My dog sleeps wherever he wants to! That so happens to be on our bed and we love it! There’s nowhere he can’t go, no where he can’t lay! He’s not simply a ‘pet’, he’s a family member!

I think there are two types of owners: people who have “dogs”, and people who have “fur-babies.” Definitely the latter...Ours are allowed everywhere, they’re the children we’ll never get to have.

Dogs should be a part of the family, they have short lives as it is and deserve to be loved and cuddled every chance they get. I don’t see the point in getting a dog if they can’t even have a cuddle on the sofa with you, all they want is to love you. Sad really.

As many have said their lives are so short, they give us so much and are quite literally the best creatures on the planet. So whatever my dog wanted she got.
Yes! I read a quote a while ago that said that we have a life separate from our dogs, they don’t have that, we are there whole life, they don’t have anything but us. I only got my first dog 3 years ago and I will admit that before I got him I didn’t get it, I really didn’t, thought dog people were weird. Now I have my own I fully admit I was wrong.

Also this quote from Marley & Me gets me every time. I well up.

“A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water logged stick will do just fine. A dog doesn't care if you're rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he'll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?”

We rescued my dog when she was 3 years old, she went from a life of sleeping on a thin blanket on a kitchen floor to having a choice of any bed in the house and any sofa / armchair 💛 she’s our baby, she’s 11 now. I believe dogs deserve the best🥰

It’s not sad at all. We give our dogs plenty of cuddles, on the floor. Just because you don’t want them on the sofa doesn’t mean they don’t get plenty of love and cuddles 🙄🙄 implying you love your dogs less because you don’t want them on the sofa is ridiculous.

We don’t allow ours (two labradors) on the sofa, and they aren’t allowed upstairs at all. Both dogs have, in the past, taken a fancy to sleeping on the sofa when we are out of the room! They cover it in hair so it’s not hard to tell when they’ve done it!
It actually is sad. You can justify it all you like at the end of the day you care more about the appearance of a bloody bed or sofa than having them comfortable and happy with you. Your tone in your posts says it all lol.

YES!!!

my MIL has a little dog. He’s beautiful and so well behaved. He’s only allowed in the kitchen. So, when they watch telly, he sits there on his own. All the time, just in the kitchen. Why bother having him?
I can’t even lie, this breaks my heart. I hate leaving my pup for work even though she’s never on her own. I can see the sadnes in her eyes as she watches me out the window 😭

I honestly love my Mabel so much more than I could ever express. As another poster said, she’s got me out of some dark times. Before I got her I never thought I’d feel love again after my mum died (she was only 56). Now I just look at her and feel love and that’s a great feeling. She gets me out the house every day and my mental health has improved massive. Anyone that says they’re just a dog doesn’t love them as they deserve.

Our dog is definitely our furbaby! The love, loyalty and friendship we get is worth the extra bit of time to hoover up hairs or wash a couch throw. Their lives are short and I'll do whatever I can to make it comfortable. The dog was by my side when I had the worst moments of my life so if he wants to cuddle on the sofa he can.

My dog is allowed everywhere. He is family. He does sleep at night on the landing in his bed. Outside our room. He can sleep on our bed in the day if he wants. People forget that dogs have baths and flea treatments that cover them monthly. There is no harm. It does depend on owners and their dogs. My dog is really loving. He wants cuddles and love. I can't ban him from anywhere. He can't sleep in my bed at night for fear of my husband squashing him:ROFLMAO: He doesn't sleep in our room. because he would just jump out of his bed and in ours. Only safety reasons he sleeps next to our room. My neighbours dog sleeps in the garden. I hear him crying all the time. Just breaks my heart. They have him as a guard dog. My dog is my baby

My dogs are extremely happy and as comfortable as they can be, thanks for worrying though. Our eldest girl is very arthritic now and close to the end of her life so we are doing all we can to make her last months happy. Our big boy is full of love and cuddles, which he gets loads of. I don’t give a toss about the appearance of my sofa. I have 3 young kids. Our sofas are not in any way pristine. Please don’t make assumptions about me, just because you do things differently. Our biggest dog weighs 7 stone. I don’t want him ever thinking about jumping on a sofa when my small kids are on there.

I don't share anything with my dog. I rarely let her go on the furnature either. She is a Shar Pei and let me tell you, this particular breed leaves snail trails everywhere with their slobber and they do have a specific odour as well as shedding hairs which feel like cactus needles... so NO. She also farts like an adult man and snores like a chainsaw, so again NO.

However when my late Bishon Frise was alive, she slept in my bed and was allowed anywhere.
