I came to this assuming he was guilty, after all why would they make an arrest so long after the crime if they weren't sure? However, the prosecution case has convinced me that Richard Allen is innocent. More importantly, even if he was guilty, they haven't proved this at all.

His confessions are tainted by the prison psychologist being active in online communities discussing the case and sharing this info with RA. This means unless it's possible to prove there was no mention of a van anywhere online in relation to this crime, there has to be reasonable doubt about where he got the information from. Of course, the defence appear to have some information that Weber's van wasn't there anyway...

I'm not sure why people think the change in height on the fishing licences is suspicious. The most likely explanation is that the form was filled in one year by RA and the other by his wife, as they shared both the computer and fishing licence. RA wouldn't be the first short man to add a bit to his height.

I also don't understand the inclusion of the bullet evidence. Even if it were possible to definitively link the bullet to RA (it's not) there's no proof it's linked to the crime. It's a common calibre bullet found on the ground in an area known for hunting. Maybe it is connected, but there's no way to prove this.

I've been truly shocked at the sheer amount of incompetence and unethical behaviour in this case. It's so disrespectful to Abby and Libby and their families.

I read the crime scene document on reddit today. It's part of the defense documents that were released. Just awful.

The coroner said it would have taken then around 20 minutes to bleed out. Abby had no blood on her hands. Libby was naked and Abby was wearing her clothes. He had 15 minutes to get them down the hill and across the creek and then kill them? Timeline doesn't work for me.

There were other people around and noone heard anything.

Guns are machine made, any markings on a bullet are likely to be similar from guns made on the same machine unless they ate old/very well used which I don't believe RAs was. Other guns couldn't be excluded as a match but it was definately RAs gun?

Someone else confessed and asked what would happen if his DNA was found on them which was excluded.

I'm not saying RA is innocent but the invetigstion was incompetent at best and I have plenty of reasonable doubt.

I hope transcripts are released because I think there's a lot of misinformation in the case and we don't know exactly what the jury heard.

Some of the news i read said they tested on loads of guns and only Allen's was a match.

He only needed to get them across the creek on 15 minutes. After that he wasn't seen until 4pm. That's an hour and a half after libbys phone stopped registering movement. That's a long time to kill someone.

I personally think Abby might have fainted before she was killed. That could explain the lack of reaction from her.

Other people were investigated prior to Allen and the evidence couldn't stick like it could with him.
The odinist angle didn't work as I believe they all have alibis.

I do comend the jury for what they've done. 19 hours deliberating and almost a month of trial seeing and hearing horrific things.

Those poor, brave girls. It should never have come to this.

I just can’t move past Keegan Kline’s Anthony Shots account catfishing Libby and him apparently admitting to her friend that he was supposed to meet her that day ‘but she didn’t show up’. Then those poor girls just happen to come across a sadistic killer that murder them both, same day! Police have supposedly found no connection but Kline’s phone was wiped clean when they got hold of him (although this was a few years after the murders). RA has admitted that he went to Peru Indiana the morning of the murders to visit his mum. What a coincidence that Kline and his father lived in Peru IN at that time.

We have the technology so why shouldn't the wider public be able to watch the justice system in action.

Justice is not about appeasing true crime fans, whether we have the technology or not! We don’t have the automatic ‘right’ to watch what goes on in court just because we find it interesting - it’s not a TV show. If releasing information could potentially compromise the trial or enable someone to walk free, then it’s quite correct not to broadcast it.

And? Who cares? That trial isn’t remotely comparable because nobody was brutally murdered.

what’s important is that justice is done by the people selected or qualified to help carry it out - and the waters should not be muddied by the court of social media.

“He said he planned on a sexual assault but saw a van, “got scared” and decided not to, crossed the creek and “cut necks” before covering the bodies with branches”

Hope prosecutors can prove a van went past that rural road near the crime scene around that time.

Pretty damning if a van was seen in that timeframe and they have the evidence. Otherwise, so far, it seems that they only have the box cutter remark that was unknown to the public but part of his confession ‘that only the killer would know?’

A guy testified today that he drove past the initial kidnap point in a white van (down the hill area but not over the creek yet) around 25/30 minutes after he left work in Lafeyette at 2:02pm (takes him around 30 minutes to get home)

Libbys iPhone showed a rise in elevation at 2:32pm and then stopped moving.

So this would fit in his confessions

What was so shocking to me was that it was a beautiful sunny day and they were just acting like any teen girls would, and suddenly some psycho comes up behind them and murders them. What got me while watching the video is that they were dead very quickly after it stopped.
How often do u see footage of someone’s last moments? Just awful.

Exactly. They should have been safe. It was the middle of the day. There were other people hiking in the area. They were getting picked up only a couple of hours after they were dropped off and their loved ones were searching for them straight away. They should have been safe.

I'm equal parts intrigued by this one and deeply saddened by it. Just something about those two young girls being killed in broad daylight makes me feel sick to my stomach tbh. The fact they thought to record it seems that they knew they were in danger. I would hope that the families get peace, whichever way that comes to them.

I think his biggest problem is he confessed. Even if under duress or mental stress. Without that the state really have nothing.

For me the documents most important parts are when they say the investigator misrepresented witness statements to get the warrant.

For example the witness said ‘I saw someone in tan who was muddy’

Warrant says wiI saw someone in blue and tan who was muddy and bloody’

Thats a massive difference.

and the two investigators from the FBI who were on this case and have subsequently been murdered is fishy as fuck.

The jury has been sequestered for a month and probably want to go home. They deliberated for two hours today and asked to be excused early. My prediction is that they did a poll and had a discussion and everyone is on the same page and they’ve gone to sleep on it and I suspect they’ll be back early tomorrow with a not guilty verdict.

Agree 100%. Goodness knows how him and his family will be able live after this and I feel awful for the poor families of the girls.

After watching this, if I had kids and had to warn them of such dangers, I'd be telling them in that kind of situation you both/all make yourself as big as possible and run at the "danger" screaming your heads off.

There is a small chance it could catch the assailant off guard and that moment is sometimes what can make the difference.

I watched an US news item last week on YouTube and its a fairly recent one. It featured one of the reporters who had been in Delphi at the time. What I gleaned was that the police commended Libby and that to me inferred she may have got away but stayed, which could mean Abbey was targeted. And that the dialogue on the recording its not " guys down the hill" as we would think but " guys" and then " down the hill" at a different time. They are saying BG's jacket contained murder weapons. They said some of the families have been brave enough to hear the full recordings. I will see if I can find the link it was really informative and interesting.

Esssssssh! I don’t know what to think anymore, it must be powerful in court hearing those confessions, from a man that admitted to being there and the timelines matching. I do actually think he is “bridge guy” … did bridge guy do it?! … he had the documentation and then started the confessions with details, if the defence can remove the van from being there which is the only point not in discovery and potentially what the killer would know …. I just can’t get over there being no DNA!!

I sadly think this will be hung, those beautiful girls deserve so much more than this 🩷
