It’s like many unsolved cases where the towns sheriff just doesn’t want to know imo. Why would he call the search off? They were only 13/14.

It's a bit weird to just dismiss them. It's rather Goveian.

I'm just thinking from a funding perspective - presumably the FBI pay for themselves, it should make the investigation much more thorough. But these small town police forces do what they like.

He was held in solitary confinement for 13 months. We don't know when the confessions were made in terms of before or after he got disclosure as the prison has messed around with the dates on their paperwork...

Tbf as well, when that video came out, I remember people saying it could have been anyone in that area, the clothes was a typical outfit anyone could have worn etc.

I'm desperate to look into what happened at the hearings last week but i don't have time to go through all the documents. Does anyone have any recommendations of a podcast etc. That will be neutral?? I'm thinking the murder sheet?? Any recommendations would be amazing!

The murder sheet has 3 episodes one per day, really good as they were in court but they are quite long.
The thing though is he is really small for a guy 5ft4, if only they had picked this up when looking for him as sure there couldn’t be too many males in Delphi that short fitting the description.
In one of his apparent confessions he said he killed them with a box cutter and apparently this would fit in with how they were killed.

I am glad there is interest on here in following the trial.
I am a bit lost in all the court hearings so far, I guess american courts hear alot before the actual case starts.
But I have seen he confessed to more than 30 people, so why on earth isn’t he just pleading guilty and lessen the families pain.
Surely his wife and mother can’t still be supporting him after hearing that.
The murder sheet is a good podcast to try keep up with it all.

I don’t understand why neither the state or defence asked any of their whitenesses if “ the man you saw in the trail/ area that day was the man sitting here” of course not conclusive but the “muddy & bloody man” must of been a very strong visual … how powerful each way for a yes or no.

I did feel like there was a lot of honest body language signals in the interviews and he seemed to handle it pretty well … everything changed for me when Kathy came in .. she knew he did it there and then, you can see how manipulative he is when she says “ you told me you wasn’t on the bridge” just tells her he loves her and pulls her in. IMO the calls confirm he is the bridge guy and the voice is a match … I did have small doubts about things but 100% sure it’s him.
he even describes the “hat” of bridge guy that he carry’s around with him.

They say Richard Allen knew things that only the killer would know and I’m interested to see what that is exactly. There’s his confession but it feels that they are scant on evidence?

Also four journalists have already banned from the trial. Apparently they took videos of the juror’s van.

I’ve read that actually his confessions were incorrect. Incorrect cause of death, weapons used, and other details.

I can’t figure this out & can’t find a decent podcast to listen to which goes over the evidence. True crime garage have attempted it by let their opinions run the podcast. I really hope the girls & their families have the justice they deserve.

Is there still a gag order? Maybe more info will come out after sentencing?

My interpretation was that he had already ordered them where to go when the video starts and was following them to the location. She was trying to give clues in where that location was in her filming and what she was saying.

I knew there would be twists and turns but I’m worried as well. Keep telling myself it’s only just started, hopefully the prosecution has an incredibly strong case with irrefutable evidence that we haven’t heard about yet.

It took them 7 years to charge someone, I think their case is circumstantial other than the bullet which hasn't been fired and there is doubt from many people that bullets can be linked to specific guns especially when they haven't been fired. It's a common gun and bullet in the area, even the police use that type from what I've heard.

The episode of The consult (spotify) where Julia cowley speaks with the two that wrote the 'In the shadow of the bridge' book is great. She goes into her theories (as a profiler) as to why she thinks he did it.

The more I see, the more surprised I am how long it took the jury to reach their verdict. I know it was still quick in the grand scheme of things, but still.

See I'm not convinced he is bridge guy. Bridge Guy could be anyone, he is wearing what I think a lot of people would wear at that time of year, there is nothing distinctive about his clothes in the images we have.

The witness descriptions of Bridge Guy are all different so I don't think they are talking about the same person.

Also I don't think one person could have done this crime in the time frame and with two victims without restraining thek and there were apparently no signs of restraint.

I've also recently heard about Elvis Fields confessions to committing the crime on at least three occasions. He apparently said he gave Abby horns and there were two branches above her head. The scene imo was staged and the branches were not a cover up as apparently there were loads of leaves on the ground the killer(s) could have used.

The whole investigation stinks, stopping working with the FBI not following up on forensics, abby had a hard in her head that wasn't tested until trial. There are others hairs the FBI could test for dna but the police have said no.

Is there a podcast I can follow which doesn't have the ins & outs of a cat's bum on it, just the important bits? I was following Down The Hill but nothing more has come from that. I tried following Murder Book or whatever it is, recommended on here, but that goes into every single legal argument and I just get lost.

My God, these girls deserve justice. The thought of him getting away with their murder because of incompetent legal nitwits makes me livid.

I know it's the FBI but the cult thing just seems so preposterous when you consider it happened in broad daylight, on a Tuesday afternoon, a short distance off a popular walking trail.
