Renting over buying for some weird tax reasons? Or to do with ex paying some although I'm not sure if she has custody of her older 2

The rental rules are changing in the summer and landlords can't refuse pets amongst other things my landlord is selling up we when move out because he doesn't want to be told who he can't rent to
I think the idea and the spirit of the new rental rules are good but the way it’s being enforced I think is just going to lead to all the rental properties being snatched up by companies and prices hiked etc so the market will be in a worse state than it was before. See also the EPC rulings, in a lot of older properties it’s far more difficult to get to the required level than new builds even if the house is absolutely livable (ie not mouldy and falling apart) so the landlords will sell, companies will buy and pour money into them to get them to the right level and hike rents right up because they’ll have a monopoly in the area.

Unfortunately I think a lot of landlords will just sell up as if it's not hard enough to get a rental already (we have been trying to move since last april)
I get that the new rules are meant to help renters and that's fab but no way should a landlord essentially be told who they have to rent their property to I get that pets are important for wellbeing mental health etc but it should still be up to the landlord if they want pets in their property

Me and my partner finished S2 this morning and were honestly raging at how much of a colossal waste of time it was. Just pick a storyline ffs!!! S1 was soooo good in that unexpected way that was so satisfying, and now theyve shat all over it. Still, at least she’s got a nice gaff out of it, £17K a month! Blimey, guess that means we’ve got a couple more unsatisfying seasons on the way at least 🙄🙄🙄

And not everything needs a 'twist'. They all just wash over you after a bit.
A bit I didn't understand. (Sorry forgotten all the names 😂 ). When Nic's brother in law/lover was going to dump her at the station - the sister in law was telling him what to say eg that Nic needed to lose weight. Which he did even though apparently he did actually have feelings for her. So why did he do it? I thought the SIL must have made him record it all for proof but she can't have done or it would have come out at the inquest.

I actually think that twist could have been quite good if they just picked a lane and stuck with it! But I agree the way it came across was so dumb. as you say, they threw so much mud at the wall it felt impossible to make your way through it all. I suppose the point of that particular ‘twist’ is that it’s supposed to make us reflect on that guy (also can’t remember his name!) a bit more and see the situation for him as more complicated than it first appeared, in the same way in S1 we thought the affair was one thing for Nic when really it was something else. And also make way for some character development for Suzie in S3 when she starts dealing with her role in his death and Nic’s eventual breakdown, which I assume is coming? But then I also think we’re supposed to think Ollie has somehow got her into the basement with the dodgy stairs so who bleeping knows. It’s all a mess and terrible writing imho.

I enjoyed S2 🤭 I was expecting it to be a massive let down after some of the comments on here but it wasn’t. Probably wasn’t as good as the first series, but wasn’t terrible.

I don’t think it was necessarily bad, it just felt like nothing at all happened to progress at all. I do think DMC is really good at writing scenes between characters but perhaps not so good at writing an ongoing story.

Yeah, I agree with that. Some of the interactions between the characters had me laughing out loud, but the story didn’t really go anywhere or resolve anything from the first series. I think that might be to keep the characters around though. I get why some people might find that annoying, but it didn’t really bother me tbh.

I’ve decided not to watch it as, while I thought the storyline of S1 was interesting and the way it unfolded was very well done every character was horrible and it actually left me feeling pretty off by the end of it. Not sure why I’m reading this tbh :ROFLMAO:

I watched This Country season 1 yesterday as I needed a wee comfort watch. I can't help it, because of This Country I'll always love her. Perfection, every second of that show.

I do think she’s a brilliant comedy writer. I haven’t got very far on the 2nd series but Ive definitely had a good few laugh out loud moments which is rare these days.

I think Rain Dogs was superb and gets little mention, I thought Jack Farthing and Ade Edmondson were excellent in that
