Well corporate law is a very interesting subject actually (there are many sub-branches you can specialise in too!) so I don't see how it's unexpected for Eve to go this route. I was law student myself and I was changed my career plans like multiple times already to end up in corporate too lol. I'm not in UK but here corporate-related career has much better prospects (not only financially but also the possibility to learn from the best, resources, prestige, meeting like-minded people too). Other thing is that criminal law is obviously the most "popular" branch of law also because the media portrayal. Most of my major was at some point at least super interested in the criminal law branch (me too but thankfully stopped) but eventually realised it's not as interesting as everyone thought. There is tons of boring stuff there and going into the criminal law doesn't mean you become a detective and do passionate inspirational speeches in court. Same as people in corporate don't only go there for money. To me it's not boring at all, it's very practice based, you have a chance to see huge transactions "from the inside" and learn how the market works. It gives you tons of knowledge, a very useful in life too. So criminal law might be interesting to the general population, especially as a yt content. I bet not many people would be interested in "How to M&A" contrary to KimK in criminal law or famous trials. It's also connected to the huge true crime community (which I hate tbh - nothing worse than a thumbnail with a sharp photoshopped bad ass bitch face next to a dead body eaten by click baits).

Yeah, no thanks. A law influencer as airheaded as Eve wouldn't have anything new or worthwhile to contribute anyway, but she's weeks late to the party.

If she's trying to pivot into clickbait-y entertainment law content, she really needs to step up her game and make videos about these cases when they're active/relevant. She's paying someone else to research and edit her videos and still can't get content made quick enough to stay relevant. If she's a "LawTuber" now and she missed the window on the biggest pop culture trial since O.J. Simpson, then what's she even doing?

Another thing i find odd, not just with this video, but with other legal content, she tends to talk about american law. And the thing is, she went to uni to study british law, which is not the same thing. So she can’t really speak as an ‘expert’ even if you cast aside the fact that she has no experience with criminal law

She's very likely just parroting other things she read online from American LawTubers/whatever her new research intern threw together. Like you say, she isn't trained in American law, so she can't really apply her knowledge base to the case because none of it's relevant. But if she sticks to her niche of British law, there's very few entertainment-related trials for her to talk about, and she's clearly too lazy and creatively stunted to come up with interesting content that hasn't already been all over the news and discussed ad nauseum by other, smarter, better-informed people online.

I honestly don't know why she hasn't just called it a day with YouTube. She has a full-time job, and YouTube can't be lucrative for her if she's paying all her ad/sponsor money to her management and a researcher/editor now and clearly has no ideas, passion or interest in making content.

I know Eve would reply that her posts don't reduce her credibility in the workforce, there are codes of conduct for a reason. PROFESSIONALISM. There is a time and place for everything. You can't flash your underwear at work, she is still a solicitor outside of work, she should be more mindful of this. The way she represents herself outside of work reflects on her career. Eve is 24 years old is she not? Time to grow up I believe.

I feel like she would be a lot less annoying if she wasn't so pretentious and overdramatic about everything she does. I think it is important and valid to address the problems and insecurities that come with making a career change after working so hard towards one specific goal. but she could have been a lot more chill about that in her video. with eve, I always feel like I get her point and to some extent agree with what she wants to say but find the HOW she brings that point across unbelievably annoying.

I wonder if her whole friendship circle is like this, if one of my friends acted this self-important I'd be so annoyed

She's publically campagined and stood up for the LGBT community and there was a particular shirt in a video about liking girls or something similar? She isn't withholding her sexuality, she may not be certain or she may just not want to define herself to a massive community. It's not withholding to have a wider audience if she's so open about her support for LGBT rights, if she was silent about the community whilst also being ambiguous about sexuality then maybe I'd understand but nobody is required to come out even if they have a large following.

I'm gonna disagree here and say that many people are going on holiday or have booked holidays recently, and if you can why wouldn't you? Until the last week or so there have been very minimal restrictions in terms of travelling, and whilst it may not be the best idea right now, you can't blame people for wanting to move on with their lives and get a sense of normality back.

Minimal restrictions? What? The testing and isolation has been rumbling on for ages! It’s clear to see people who haven’t really been that defected by the pandemic carry this attitude (eve continuing to go on holiday) despite the fact she can afford not to go! It’s selfish and her and Boris can get in the bin, this oh we need to carry on attitude is bullshit, speak to some NHS workers or teacher or care staff and then ask yourself (although eve’s too selfish for this) if it’s all worth it to get “back to normal”

I'd say it's also sketchy she was somewhat sponsored by Linklaters since maybe it may seem unfair to other candidates and/or trainees and give an impression she receives some special treatment. At least it was very sketchy to me.

The whole sponsorship thing is why I think they gave her a training position as an 'illusion' of being part of their outreach team. Even the videos about Linklaters specifically just seemed like massive advertisements for the actual company even if they were well shot

her recent video is disgusting. I clicked on it but couldn't bring myself to watch it and just ended up reading through the comments. I'm so disappointed in Eve. I loved her videos because I felt like she was relatable but nowadays she just seems like another rich London influencer girly who's trying very hard to be quirky. I am genuinely so so happy for her that she's comfortable in her sexuality now and is living life the way she wants to, and it might be that when you meet her she's a bit more toned down and genuine but lately everything on her social media has either been extremely cringey or outright disappointing...

edit: i am super interested in the people she's friends with - are they all at the same level of privilege and pretentiousness?? I feel like people very much reinforce this kind of cringe behavior

I never get why YouTubers think full videos themed around a sponsorship are a good idea, especially when she's only just returned the platform and wants to be more of her 'authentic' self.
