Anyone watch Eve Cornwell? I quite liked what she was doing. It was interesting following her journey to becoming a lawyer and I thought she made some decent vlogs. Until today. So she starts off by proudly stating that she's never sold out by trying to flog merch. True, it's one of the reasons I liked her. 10 minutes later in the same vlog she's flogging hoodies. Only they're not merch, oh no, they represent membership of a club of like-minded people. OK, Eve, we absolutely believe you :ROFLMAO:

Her hair now doesn’t suit her! I can’t jell with this coffee thing like it doesn’t give you a personality

I think she’s a positive influence compared with people who dropped out of school etc. And I find it interesting to watch the process to become a lawyer.
Do wonder what her clients/ bosses will think of her yt videos tho in the future ??

I agree, I thought she was a great role model until she started the merch flogging. Yawn.

Another thing that puzzled me about tonight's vlog was when she said she was doing an MSc in Business. I thought she had just finished her LPC and was going to work at Linklaters?

That’s in September, so over the summer she’s doing the MSC

I’ve had quite a couple friends study for their masters along side working for a firm - it isn’t uncommon, just a load of work

Aha! So she's just explained that the MSc is done mainly in conjunction with the LPC and that there's quite a bit of overlap of both in terms of lectures etc. That makes sense.

I've watched Eve for over a year and always really liked her. I must say though that I'm disappointed with the flogging of merch, the hoodie and cup are really expensive and overpriced

This is exactly why I started this thread. I had thought she made really fun, interesting vlogs and she seemed really genuine. Turns out all she was doing was growing her followers in order to make a fast buck out of them. What really annoyed me was that she'd always made a thing of the fact that she wasn't flogging tat. Turns out she's as bad as the rest of them.

Totally agree. I have no idea why everyone is raving about her merch either, it's so basic! I don't even understand what it is, I didn't bother watching her announcement video but on Twitter she made it sound like she was releasing her own coffee. Is it just the hoodies and cups?

Basically, yes. But what got my back up was a long rant about how other floggers sell overpriced, crappy merch but she would never do anything so crass so instead she's setting up a "community" of coffee lovers. And how do you join this community? Well, you buy her overpriced, crappy merch ... right ...

So disappointing, not as if she even needs the money though I mean she's going to start her training contract for a magic circle firm, they pay their trainees very generously!!

I like Eve a lot, I get she can be a little cringy but I think she's more natural on camera than a lot of other YouTubers which is really refreshing. The only thing that does confuse me is that she is clearly so interested in crime, and seems like she'd be much better suited to criminal law. In the UK criminal lawyers earn considerably less than corporate lawyers, and the money is definitely attractive, but I don't understand why she didn't pursue a more criminal/crime based career.

I like her too. I think her having a full time job and a career she's passionate about makes her much more appealing to watch. She's clearly a hardworker and has things going on other than YouTube/"influencing". For me, most YTers become intolerable when they become a full time influencer.

Still don't really understand the point of her millennial coffee club thing, though I haven't followed it too closely tbf.

I believe it’s more competitive and hard work than cooperate law as your fees are less and often don’t get the clients you want, she may well want to branch out into it when she’s earns some decent money and done the training contract, which isn’t that uncommon

It's not my place to speculate about anyone's sexuality, but I know a lot of people think Eve is bisexual which if she is, then it's her decision to disclose that. I think it'd be nice to have such a positive LGBTQ+ role model, but her sexuality isn't a key part of her 'brand' and therefore I don't think it's fair to speculate and push it on her. Regardless of that, I really enjoy Eve's content and I think that she's offering a really unique take on true crime videos - the 'usual' true crime videos are generally sit down, and as much as I love them (I'm such a fan of Eleanor Neale), it's really nice to watch something more creative and energetic. I'm actually studying Law and Eve made it seem so much more accessible and engaging than I first imagined at 17 years old and I am really grateful for that, but I do wonder if she genuinely enjoys Corporate Law or if she is just doing it because it has a very attractive financial bonus (which I don't blame her for, I just think it's sad that we encourage people to chase money rather than happiness and genuine enjoyment)

She's publically campagined and stood up for the LGBT community and there was a particular shirt in a video about liking girls or something similar? She isn't withholding her sexuality, she may not be certain or she may just not want to define herself to a massive community. It's not withholding to have a wider audience if she's so open about her support for LGBT rights, if she was silent about the community whilst also being ambiguous about sexuality then maybe I'd understand but nobody is required to come out even if they have a large following.

Probably delayed cause of coronavirus. Manufacturing difficulties, problems with shipping, people not being able to spend lots of money etc.
