My 7 month old will catch a snooze on the sofa while we’re there but she sleeps in her crate at night. She’s not allowed on the beds at all. She does jump up but is immediately told to get down.

I’m quoting myself here but my dog is nearly 2 now and still sleeps in her crate at night. The door is left open these days and she’ll sometimes move over to the kitchen sofa.

During the day she’ll lie on our bed or the front room sofas. We stopped telling her to get off ages ago

Barking Heads! Brilliant quality food for the cost. Can be bought most places, would say direct or amazon are cheapest.

Both my dogs are on it and thriving. Lovely coats, solid stools that are easy to pick up (sorry probably not TMI for dog owners) I use the Lamb one. Loads of dogs are allergic to chicken.

Another food I love is Guru. Its cold pressed so the closest to raw you can get, Surf & Turf is probably the gentlest on the tummy.

P.s both my dogs are a breed with ear issues and theyre both ok with Barking Heads.

It is a minefield and difficult to know what is best. Ive opted for BH as cost wise it is affordable vs quality of food.

In an ideal world Id feed raw but with youngish kids about Im reluctant to start due to the germ issue.

Dog owners... what food do you feed your dogs? My boy is getting recurrent ear infections that I think is down to a food allergy. He's on Wainwrights at the mo. Been looking into Raw but it's too expensive (I have two dogs). Going to do a trial of Tails.com and looking at Arden Grange sensitive!

My pup is only 4 months im looking to changing food soon, she’s currently on royal canin but I don’t like it, i’m looking at changing to forthglade or millies wolfheart
My 11yr is on burns and has been from a puppy, was a good brand back then but there are now better, but it suits her and not changing at her age.

we have tiles in kitchen / conservatory / utility and carpet in lounge / dining room. Beige carpets in lounge can’t believe it’s 15 yrs old we have a carpet cleaner and on the whole look new. We’ve had 3 puppies in that time, if you toilet train your pup you should not have too many accidents. We currently on pup 3 obviously had accidents to begin with but with consistency was toilet trained in two weeks, we don’t have accidents now. Just to add my lounge is a calm place, dogs are allowed and allowed on the settee, but they have to be clean and dry, and we don’t play in the lounge. You set your own boundaries

We have laminate all over and had no issues with both dogs.

If a dog is toilet trained well there wont be loads of accidents.

My oldest dog was completely reliable within 3 weeks. My youngest dog was reliable within 10 days of bringing him home.

Dont use pads, out every 30-45 mins and after every play, sleep and eat and youl be laughing. We use dog bells on the back door from the get go and both dogs have picked it up so quickly. Dogs want to please you

Edit - unless you mean like a physical accident, slipping/sliding. Make sure there paw pads are shaved regularly if theyre a breed with overly furry feet and shouldnt be an issue x

I would say laminate is a good option for puppy accidents? Although our house had nice laminate down already so didn't have to pay (extra) for it!!

People make it more difficult than it needs to be imo.

Puppy pads are the work of the devil. I will die on this hill. Yes dog toilet indoors but only on these mats. There are people I know whos dogs are still toileting occasionally indoors years down the line and its baffling to me.

Consistency and positive rewards and dogs thrive.

Toilet train as fast as you can and it won’t matter what flooring you have. Anything easy to clean is a bonus.

Some dogs dislike laminate flooring, but most are fine so long as they don’t get excited. And it’s noisier, especially before they’re due their nails trimmed You’ll probably need some rugs for problem areas, at least initially. I have laminate downstairs and numerous runners because my dog has never got on with flooring without grip. I would rather have carpet but the floor is fine for humans. I have a Vax carpet cleaner for all the rugs and do that monthly, using a Shark pet hair vacuum 2x a day.

My grandmother has laminate flooring my boxer would slip occasionally when over excited but dogs tend to right themselves quite well, whereas my mums toy poodle hasn’t really had an issues with the Laminate (calmer, less heavy and excitable) to be honest if you are bringing a puppy home to laminate I think they’d get used to it quickly. Defo preferable over carpets and dogs!

My old dog wasnt allowed on bed or sofa, new dog is all over both. New dog is about a fifth of size of old dog
i am currently sat in my sitting room being eyeballed by a dog a cat and a guinea pig so maybe not best placed to comment

we don’t plan to have carpet anywhere, and in terms of breeds, we’re considering Corgi and / or Swedish Vallhund. We’d love to rescue eventually but we’re not experienced yet.

I use Arden Grange for my Springer. She’s been on it for almost 2 years now and I’m still happy with it. Before this I used Simpsons 80/20 but it was getting more and more expensive; I’m honestly just as happy with Arden.

This is the one I use. It lasts ~6 weeks for my 20kg active springer, fed twice a day.

My mum has used Tails.com for our dog for a few years now. Its the only food our dog has actually eaten every day and her coat is so shiny with it and its not too expensive either.
