Yep! I'm sick of them guilt tripping me and making out I'm the least important because other staff members work more hours than me, so if I ever need time off etc it's always on the other staffs terms. Bearing in mind none of them have children. I'm the only one that does and childcare can be a big issue for me in holidays. They are also refusing me time off during the summer holidays yet other staff members are allowed holidays? They have annoyed me so much I've handed my notice in. I'm not having my life dictated by a minimum wage job when there are plenty more out there that won't treat me this way

Oh balls to them - are you doing your full notice? There are loads of better employers out there and I'm finding the job market is still relatively going well so you'll have options. I had the same at my old place, I pointed out I'd never be able to have my birthday off or see my parents who have summer birthdays and I got "well the work won't get done while you're away" 🙃

Mentally give them the two finger salute!

My job from hell is the gift that keeps on giving.

I was told in December 2021 I would get promoted by December 2022. The previous manager has since left and I had my mid-year review with the new manager who said they heard nothing pointing to this and they need to confirm whether they will have a promotional "pool" this year. Then my team lead jumped in and said: "We need to consider the other person in the team as well" (this other person being someone everyone is complaining about, including the manager and who has severe personality issues).

They've been working me to the bone for the last 2+ years, not to mention their ruthlessness after my dad died and on top of this, they're basically telling me a promotion might not happen. Well, it's a big BYE then.

I mainly asked to see if it's worth sticking around until the end of the year, but now I realize they clearly have someone else in mind and a promotion is not likely to happen.

Hey guys, a little update I have been offered a new job that I am looking forward to starting.
Although things depends on references, I’ve requested them from my old employer as i don’t want my current job to find out yet . Is that weird?
Hopefully they will give me a reference
Fingers crossed

In my excitement I forgot to include that it’s been formally offered. It’s with the NHS so I suppose it’s all security and employment checks

The NHS will usually want a reference from your most recent employment though. If it’s a formal offer you should be okay? And congratulations!

I’ve got a job interview tomorrow and it’s a hybrid position in a big company so It’s so much better than where I’m at now. It’s less money but it would give me much better career progression. Fingers crossed I get it🤞

Ugh, they sound like a nightmare. I think it's time to find something new, which I appreciate is hard.

I was snubbed in my old job in a similar way, groomed for promotion then last minute they pulled the plug on the idea, even though i had worked really hard. I started looking for a job after that, it was hard to keep myself motivated after that.

My current job I don't hate yet but I'm not far off, mainly the people are getting on my nerves. The actual work itself is enjoyable WHEN team drama actually allows me to get on with it quietly. This month has been a rollercoaster of emotions in the team, so many are dissatisfied with each other and it shows. All the knives are out at the moment, and I'm desperately entering the lottery hoping I won't need a job 🤣

Hey all,
I’ve finally decided to bite the bullet and hand in my notice tomorrow. I’ve had 2 panic attacks in the last week & I’m on the brink of a breakdown. I’ve not got anything lined up (yet) and want to change career paths as I can’t cope with being in the public sector anymore. I’m burnt out from bullying/mind games & the pressures are too much. I feel guilty because I’m another healthcare professional to leave, but my physical/mental well-being & family means more.

Does anyone feel like they shouldn't be allowed to hate their job but they do anyway? 😅

The pay isn't bad, benefits are good, they have even offered to put me through an apprenticeship, but I am just bored to tears by the role and I find the manager, her partner and another member of the team insufferable. I also find some protocols they have in place suffocating. Such as constant random drug and alcohol testing. I work on a computer and I never take drugs, I just feel like what if I fancy going to Amsterdam for the weekend with my partner? Everything I do feels slap dash after work, as I am darting around trying to clean my house, see my partner, cook, gym, go and do things, shop. It is frowned on if we leave for dinner because apparently we should be in 8-5 with an hour break but we do 8-4 <which is the working hours I was told in my interview. I do sometimes go out but I feel like you're made to feel bad if you do. However my manager goes out for hours and still finishes at 4. I understand that is a bit entitled but it is just suffocating to sit doing nothing in an office knowing there is 1000 things to do after 4.

I can't focus on the apprenticeship because any time I start to study, my manager comes out and makes up a random task which doesn't need doing to interfere with it, or she will come and speak to me about things constantly, which she never does if I am sat scrolling tattle as it looks like I am working. I could come in 3 hours a week and confidently do my whole role. We aren't allowed to work from home unless there is some massive reason. Although this would probably be standard pre-covid, I do a computer based job and hardly have anything to do during it so I find by 4, I am sprinting through the door and playing catch up with my real life.

My manager and her partner both make comments on my clothes, hair, (lack of) make up, hometown, food, class constantly and it feels so underhand sometimes. I am used to 'ooo you're so posh!' comments as I have an unusual accent for where I live.

I just have lost all motivation for being here and I don't know if i can get it back

You should have protected time if undergoing an apprenticeship, so I’d take that up with HR. I got something like 3hrs per week where I sat in a conference room or little office. You could contact your learning provider and ask them to have a chat about your time allowed. Part of the contract is the employer has to abide by it as well as you.

Sounds like madness, but if the benefits are good it’s hard to leave 😩 If you can do your job in 3 hours a week why don’t you ask to take on more tasks? It might help liven up the role a little!

I actually asked once, because I’d enquired about the salary of another role in the company and it got back to my manager immediately, who called me to a meeting to basically say you’re not going anywhere. I said I’m not planning to leave but I need more to do because I’m getting bored. She discussed things I could potentially do but never actioned them, she’s been saying since I started that there’s more tasks coming but I’m yet to see them 😂 She has now taken on 3 more staff members so there’s even less to do 😂 all of us sit playing games and watching tv all day because there’s not enough work but for some reason I think the manager likes the grandeur of having a lot of staff working for them and doing the bare minimum as a result. An absolute nightmare. The good benefits are basically holiday buying so I can get 30 days off a year, and they do a good pension scheme

I would be wary of stating too openly how little you work, I know people who have done this and just had their hours cut
