oh my word 😳
Why would anyone think that that was a good video to post, especially as the slow mo highlights you yanking and kicking!?
ive not looked at her page before but…yeah I won’t be following her.
It’s def not great riding. And def not someone I would promote :-(

Raythegoth on Instagram go watch her latest reel shes very handsy / spurs on in general
She needs those reins and spurs taking off her until she learns how to bloody ride! I’m no where near perfect but would be mortified if I saw a video of me riding with those absolutely awful hands yanking the horses mouth every stride.

You can actually see the bit coming out the poor horses mouth

This has really shocked me tbh. I don't follow her but went to check it out. This is surely what you would show a video of what NOT to do?? Sawing at that poor horses mouth like that. The overuse of the spurs. And astoundingly, the comments telling her the horse looks happy and great! Can they not see the horses ears pinned back? Just because a horse is going forward doesn't mean it's happy. Breaks my heart seeing honest horses being taken advantage of.

It’s horrible to watch. I mean I am sure we have all caught horses in mouth, I know I have but it’s been unintentional and not every stride. When I was in the pony club we used to ride down grids without reins and stirrups and I credit that to being able to not use my hands for balance. Every body should be made to do it, even if it’s just flatwork on the lunge.

There is so much weight over the back of the saddle as well. Although the horse can carry that amount of weight doesn’t mean that it should!

Omg! I had never heard of her but went to watch the video! Why would you slow Mo the parts where she's yanking that poor horse in the mouth whilst booting him with her spurs whilst waving her whip around! And then the cheek to share about being hit hard by bullies- calling out awful treatment of a horse is NOT bullying or trolling 😡

I can remember doing grids holding two cups of water too. And so much work without stirrups, reins etc to work on our balance and seat. Do they not do that now?

I did lots of lunge lessons & grid work with no stirrups or reins, taught ponies to walk on and halt/move away from our leg with our seat and barely a squeeze with our legs. Whips would have to stay stock still across our knee or you weren’t allowed to use them.

Not 100% sure health and safety may not allow it. Hopefully they do as it’s so good for a rider especially as things go bits up and we need to balance ourselves and not rely on the reins which are attached to the horses mouth.

Couldn’t agree more. I’m not saying what I am saying to be nasty, I am sure she is a lovely person. She just needs to learn not to yank and boot the horse every stride and it’s horrendous to see it in slow motion.

I can’t take up much contact on my ex racer or he’s either backwards or off depending on his mood, being able to literally “throw the reins at him” out riding has been a lifesaver on more than one occasion. He just thinks WTF and stops in confusion 😂
You’re right. H&S probably wouldn’t allow it. I can remember chucking a nightie and some hard feed in a rucksack and hacking to my friends in the next village for a sleepover with her pony. We would prat around on her farm doing stuff I’d probably have a heart attack over my own kids doing 😂 I used to hate having my stirrups taken away but I appreciate it now and still do the odd schooling session without them

I occasionally take my stirrups away have done it a few time this month means how it’s no stirrup November, only 5/10 minutes but it helps with my seat. I on a rare occasion pop a tiny log, I don’t bounce well enough to do any proper jumping now though 😂😂

I saw the video of raythegoth on Tiktok. Horrified at how many saying she had a lovely seat etc and saying how well she was riding.
Also came across another, lavender blue training or something like that? Makes for unpleasant viewing also.

Not being nasty, or anything, but what are weight limits on horses? i noticed she sits really far back... most school lessons at riding centres say 13stone, so was just intrigued to see what the weight limit is for horses? Or is particular breeds better for it? i noticed blog of a cob too and she jumps and the way she comes back down. just really interested in whats allowed and if if damages the horses in the long term?

not large shaming or anything in the slightest i'm just really interested how it works with bigger riders

There is no weight limit apart from a crude 20% of horses weight. My horse weighs approx 700kg would I put 140kg (22 stone) on him? Not a chance!

me personally, I think there should be a weight limit of 13stone because tack and your riding hat/boots etc adds another 2 stone.
There are lots of things to factor in, like age and fitness of the individual horse. A bigger horse won’t necessarily be stronger if it is young and or unfit. Same as a large horse won’t actually be stronger because it has large and not muscle and then has to carry its own large aswell as the weight of the rider.
then there is the work expected of the horse. If just going for a short, quiet hack then a smaller horse may be ok, but if going for a days hunting or you want to be jumping courses out showjumping or eventing, a bigger and fitter horse may be needed. Older horses may be weaker and not able to carry bigger people.
plus there is the level of rider. A bigger rider that is balanced in the saddle could be less strenuous on the horse than a smaller but novice rider.

it’s a topic that always divides the equestrian community. I’m not large shaming at all, I myself gained a lot of weight in 2020 and have been losing it this year and aiming to get back in the saddle when I’m around the 12st mark. I’m tall at 5’10 and understand that I need to watch my weight if I want to ride.

Pepper is also obese. Massive cresty neck and apple bum.
I agree, she looks like a lovely natured horse but she is large. Her crest is huge like a stallions. I hate it when people say my horse is naturally big boned and stocky so can take my weight, when really their horse is large.
