What's everyone's biggest designer regret?

Years ago, I bought the 3.1 Philip Lim Pashli satchel with some birthday money and noticed the medium size was on sale (at the time, it retailed at around £700 and I got it for £450 - bargain). I hadn't actually tried the bag on but assumed it'd be fine because I liked larger bags at that point and the size down looked too small. Anyway, it arrived and my word, this bag is HEAVY and so horribly bulky. The clasp on it is such a pain in the a too, it doesn't close neatly and you have to stop what you're doing to fumble around with it to close it. The hardware is a bit scratched as a result.

Poor thing has sat in a dust bag in my cupboard for years! I've tried so many times with it but it's just not comfortable for day-to-day use. Crossbody is a no, it bashes up against my hip and my shoulder hurts if I carry it on that way. It's ok if I carry it by the top handles, but the clasp problem really puts me off from using it.

Gucci belt. I bought it when everyone was wearing them. Wore it about twice and then sold it. I'm just not a belt person so don't know why I thought it would be a good idea to buy one.

Why don't you sell the bag and buy something else?

I wouldn’t say it’s my biggest designer regret because I luckily don’t have any but this one thing does bother me a little. Purchasing Chanel lamb skin bags. I prefer the look of lamb skin more than the caviar because I really love the smooth look and it just looks more luxurious in my opinion. The thing is it’s easily gets scratched with anything and it’s so annoying because I’m not one to baby my bags but I try to be careful and use each bag for it’s intended purpose. I don’t have long or sharp nails and I try to keep them away from any sharp objects, I store them correctly yet every once in awhile I find another scratch. They say to buff it out with your finger but I’ve tried that and it still won’t go away. So yeah that’s my designer purchase regret 😂

My designer regret list is pretty long.

buying two Bayswater’s and then realising they’re just too heavy
buying a mini celine luggage and realising it weighs a ton - and losing a load on selling it
buying the tiny Valentino my rockstud bag, realising it doesn’t even fit my phone and losing 2/3 when selling it.
buying multiple pairs of designer shoes and after one wear realising they don’t fit my feet

I’ve learned I definitely need to think through my purchases better and be less impulsive!

I got a red Louis Vuitton Alma BB, hated that bag so much. Sold it on eBay and the woman who brought it lied and said it was heavily damaged, eBay sided with her and gave her some money back, which I favoured over her sending it back to me because I hated it that much.
Just wasn't my style at all, and I got it from Designer Exchange so I didn't get the full fun experience of buying something nice which probably made me dislike it even more.

Whilst I agree about the Chanel lambskin and I said before I regretted getting my trendy I don’t actually and I still love it even after it broke, would never sell it.

Think my only real regret purchase was the Dior sling back shoes, loved them to look at just unwearable for me but I sold them for what I bought them for 👍🏼

Where do you all shop for general everyday clothes? I've just done a big haul on Revolve, most of the stuff I ordered comes from Lovers & Friends, and some from Superdown. I've never ordered from there before but I haven't treated myself for months so I wanted a style re-vamp.

Yeah I'm gonna sell it. It's such a shame the hardware is scratched slightly but I've looked at other preloved ones and they're the same. I think it's more a design error because the clasp is quite sharp.

I love the Luggage but it does look very heavy!!

Not sure if it counts but, I regret buying Globe-Trotter suitcases in ivory. I wanted them because I thought they looked so pretty but, the airport carousel staff obviously don’t give a tit and ruined them!

Urgh hate this about eBay 😤 I sold a pair of Louis Vuitton shoes a few years ago, the buyer contacted me saying the heels were damaged & she either wanted a refund or to return them to me. I felt stuck because they were immaculate when they left me (only worn for maybe half an hour in the house) & she’d have had to damage them to justify sending them back to me. I swallowed the amount eBay made me refund her & I’ve never used it since.

My speedy 35… but only because I don’t get to use it as much anymore. I bought it when I was travelling about quite A lot as it sat nicely on top of my suitcase so I could roll along with it or simply use it as an overnight bag if I just needed a toothbrush and change of clothes. My Circumstances changed and that’s just my life anymore. I still love it as a bag and still use it but it just makes me sad I don’t travel like I used too.

For years I’ve added stuff to my Wishlist on Revolve and never purchased anything 🤣 because of it being American I was always nervy about the shipping or not liking something and the returns but I see they are free now so that’s good.

I am really unsure about this set I've ordered and I imagine I'll return the top so I'll let you know what the process is like. It says it'll be delivered on Monday so they must have a UK warehouse now too

I live in the Netherlands and for me when I order from Revolve, the shipping takes about 4 days with Fedex. I also thought it comes from a warehouse close by in Europe, but all my tracking info has been from California haha. Super impressive how fast their deliveries are, especially considering I placed an order at my local H&M on the 8th and it is still in the warehouse and not shipped out yet 🤷‍♀️

That's brilliant! Good customer service always makes me want to be a repeat buyer. I hope I love all this stuff 😂 I did promise myself I'd stop shopping completely but I want pretty things  I was thinking of going to H&M after work to get a cheap pair of white jeans, to see if I can pull them off

I used to use Farfetch a lot but I'm so wary of them since my brother ordered some things off there to my apartment, they marked it as delivered but the concierge had no record of it, they had no signature and no drivers proof of postage but refused to refund. We took it up with DPD, who said it was Farfetch's issue to deal with, and they basically insinuated we were lying. He had to do a chargeback through the bank in the end. Really off-putting.

A couple of regrets:
• Prada biblitheque tote bag - I remember begging my dad to buy this for me after my exams, it was one of my first designer bags and it was on sale too. Looking back it was still way overpriced but when it arrived I LOVED it. Sadly it’s way too big for me and doesn’t fit my style/life (I’m more into crossbody and shoulder bags)…I just can’t bring myself to sell it. Now I try and assess whether bags will work well with my life

• My first pair of Louboutins. They were a gift and I hadn’t tried them on, so I guessed my size (and sized up, because someone told me they run small. I was too shy to tell the person who gifted them that they dont fit :( Sadly they are way too big, even with insoles

can we talk about our best designer purchases?? This is making me anxious that I need to stop hoarding 🤣
