I know it sounds a bit naff but I’d like to crochet something as a wedding gift, does anyone have any ideas as to what I could make?

Not naff at all! I’ve seen some amazing plants & flowers, but disclaimer I can’t crochet so have no idea how much of a nightmare that may be 🫣

A friend got me a crochet kit to make a beanie for Christmas. It is lovely. My birthday is just before Christmas and I got an embroidery kit from another friend and a voucher for a local craft store from a sibling.

Crochet is my main craft and in early December I finished a blanket for a friend who had her baby earlier this week. I really need to put a border on it but I am cat sitting and the cat constantly goes for the wool so the blanket is stashed away as I dont want it ruined when 8t is a gift

Instead I am working on a knitted scarf. I dont knit much as I am much slower at it than crochet but I am trying to stick with it.

Ooh post a photo of the blanket when it's ready!

Glad you are giving knitting a go, are you using straight needles or circular? I can't use straight ones I find them so uncomfortable and never managed to knit anything on them, then I discovered circulars and find it sooo much easier.

I am in need of advice and I hoped someone here may be able to help.

Two of my bras have let go of their underwire - it's poking through the inner fabric where the two cups meet at the front. One I could excuse since it was about a year old, but the other is only 3 months old and is still perfectly acceptable so I'm loathe to throw it away.

Any ideas on how to patch the hole on the inside so it won't just pole through straight away again? I am capable of hand sewing and bodging a fix but don't have access to or the ability to use a machine!

Hi guys, I just started crocheting today so please try not to judge too much aha, I'm having trouble with curling and apparently it’s because the stitches are too tight? But does anyone have any advice as I’ve tried again and tried to make it looser and used a larger hook but it’s still happening

Considering you just started today that looks pretty good. It could be that your foundation chain is too tight - or you’re pulling the yarn too tightly when you make each stitch. You might need to fiddle around with the way you hold your yarn so that you pull it through evenly.
To be honest as you’ve just started it might be an idea to just crack on with a few more rows and see if it starts to lie flatter, which may well happen as long as you have the same number of stitches per row. It does take a bit of time to get used to keeping your tension even.
And if all else fails you can always block your work ( mist it with a water spray, pin it flat and let it dry )

Does anyone make candles and or soap? How do you store them? I want to start making so I can sell for Xmas fairs but the last time I made soap the rose petals went brown an it sweated, I think it's cold press soap I have, is there a way I can store both the candles an soap so they will be fine by the time am ready to sell

As part of the post-summer holiday, back-to-school, gut-and-clean of my house, I discovered that someone had spilt coke or coffee on my massive yarn basket and it had seeped through, so I had to bin loads

Obviously, today I have had to spend £££ buying more

I just find them more appealing than the Hexi-Cardigan that everyone seems to do. I have seen a lot of Hexi cardis in odd colours or that look very bulky and it puts me off as I don't feel it fits with my style. I have seen some lovely ones as well, but it makes me worry that I would invest lots of time and it would not come out right. I also have no faith in my ability to make 2 identical hexigans

Me too. I just want something quick and warm to throw on. I also really would like to make a plain, single colour granny stripe jumper but can’t find one I like on Ravelry

I've embroidered a monogram onto some scrap fabric I had. I want to attach it to my little ones stocking but I don't really want to stitch it on, as the edges will look really messy I think. Any other ideas on how to attach it?

Id use iron on hemming tape. ( Because I can’t sew! )

You've jogged my memory, I vowed that I'd learn to use my sewing machine during lockdown! I haven't used a machine since school and it's such a great skill to have.

I'm very slowwwwly knitting myself a cardigan using a Kate Davies pattern (Powdermill) but in different colours as I absolutely can't stand pink. It's my first time making something with a steek so that's exciting. I wish I could knit a lot faster, this will be ready in 2027 at this rate. I want to be wearing it now

I am in awe of those who crochet, I can't understand it for the life of me.

Just started trying to learn crochet.. does anyone know any good YT channels for beginners? The ones I have found are too fast or hard to follow. I follow along but my single/double crochet just turns into a big knot.. I have got the chains down though. Have a few several feet long but I want to move on..

I have dabbled in most things (except anything needlework related!) and seem to rotate through crafts, as I get bored easily
That said, I seem to be better at collecting craft stuff that actually using it
Current “thing” is my cricut machine and heat press, I’m just discovering all of the possibilities- just need a few more hours in the day….

You sound very much like me! I'm currently looking into getting a cricut machine... I'm very tempted, just put off a bit by the lack of space to do it in! I keep falling down a rabbit hole looking at you tube videos and Facebook groups

In the end I went with the Zings as I couldnt justify spending that amount on the Chiaogoo as a relative newbie. I tried the Zings out last night and they feel good but I have nothing to compare them to really.

I like Blossom Crochet. Very easy to follow. I was a knitter first, learned to crochet which I find easier. I'm trying knitting again, a corner to corner baby blanket.
