hi! long time lurker here! I don't know about you but there's something about Eve (especially her instagram stories) that has been sooooo annoying to me since around the pandemic started. I don't know, I feel almost bad about it, because her exam vlogs from when she was doing her LPC are amazing and I rewatch them all the time for study motivation. I don't know what exactly it is that's bugging me?? maybe it's her being pretentious but honestly idk maybe I'm just jealous bc she's only slightly older than me and has already achieved so much haha. I wish I didn't find her as annoying as I do but her whole 'online persona' is so infuriating now and her videos (especially the latest one) have been boring as hell

i feel the exact same! i don't know what it is either but her 'cute and quirky' personality is just so irritable now. i just feel now as she is a corporate professional she still acts as she did when she was in university and just hasnt really matured and it just comes across as fake and bitchy to me. think she is trying to be relatable but it just isnt working.

i think her channel has gone downhill since she left uni and shes trying to cling to that personality she had when her channel was bigger. she has also become very money hungry i believe, she will be earning a fat salary at her law firm and has absolutely no need to be taking shitty skillshare ad money unless they were giving her a significant amount of money to make it worth it.

Yeah, I don't know really. Personally, despite knowing I was gay since about 13 or so and having a pretty supportive environment, I still was hesitant to "make a fuss of myself" (in my eyes) by coming out until I felt it was necessary - when I was dating a girl at 22. Maybe that's just my own internalised homophobia/being a private person about these things though, don't mean to project onto her lol

Did anyone else notice how her attitude towards Linklaters has changed? She used to praise the company in every video. In her recent video, she said that there was only one department she could imagine working in and that she was thinking about applying elsewhere. Those 2 years must have been horrible then... This would also explain why she has never completed her "law diary" series.

I'm gonna disagree here and say that many people are going on holiday or have booked holidays recently, and if you can why wouldn't you? Until the last week or so there have been very minimal restrictions in terms of travelling, and whilst it may not be the best idea right now, you can't blame people for wanting to move on with their lives and get a sense of normality back.

My issue is that she marketed MCC as a 'club' not just merch. Those who bought the products therefore expected more than the product itself, but to feel involved in some sort of 'hustle culture' community or whatever. Eve just made the money and - quite literally - disappeared. They were massively mis-sold in that respect

Yeah she was going on about meet ups and making a whole community and then dropped it and never mentioned it again- which I imagine is frustrating to the people who went to that Bristol meet up. I wonder if the hoodies/coffee cup trailer is still up on her channel but probably not.

the thing is with these big magic circle firms is for the most part you’re a very small cog in a big wheel, you dont get to go the interesting and exciting tasks and you’re often doing the grunt work. You don’t actually get good training. I reckon she really struggled with the intense corporate lifestyle of Linklaters, she obviously didn’t enjoy her training contract, it wouldn’t surprise me if she qualifies and then moves firm shortly after

Didn’t she specialise in Corporate law too? Which is coincidentally the highest paying area(?) They really do make you sign your soul away. That must be the most soul destroying thing ever lol

Yup it’s actually very common. When I graduated the figures were that 20,000 law students graduated but only 6,000 end up with TCs and most of these weren’t at elite firms. It’s probably even worse now with covid

I assumed they all had TCs to commit to that insanely expensive Central London rent/lifestyle. Is her family loaded then?

Aside from the annoying advert this is actually the type of video that I find more interesting and hope Eve continues with. It was a little brief but I suppose the case itself is still ongoing so we couldn't get to a conclusion just yet. Maybe she could have waited until the case itself had progressed further but I actually found this content interesting so I hope so concentrates on stuff like this going forward.

i agree offices don’t have gender stereotyped dress codes, but do you not think there’s still expectations of who should dress how, like if a guy walked in with a feminine outfit, would no one care? (i don’t work in law, but i know in my office there’d unfortunately be people questioning it). i don’t think she was necessarily trying to dress to showcase she’s gay, rather she wasn’t forcing herself to always dress feminine (by wearing something like a dress) to fit in with what’s expected, because i would say there’s still some judgement if you go against the traditional men dress masculine/women dress feminine vibe. i agree that it’s applicable to everyone, not just queer people, but i think it’s more common for queer people (imo, especially gay men) to be constrained by these expectations. i think women in suits/more masculine outfits is becoming more common and accepted (as it should be, if it’s professional i don’t get why it matters who wears what). but from my own group of friends, i know too many feminine gay men who wear blouses/dresses/everything feminine in between outside of work, but stick to a suit for workwear instead of something like a blouse because they don’t feel comfortable dressing more feminine in a corporate space. so i interpreted her video more as dressing masculine/feminine whenever you feel like it despite any pressures to dress a certain way i.e. expressing however you’re feeling - not actually actively trying to show you’re gay through an outfit.

Yes there are expectations as in stereotypes but they don't come from workplace itself but people in general. Judgement comes from "normal" people first and foremost - family!, friends, acquaintances, cashiers, everyone, not from corporate dress code which as such has to be basically neutral - and during work hours you're representing the company not yourself as such.

Besides, in my opinion, when exaggerating your sexual preference (as far as I know Eve is lesbian and it doesn't refer to her gender identity as such) through clothes and making it your main personality trait like Eve does incorporates these stereotypes even more. People should be able to wear any type of clothes they want without it automatically hinting specifically to their sexual orientation, simply because it's a very private space. I just feel it's very show-offy when it only concerns your personal life. In overall you do you but there is no need to accentuate your private life in the workplace. It's as if you felt more important and special just because of your sexual orientation and had to showcase it even in the office. Like why.

On her Instagram stories she’s always walking around london or in a coffee shop or in a random clothes shop at all hours of the day (like in 9-5 hours) I’m confused? Like today on her stories she’s walking round London in casual clothing I’m like does she still work?

I mean it’s really not that bad, I’m scrolling on my iPad rn lol. I personally find the job incredibly interesting, like I’m currently working on a takeover of two of my favourite beauty companies. You only get that kind of work in the city. And the hours in corporate can really die down as it’s so deal dependent. WFH has also made seeing family during the week easier.

From what I gather Eve just never really cared about the reality of the job and wasn’t very good at her job. No respected 4th year trainee does a legal tech seat sorry, you would be wanted too much in more prominent departments

I agree! I really like my job as well. It can become super intense...but not always. The work and clients are really quite cool and I get most of my weekends completely off. I do often work fairly late into the evening but - at least at this stage in my life - I don't mind that. The money is a bonus and I personally think we are overpaid for what we do lol haha but not gonna complain.

Lol speaking as a fellow mc trainee, she will not be rich. Well unless Youtube money is helping her out. London lifestyle, London rent and income tax dwindles the salary pretty quickly. Most of us flat share and even my supervisor who is 6 years qualified can't afford his own place yet.

Anyways I really hope her content gets better, I actually used to enjoy it and relate to a lot of her vids. But everything she posts is either an ad or a insta story about having a girlfriend. Its bloody boring.

Well let’s face it... skill share will be paying her enough for her to want to produce the content so I’d suggest a minimum of £1k per video
