I’m glad it’s not just us!We're in the process of buying a house from a couple with a lab and they've also created a bedroom for him under the stairs!Trying to convince my husband to keep it as a room for our dog instead of using it for storage.

Agreed! I want to keep it and take it to the next level.I’m glad it’s not just us!it’s so sweet, we’ve put a little bit of carpet down in it and he has his bed and his toys in there, we just need to add a little press on light for him
(we recently had to isolate and it was made to kill some time while we were stuck indoors!) We have kept the cupboard door for it for the next owners when we eventually sell in case they’re not big dog people like us and would prefer a normal cupboard
personally, I think you should definitely keep the doggy bedroom

I was very skeptical about using a crate, but when my dogs were pups, it worked good, I never shut them in, put a blanket over the top so it was more like a den for them, now they sleep wherever they want!!!We have a 4 month old lab. Growing up both our parents never let our family dogs upstairs / on the sofa so we said we’d do the same, but the day we bought that 8 week old puppy home... I couldn’t sit on the sofa and watch tv without a cuddle!? So now he helps himself to the sofa whether we are on it or not, but I always ensure there is a blanket on there as although I love him I am a bit too in love with my expensive sofa to let it get hairy etc. (Even before the dog I hoovered it weekly). He’s now started climbing the stairs and does enjoy a mooch about but I don’t think I’d like him sleeping upstairs with me. I tried it once last week when I was alone but he cried and ran back to his crate, he feels cosy and safe there I think so we will continue to crate him at night. (Don’t crate hate me). When he’s done with the crate eventually he’ll have free roam of downstairs, currently has beds in the kitchen and living room so imagine they’ll both stay.
No I didn't, they just put their dog on the lead, said he's never done that before , sorry and buggered off!!! I've never seen them before, it's a local walk to me, unfortunately I was on my own, and had my oldie in my arms whilst trying to see if my other dog was ok.So sorry to hear this. Did you get any details of owner or pictures? Please report this to the police as having an out of control is illegal.
I would still report it as it could be that they are known. What kind of a dog did they have?No I didn't, they just put their dog on the lead, said he's never done that before , sorry and buggered off!!! It was a Labrador, tbh waste of time reporting it, why can't folks understand if you put your dog's on leads when approached by other dogs, there's a reason for it.I would still report it as it could be that they are known. What kind of a dog did they have?
Some people are ultra thick and don’t understand that. I’ve had problems with Labradors before. In the local park one day, A male came up to my female medium size dog and jumped on top of her and slammed her to the ground. There were three of us there and we pulled him off her. We called the number on his tag and the owner had already left the park and somehow left the dog behind. Unbelievable. I know, and it's not down to what people think are the aggressive breeds, my boys have met all sorts, but labradors and boxers have been the worst. No thank god, I've had a good check over of him, but it's the mental side I now have to deal with, again, plus me taking them out and not showing anxiety, just soo annoyed .Some people are ultra thick and don’t understand that. Yorkies here too and I’m pinned in place every night with one between my legs and one down the side of me ! I think it depends on the breed for me, Iv had a lab who didn’t set foot upstairs or on the couch but small dogs that go anywhere they please. We have a Yorkshire Terrier and yes he goes everywhere. Can get really annoying at night actually because I can’t spread out.
