If Richard Allen did it, the state has a weak case at best. At worst, he could walk and double jeopardy applies. If he didn’t do it, the states case is proving that for him. What a mess.

Absolutely agree! Apart from the “confessions” we are yet to hear, there is no DNA evidence…. Not one fibre, the description of bridge guy is WILD from tall, well built, young, old handsome man with curly hair! Unless the state can prove that photo is Richard Allen ( even then not slam dunk) I think it’s very very weak, if the confessions state something only the true killer would know that could win it for them, but right now nothing beyond a reasonable doubt for me personally.

I can’t make my mind up. Keep changing every time I read a different article.

first off i think he is guilty 100% but those interviews don't make him seem guilty at all. he seems genuinely confused by them arresting him & maybe he got away with it for so long he convinced himself he was innocent to the point he really believed it?

also from the police interviews where kathy comes in, she seems to doubt him & believe he did it. she barely says anything but surely in that position you'd be asking a million questions wondering why your SO is in this position?

another thing that stood out is when she said 'you didn't tell me you were on the bridge' & he just replies 'i love you'

You can see how small he is after watching it, I don’t understand why it wasn’t released before.
i am sure if that was my husband i would have recognised him on it, did she know??

This case is such a mess. Were they killed in the same place they were found? Why did the phone reconnect in the middle of the night? Keegan Kline (and the Anthony shotz account) Ron Logan, and all the other possible suspects muddy the waters too. Judge Gull is not impressing me. The state of the girls at the crime scene and the timeline and all the people out that day doesn’t add up. The killer should have been a holy mess and gotten dna everywhere. There should have been noise. Even with a gun because once he hurts one girl, the other would react unless she was gagged, but that adds more time to the crime which doesn’t fit the timeline. These victims may have captured their killer which is huge evidence but it doesn’t seem to help and it’s also difficult to see how one guy could do this. Usually you begin to get answers at trial and instead it’s just more questions and confusion.

Is there only a certain amount of times it can be pushed back or can it just keep getting pushed back indefinitely? Have no idea how The US legal system works but it's already been 7 years and it's taking the piss at this point

He was only arrested and charged in Oct 2022, plus they added kidnapping charges in January of this year AND he's changed his legal team at least once.

I do feel for the families. At least he's behind bars where he can't hurt anyone else.

Anyone know much about this? I’ve seen a few things in the crime threads but I am so intrigued by this case. Why is everything so hush hush? I don’t understand. I am not from the USA so may not know as much as some?

I don’t know if you guys are aware that in this trial, a quirk of Indiana, jurors are allowed to asked questions of the witnesses before they’re excused from the stand. Usually that’s only allowed during deliberations. You can get a real feel of how the jury is leaning and clearly tuned in they are. This is not a stupid jury and they don’t seem impressed with this state. But I concede, we still have the defence to go and their questions there will be quite interesting too

I've scanned the defence doc and it's very clever. They imply that he couldn't have done everything alone but I think it's plausible because the girls would have been terrified and cooperate.

Possibly killed in or near the creek which would wash the blood away?

Is there a podcast I can follow which doesn't have the ins & outs of a cat's bum on it, just the important bits? I was following Down The Hill but nothing more has come from that. I tried following Murder Book or whatever it is, recommended on here, but that goes into every single legal argument and I just get lost.

My God, these girls deserve justice. The thought of him getting away with their murder because of incompetent legal nitwits makes me livid.

I really wish down the hill had continued after the arrest. It was such a great podcast. Handled with class and informative without being too confusing!

I know it's the FBI but the cult thing just seems so preposterous when you consider it happened in broad daylight, on a Tuesday afternoon, a short distance off a popular walking trail.

I’m looking forward to the prosecution explaining what ‘he confessed to that only the killer would know’. I think he did it but agree that so far with what we know it does seem kind of flimsy. Early days yet though.

If I was on the jury I'd go not guilty based on the evidence presented. I do think he had something to do with it but not convinced it was just him involved due to certain factors. I feel for the families of both girls and do feel whatever the verdict it will never feel fully certain for anyone.

I think it will be guilty, and hope justice is done for the girls.
Was there someone else dressed exactly same as him on the bridge at same time that committed the crime?
However, I don’t think the prosecution had much to go on so I could see reasonable doubt in the jury.
i think we will hear back today.
If it’s not guilty I don’t think we will see charges again on this case which is so sad for everyone involved.

Thank goodness they finally have a trial date. The whole thing since the arrest has been such a mess and I'm hoping for the families sake (including Richard Allen's!) That they have the right guy and haven't done anything to jeopardise the trial. The last thing anyone needs is either a guilty man walking or an innocent man being put in jail due to all this incompetence.
