There have been gay and lesbian people in the legal profession for generations. It’s offensive to claim otherwise. I’m no fan of the “bring your whole self to work” thing. In return for paying me a salary, my boss gets the work I owe her and not a pinch more.

It's a pity that the "trainee diaries" didn't continue; since it really was well done, shot, and edited, and it was still in "her style". I think the lockdown and work from home could have provided some interesting material for at least one or two more episodes (I mean she showed bits of it in the "3-day self-isolation productivity vlog" and the recent video about her WFH desk setup; but I think it's a pity that the series didn't continue considering how grandiose the intro was lol). So there might have been some reason behind it.
The "deep" videos are just not it.

She’s employed at a magic circle firm, right? Then it was pretty obvious she wasn’t going to do youtube for much longer. Work-Life-Balance at such a firm usually means come in at 5am and use the amazing gym but then you gotta stay til 10pm

I am actually shocked at the latest video. I can’t believe someone who is as smart as Eve would think that was a sensible thing to do. The cheery opening with ‘I’m back with a really exciting video’ then the poorly placed advert and general tone of the video was a huge miss. Surely this doesn’t represent well on Linklaters either? It certainly makes me question them.

Besides the obvious issues with how delicate material has been handled, I also feel like the actual legal content was rushed through and just done quickly to say she’d done a video and possibly meet the ad requirements. I felt it could have gone into greater detail and provided more depth in a few areas.

this pissed me off so much, I've been spending the past days being super anxious about going home for Christmas and potentially infecting my parents; meanwhile she's here annoyed that she maybe won't be able to go to Paris. I get that she wants a nice holiday and she deserves it, but honestly at this point in the pandemic she should know that traveling is very risky and the likelihood of cancelling very high

edit: did you guys read the article in which she was mentioned, I thought it was quite interesting

I can't stand her videos at the moment, they just sound like she's trying to be clever by using terms like "toxic productivity echo chamber" but honestly what did she say in that video? The only points I got out of it were 1. productivity is a social construct and babies aren't born trying to be productive (no shit?) and 2. she bought a Nintendo switch...

This kind of stereotypes are disgusting and dumb. So many times I had to second guess my identity because people kept commenting on what I like what I wear and what I do just because I was a little bit different than what was considered a "normal girl" by the society. She as a queer person should be more aware of that.

New poster here - didn’t really follow Eve but had an awareness of who she was. Happened to bump into her in real life - can confirm
she gave off narcissist vibes. She also wasn’t wearing a mask lol (in a country that is v strict about this too)

After that experience, asked people I know who work with her - they all said they had heard rumours she wasn’t great at her job

maybe but as said before on this chat shes only rich bc of her Dad works in tech whilst her Mum is a psychologist so very unrelated to what shes doing. Theatre isn’t a corporate chain where Daddy can get you in the door. Either way very privileged. I wonder if she’ll be on Eve’s channel one day, YouTube is quite like acting I recon! I would love to see how they interact!

You say that but she went to private school, she’s also just graduated form a degree in theatre? She’ll have connections, someone she knows will have worked in that industry? It’s not uncommon. As the saying goes, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know

She never studied Law A-level or knew anyone who did Law, I wonder why she chose Law...when she clearly likes science. She did Bio A-level and said in one of her captions that she misses learning about plants or something. I wonder why she didn't go down the science route.

It's harder to make money in science. I think Eve is driven by wealth accumulation hence why she chose law.

Like with everything else, Eve lazily delegated the work rather than put in effort herself to build a respectable brand.

It was run by her management company of grifters, who source all their products from the cheapest, shittiest, most ill-equipped suppliers. As a result, they were able to offer up generic drinking straws and poor-quality hoodies, but it was a coffee shop that couldn't offer coffee. (A lot like how Jack Edwards and Ruby Granger both have stationery companies run by the same management team and neither stationery company sell pens, pencils, or, y'know stationery.)

Her dreams of imitating Emma Chamberlain died on their ass immediately and were never mentioned again.

I think the general idea is not a bad one, but it's clear from the comments that people are finding the editing and the ad placement, particularly for this case, rather distasteful.

I'd think she'd do better by picking an FT news story every week and unpicking it and the potential legal issues - commercial awareness is a big thing for people applying for law firms, she'd easily have an audience for that, a never-ending supply of content ideas and generally nobody died.

I was gonna ask the same question. I feel like since she actually isn't straight her dropping hints etc isn't a bad thing and just goes to show she came out when she felt comfortable and I respect her for it

As a trainee at an MC firm myself (not Links) I can confirm that my plan is to qualify and gtfo! It doesn't matter if Links is the 'elite' - I feel like someone like Eve has a great appreciation for a work/life balance considering all her hobbies and would prefer to be an associate somewhere where a 9-6 workday is actually somewhat possible. At any rate, if it's not looking like you'll make partner (which will be made pretty clear) there's no point staying and grinding.

The real question is how much Eve actually does for the community. Visiting drag contests and putting rainbows and the word "queer" all over her Instagram is hardly worthy of an award, is it?

I do wonder if Eve would have been able to land her current TC with Linklaters if it wasn't for her YouTube channel, especially as she was essentially an outreach person at one point or another

I think her having this huge audience of current/future law students, plus a platform overall, probably gave her some more headway than a person who has similar grades/experience (outside of YT) to her

I'm honestly just surprised she doesn't seem to have a private IG account for her friends/acquaintances to post stuff like that onto, or she doesn't seem to think that the picture may seem a bit inappropriate for a public profile that will be associated with your professional career too
