no way that eve went into this job without an inkling of what life would be like. It is often the case that that the people who excel in their law degrees struggle with legal practice…

Eve just likes the label of tech as she thinks she’s the only one with the capability to change anything as someone who identities as queer and she thinks she can “disrupt” what they do, she’s sorely mistaken

I'm happy for her that she's able to be out as her gay self and find a girlfriend, we love to see that, but she seems to have made it her entire personality to be the 'quirky queer' and I just don't like it.

I think she means disrupt as in, the technology she works with is ~disrupting the industry. But like, she worked on a new document reader software? Lol. She just wants to frame her job as something progressive and radical, but the reality is that she works an extremely corporate, unexciting job. And if she likes it, that’s great and all that matters. But idk why she has to pretend she’s transforming the legal profession.

Yes! She is genuine, she is real, she has social interactions (unlike other popular studytubers). That’s what I love about her. She seems like the average uni student. No “14hr study session” and other fake productivity sh*t

i don’t mind the ads when the videos creators put forward are still interesting/good quality, honestly used to be glad when people like eve got them bc a lot of work goes into filming/editing and it can’t be easy to juggle with a full time job, so at least they’re making something from it. it’s just annoying when a video is being made just so she can post the ad - it shows in the video idea/editing bc it’s so much poorer than her other uploads :/

edit - Also saying you can avoid the male gaze by not being straight places the responsibility of being subjected to sexism/objectification on women instead of men. I will start this by saying I genuinely like Eve (maybe I'm biased as a law student lol) but I am so sick of influencers not just accepting their mistakes. I know they have to worry about cancel culture and all that bs, but it really is so fucking annoying to see influencers going on holiday and generally just living privileged lives and then keeping it secret because they KNOW its wrong.

Aside from that, I don't think it's fair to her girlfriend to have everything about her plastered on the internet. I know we all come here to gossip/talk about Eve and being her girlfriend is a part of that, but she hasn't chosen to be in the public eye so I guess its not fair to speculate. idk that's just my opinion - not trying to moderate anyone

Yeah, i agree, though at least she’s got a job, unlike Jack Edwards who is trying so hard to cling on to social media fame.

I was just thinking the exact same thing - it does show that she at least knows when to call it a day, rather than clinging to the following built up through a lifestyle that is no longer relevant.
